1541 - 1550 AD
1541 AD June 26th: Sir Anthony St. Ledger the newly appointed English Lord Lieutenant in Ireland for Henry V111 the Welsh Tudor English King had him also declared the King of Ireland by the Ascendancy in the Anglo - Norman Parliament in Ireland, instead of the original position of Lordship granted to his predecessors previously by the Pope, and he also re - instigated the penalties under Poyning's Irish Penal Laws against the whole of the Irish population including the Old English / Anglo - Normans and he began a campaign to totally take over Ireland completely for Henry V111 after he had been able to dupe the Anglo - Norman Parliament into accepting his claim to hand over Ireland to the English Crown. To bring this about he had agreed to all their grievances, but had no intention of doing anything about them, while behind the scene he carefully bribed those among the Lords who were already committed "survivors" who are always willing to capitulate in their own personal interests and he then dismissed the Anglo - Norman Parliament in Ireland altogether for another 13 years.
In anticipation of his personal agenda coming to fruition, during the previous 20 years Henry V111 the Welsh Tudor English King had abolished all Irish land tenure and had also tried to do away with all traces of the Irish Brehon Law by putting false claimants in to the Irish kingdoms and their territories, who where then supported with English Military forces, while the Gaelic Irish Chieftain of each Tuath (Family region) was either to be expelled from their territory, or forced to yield their territory over to the English Crown, although it was never in their power to personally do so under Irish Brehon Law. If the Irish Sept who actually owned the territory refused his illegal bargain, then English Military forces were sent in to hang, burn and shoot the Irish Rebels, while he also used "exile" as another way to bring about vacant wastes Irish territory for further English confiscation, and to push the Irish Septs out of their original territories altogether, ensuring all the profits from these ongoing confiscations finished up with him. He also gave the Harp of *105.Brian Boru, who had been the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid U Turlogh 175th High King of Ireland, to Mac William - Burke the Anglo - Norman English Earl of Clann Rickarde together with The Book of Kells, and had Clonfert monastery in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht burnt down, and the 3,000 Franciscan monks who were in residence there driven out. Although Quin Abbey in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province was also to be among the many Catholic Institutions suppressed, the Franciscan monks there were to continue to stay in the area for many Centuries to come, with John Hogan to be the last one, who when he died was interred there in the Abbey in the 19th Century AD.
Magnus O Donnell the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King who had his kingdom and territory in the north - west of the Ulster Province met with Sir Anthony Ledger the English Justicar in Ireland at Cavan in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster where he entered an alliance with him to create peace, and also took an army to meet up with Sir Anthony Leger in the kingdom and territory of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Cenel nEogain Sept in Tyrone / Tir Eogain, and devastated the territory there and also went into Co. Fermanagh where he also devastated Cuil na nOirer in Upper Loch Erne at Coole and attacked the region in the west of Lower Loch Erne there ravaging it as far as Enniskillen where he demolished the castle there.
Donnell O Donnell, from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept who was also a son of Niall Garb - the Rough O Donnell, and a brother to Magnus O Donnell, was killed by O Boyle also from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept while he was assisting Turlough O Boyle against his brother in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province.
Rory Mac Quillan, the son of Walter Mac Quillan, the Anglo Norman Baron, in the north - east of the Ulster Province, defeated the sons of Aed Buidhe - of the Yellow Hair O Niall the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Chief of Clannaboye, and Angus Mac Sweeney was also killed along with many of the galloglasses / mercenaries from Tyrconnell / Tir Conaill, and also many of the Clann Donnell galloglasses, along with quite a few of the Irish warriors on both sides but later on with a large army of followers he was able to kill Conn O Niall and Donnell O Niall, the sons of Aed O Niall.
1542 AD Magnus O Donnell the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King feeling more secure in his position raided Lower Connacht again, while his sons, Calbhach O Donnell and Aed O Donnell along with their Cenel Conaill kinsman The O Doherty of Inishowen went ahead to Ballymote and seized a large quantity of booty from there and then returned home, and Mac Donagh the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Mac Diarmada Ui Donnchadha Chief from Lower Connacht and others from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Mheic Donnchadha Sept came to submit, and to secure his father's position even more also among the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept, Calbhach O Donnell also raided the descendants of Aed Ballach O Donnell, the son of Donnell O Donnell. Magnus O Donnell and Brian O Rourke the son of Eogan O Rourke, the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne King of West Breifne now combined their forces and attacked the English held territory at Route in the north - east of the Ulster Province, and divided their followers at the River Bann where Rory Mac Quillan the Anglo - Norman Baron with his English Gall forces was waiting for them on the other side. They crossed over the River Bann totally disregarding Rory Mac Quillan and the English Galls, and instead sent out raiding parties, and were to capture so much booty there that Rory mac Quillan came and offered them exchanges, and made peace. Rory Mac Quillan then decided to raid the territory of the O Canes / Kanes / O Cahans who were the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Chiefs of the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Sept there in their territory in the north - east of Ulster also, and Magnus O Cane / Kane went after him with mercenaries from the Clann Sweeney, who were descended from Rory Mac Sweeney, and they were able to defeat Rory Mac Quillan along with his Scottish supporters there and many were killed, including the son of Alasdair Carrach Mac Donnell / Donald while Rory Mac Quillan himself barely escaped unharmed. Rory Mac Quillan then attacked Magnus O Cane / Kane again, with the