John Fitz Geoffrey took up his position as the new English Justicar in Ireland.

117.Turlough mac Cathail O Connor, the son of 116.Aed mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, "escaped" from his crannog prison on Loch Leisi in the Connacht Province after drowning his warders.

Maurice Fitz Gerald the English Baron, besieged the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill O Donnell's Cenel Conaill territory of Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province and handed over half of it to Cormac O Connor from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Siol Muireadhaigh / Sil Murray Ui Conchobair Sept and also took hostages from O Donnell for the other half, "imprisoning" them all in the castle at Sligo in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province and in November Maelsechlainn O Donnell besieged the castle at Sligo, intending to releaset the prisoners and put his own men in charge there, but he could not take it, and the English Galls there then "hung" all of the hostages holding them up on the roof for all to see, and among them were Ua Mianain who was O Donnell's foster - father, and also his foster - brother.

116.Aed mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor was "captured" and all of his possessions were taken, and his son, 117.Turlough O Connor was also "recaptured" while seeking "Sanctuary" with the Catholic Bishop of Clonfert and was handed over to the English Galls, and imprisoned in Athlone Castle nearby in Co. Westmeath in the south of Northern Leinster on the eastern side of the River Shannon.

1247 AD 117.Turlough O Connor, the son of 116.Aed mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, "escaped" from the Athlone Castle, and Costello / Milidh mac Goisdealbh the English Baron, took over the territory in the kingdom of Feda Conmaicne in the Connacht Province and "expelled" Cathal Mac Rannal / Reynolds / Mheic Ragnaill their Gaelic Milesian Irian Kingand put English Galls into the crannog there and Cathal O Connor and 117.Turlough O Connor with their followers went to assist Cathal Mac Rannal by driving Costello out of Feda Conmaicne and also stop him from getting into the castle at Lecc Derg. The English Galls would not leave the castle until the Catholic Archdeacon of Connacht came to lead them out over the River Shannon to Tuinna, so the O Connors had to go and bring him to there from Trinity Island to carry this out, and the English Costelloes / Mheic Goisdealbhs were then "expelled" from out of the territory altogether.

Maurice Fitz Gerald / Muiris Mac Geralt, the English Baron, attacked Sligo and Assaroe / Ballyshannon in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province, and Cormac O Connor, the son of Diarmait O Connor, seeking his opportunity joined in with them and the "combined" forces of the O Donnells from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept who had their territory in the north - west of the Ulster Province, and their kinsmen the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel nEogain Sept then came up against the English Galls at Ballyshannon / Bealaseanay where they managed to stop them from crossing over the ford. The English Galls then sent their new ally, Cormac O Connor, westwards near Mointech, while they went to Ballycoolan on the River Erne, and after besieging the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel nEogain Sept there from "behind," they crossed over the ford, where Maelsechlainn O Donnell the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel Conaill King was to be slain along with Mac Somerled the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill King of Argyle and many of the Chiefs from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept. Many of the English Galls were also slain or drowned on this occasion, and others also at Termon Mac Grath during the pursuit, and the English Galls then plundered the whole of the territory there and left Rory O Canon / Ua Canannain behind to act now as the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King in the north - west of Ulster as their new "puppet."

Donough Mac Gilla Patrick / Fitz Patrick, the son of Anmchaid Mac Gilla Patrick, from the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Connla kingdom of Ossory / Co. They also attacked Fid O n Dermot and the Muintir Fathaigh, slaying many of the English Gall foreigners in the territory there, and then went onto the English Gall settlement in Galway in Co. Galway, which they burnt along with the castle , and many were to be slain there also. The English Galls went out after them and once again they were still able to slay many more of the Englishh Galls in this conflict, and then escape to Carra, and they then left the area altogether as the English Galls were just too numerous to continue on trying to defeat them all. Teague / Tadhg O Connor, the son of Conor Ruad - of Red Complexion O Connor and other Connacht Princes also burnt Burrishoole and devastated every part of the territory held by the English Galls there, and also burnt the great island of Claen Loch where many of the English Galls were once again slain. The English Galls had not experienced such "widespread" resistance against their takeovers in Ireland before, and the English Galls in revenge then burnt Roscommon in Co. Roscommon and Ardcane also there in the Connacht Province.

O Dowd / Ua Dubda the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Fiachrach Muaide King and O Boyle / Ua Baoighill the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Clan Chindfaolad King also put together a "combined" large fleet of ships and raided the English Galls at Carbury in the territory there that they had also previously taken over in the Connacht Province.

Rory / Ruaidri O Donnell was now the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King in their territory of Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal in the west of the Ulster Province and would be followed later on in this position by Maelsechnaill O Donnell.

1248 AD Magnus O Connor's sons, together with a son of Conor O Connor and their followers attacked the English Galls and burnt mac Henry's Castle, which was held by a son of Henry Butler the Anglo - Norman Baron, who was raiding the territory of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Maille O Malleys in their kingdom in North Umall in the north - east of the Connacht Province, and then went over to the islands of Clew Bay, while the English Galls who were now under the leadership of Jordan de Exeter and John Butler who were both Anglo - Norman Barons, also raided Aghagower and the O Malley's Ui Briuin kingdom of Umall, both the north and the south. Mac Henry the English Baron, also brought a great force of English Galls to Umall, and Donnell O Connor, the son of Magnus O Connor was to promise him "support" to attack his own kinsmen, and as a result Diarmait O Connor, the son of Magnus O Connor was slain along with many others. Teague / Tadhg O Connor was another alsoslain by the English Galls, as he had previously been their "Greatest Fear" while they were trying to take over the Connacht Province. Maurice Fitz Gerald the English Baron marched on the kingdom of Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province killing and plundering the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Septs there as he went, and "banished" the previously installed puppet, Rory O Canon / Ruaidhri Ua Canannain who they had put in as the Cenel Conaill King who fled to their Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill kinsmen, the Cenel nEogain Sept, leaving the Cenel Conaill Septs in the care now of Goffraidh O Donnell, one of the sons of Donnell Mor - the Greater O Donnell (Ua Domhnall). The Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Sept and Rory O Canon / Canannain then "combined" their forces and marched to Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell where a "great battle" occurred and many more from these "northern" Irish Ulster Septs were slain, including Rory O Canon / Ua Canannain himself, and Goffraidh O Donnell then became the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King in his own right in their territory of Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province. Maurice Fitz Gerald the Anglo - Norman Baron and his English Galls then attacked the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel nEogain Sept who were forced to give up "hostages" to bring about "peace" there, and the English Galls then decided to plunder all of the kingdom of the Connemara in the mid - west of the Connacht Province, to the south of the Ulster Province, where they besieged O Flaherty the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ui Seola King who had their territory in the west of the Connacht Province, who was able to not only ward off their attacks, but "defeated" them as well. A son of Ua Sechnusary was also slain by the English Galls this year.

William de Burgh the Anglo - Norman English Baron, had "died" in England and his body was brought back to Ireland and interred at Athassel in the Connacht Province.

The Co - Arb of St. Patrick returned to Ireland this year.

116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor the "unofficial" 61st King of Connacht gave Rath na Rovanagh to the religious order of the "Canons" of Kilmore in the Connacht Province.

Aulaf / Amlaib O Rourke, the son of Cathal Riabach O Rourke from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin West Breifne Sept who had his territory in Co. Leitrim in the north - west of the Connacht Province was slain by Conor Carrach Mac Donagh / Donnchada (Mac Dermot Sept) from the Hermonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Siol Muireadhaigh / Sil Murray Ui Conchobair Cenel Diamada mheic Donnchada Sept, this year.

1249 AD John Fitz Geoffrey the English Justicar in Ireland attacked the Gaelic Irish Septs in Southern Leinster who were besieging the English Galls there, and he ravaged the Leinster Province totally, and Donough Mac Gilla Patrick / Fitz Patrick, who had fought hard and long to oust the English Galls out of his territory in Ireland, who was the son of Anmchaid Mac Gilla Patrick, the son of Donough Mac Gilla Patrick, in their kingdom of Ossory / Co. Kilkenny in Southern Leinster was slain. Fingen Mac Carthy the Heberian Eoghanacht Chaisil King of Southern Munster / Desmond also waged all out war on the English Galls set up nearby in Southern Munster incurred further great losses. Piaras Poer / Power and Peter de Bermingham another two Anglo - Norman Barons, also led a great force of young English Galls into the Connacht Province as far as the Sligo Castle in Co. Sligo in the north - west of Connacht Province and 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor's son was to lay an "ambush" there for them and was able to slay many of them also who were interred at Ballysadare. He then went into the kingdom of Tireragh in the Connacht Province and also throughout the Irish Sept's territory taken over there by De Bermingham / Mac Feorais the Anglo - Norman Baron, which he sacked all the way from Moy / Muaidhe to the Beltra Strand and De Bermingham / Geroit Mac Feorais pursued them and Donough O Connor, the son of Magnus O Connor, was wounded and captured, and 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor's son was able to rescue him and slay De Bermingham in the process, but unfortunately Donough O Connor was to later "die" from his injuries. Mac Maurice Fitz Gerald the Anglo - Norman Baron then brought another great force of English Galls into the Connacht Province and regained all of the booty that 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor's son had taken, and 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor himself then "fled" to the north with all of his followers into the O Rourke's Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne kingdom of West Breifne in Co. Leitrim and then from there into the Ulster Province. John Fitz Geoffrey the English Justicar in Ireland had all the English Galls in the O Melaghlins / O Loughlins Clann Cholmain kingdom of Meath / Midhe, and the Leinster Province go to Athlone in Co. Westmeath in Northern Leinster, situated on the border with the Connacht Province, to "combine" their English Gall forces to attack the territory on the "western" side of the River Shannon belonging to the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Siol Muireadhaigh / Sil Murray O Connor Septs. Mac Maurice Fitz Gerald the English Baron also with a force of English Galls from out of both the Munster Province and the Connacht Province met up at Elphin / Ail Finn (The Rock of the Clear Spring) in Co. Roscommon in Connacht, where they ravaged the territory of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Sil Murray Septs also and then put in, as their particular "puppet" there, 117.Turlough mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, the son of 116.Aed mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, the nephew of 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, to be the "unofficial" 62nd King of Connacht in place of 116.Aed's brother, 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor. They also besieged the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne kingdom carrying off all of their cattle, and also spent 3 weeks ravaging the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Siol Muireadhaigh / Sil Murray territory also there, and attacked the Irish Septs on Loch Key and the islands, including Mac Dermot's Rock. John Fitz Geoffrey the English Justicar in Ireland went back to the O Melaghlins / O Loughlins Clann Cholmain kingdom of Meath / Midhe, while Mac Maurice Fitz Gerald went over into Sligo in Co. Sligo in Connacht leaving 117.Turlough mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor in as his new English "appointee" to control the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Siol Muireadhaigh / Sil Murray Septs there. 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor's son then besieged Athenry, the territory that was now under the control of the Anglo - Norman de Berminghams / Mac Feorais, and 117.Turlough mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor came up against him with the support of the English Galls, and his followers were forced to flee, and many more of the young Irish "aristocratic warriors" in the Connacht Province were slain once again on this occasion. Teague O Manahan  / Tadhg Ua Mannachain who was now the Heremonian Dal Cuinn King of the Ui Briuin na Sinna Sept, "died," and his body was interred at Kilmore, and Dunmore was also burnt by 117.Turlough mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor's sons.

The English Galls also constructed a castle against the Irish Septs this year on the site of the previous ancient capital of the Heremonian Dal Fiatach Sept's kingdom of Mourne at Green Castle in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province at the entrance to the Carlingford Loch.

1250 AD Diarmait O Hara / Ua h Eaghra was now the Heberian Cianacht King who had their kingdom and territory at Leyney / Luigni in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province.

Niall O Canon / Ua Cananain was now the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King who had his territory in their kingdom of  Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province.

The English Galls now controlled most of the territories in Ireland, except for "small areas" were the Irish Gaelic Kings were still allowed to rule under their "strict supervision" and high taxation, and by now realising their ultra - dire situation more fully the Irish Gaelic Chiefs were determined to try and begin a more "concerted resistance" against any further English Gall encroachments, and to this end they began to "revolt" once again in the Connacht Province and the Leinster Province, and especially in the O Melaghlins / O Loughlins Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Clann Cholmain kingdom of  Meath / Midhe in the south of Northern Leinster. Unfortunately the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Septs in the Ulster Province at this time also were once again brought into "conflict" with each other, while they were also once again attempting to bring about some "unity of purpose" and overall authority among their particular "northern" Septs to oust the English Galls / foreigners from out of their particular territories there. With the Gaelic Irish Septs in Ulster Province now also up against the other Gaelic Irish Septs there, this only continued to further "reduce" their overall "aristocratic warriors" further, and this infighting among the Septs in Ulster Province only suited the English purpose further. *116.Brian Catha Duinn O Niall who was now the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain King of Tir Eogan / Tyrone in Ulster Province was trying to "combine" the Tuaths / Family regions under his "single overall leadership," while intending to revive the position of High King of Ireland, and then with such a "combined" Irish force drive out the English Gall foreign invaders from Ireland, and due to this he would be forced to continue on with this plan for the next 10 years until 1260 AD. With the assistance of his nearby Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill kinsman, Maelsechlainn O Donnell, the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King of Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell / Co. Donegal / Dun na Gall (Fort of the Strangers) in the north - west of Ulster Province, he was eventually then to once again be able to secure the "highest" position among the "northern" Ui Niaill Septs to become the overall Cenel nEogain King of Ulster. He was able to "defeat" Donnell Mac Loughlin / Lochlainn who was the other Cenel nEogain / Tanaiste / heir apparent to the Cenel nEogain Kingship who had also controlled the kingdom of Ulaid / Ulidia in the east of Ulster Province, and the Heremonian Dal Cuinn 3 Colla kingdom of Orghialla / Airghialla / Oriel that took in Co. Armagh and Co. Monaghan and the nearby territory in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster.

116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor who was now the  "unofficial" 61st King of Connacht  was now also supported by the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel nEogain Septs and he returned to the Connacht Province with a great force of Irish Septs into the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne kingdom there, and Conor O Rourke the Ui Breifne King of West Breifne, the son of Tiernan O Rourke, went to the territory of Tir Maine and drove the English appointed "puppet"  117.Turlough mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor out of the Connacht Province who was also 116,Felim's nephew, and the son of 116.Aed mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor, who had been previously installed at the "unofficial" 62nd King of Connacht by the English Galls, who now sought "refuge" with his English Gall supporters. 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor the previous "unofficial" 61st King of Connacht was now able to gather all of the Gaelic Irish Septs in the Connacht Province to support him, and the English Galls seeing which way the wind was now blowing sent envoys to make "peace" with him and allowed him to take back the kingdom of Connacht without giving him any trouble. Meanwhile, the English Galls who were "nearby" on the "eastern" side of the River Shannon in Athlone in Co. Westmeath in Northern Leinster "blinded" all of their Gaelic Irish hostages. 116.Felim mac Cathail Crobhdhearg O Connor now in overall control in the Connacht Province then laid siege to Cathal O Connor also and "banished" him also from out of Connacht altogether.

Diarmait O Hara / Ua h Eaghra the Heberian Cianacht King of Leyney who had his territory also in Co. Sligo in the Connacht Province, "died" while "imprisoned" by Mac Maurice Fitz Gerald the English  - Norman Baron, who joined with Cathal O Reilly and and his brother, Chu Chonnacht O Reilly and all of the Chiefs of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne kingdom of East Breifne in Co.Cavan to invade the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Septs with a great force over 3 days and they suffered "great losses" at Tullahogue in Co. Tyrone in the Ulster Province.. On venturing further into the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill territory in the north - west of the Ulster Province he took the unfortunate Niall O Canon / Ua Canannain who had recently assumed the Cenel Conaill Kingship the previous year, prisoner, although he was under the Catholic Bishop O Carolan's / Ua Cearballain's protection. Niall O Canon was later slain while trying to escape.

Fitz Hugh Roche another of the Anglo - Norman Barons founded Bridge Town Abbey at Castle Town Roche in Co. Cork in Southern Munster and also had their castle there at Ballyhooly / Baile Atha hUlla, and his descendants also over time were to eventually also become "More Irish then the Irish."

A "Franciscan" friary was constructed at Multyfarnham / Muilte Farannain in Co. Westmeath in the north - west of Northern Leinster during this period, and it is still there to be seen today after being restored, together with a modern "Franciscan" College on the site, while another was built nearby at Clane in Co. Kildare in Central Southern Leinster on the River Liffey which it is now only a ruin, while another was also constructed there at Bodenstown and still another at Castle Dermot, while the Abbey Lara was also founded this year in Co. Longford in the Gaelic Milesian Irian O Farrell kingdom of Annaly in the north - west of Northern Leinster.

Maelsechlainn O More / Moore  the Gaelic Milesian Irian King of the Ui Laeghis Sept who had his kingdom in Co. Laois in the mid - west of Southern Leinster, "died" this year, and was interred there in a tomb in Abbey Leix.

The Mac Mahons who were the Heberian Dalcassian Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Ui mBriain Chiefs descended from Mahon O Brian and *105.Brian Boru the 175th High King of Ireland, at this time held the Urlanmore Castle at Newmarket on the River Fergus in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province.

King John's Castle was also finally finished this year at Athenry in Co. Galway in the west of Southern Connacht as a further English Gall stronghold against the Irish Septs there.
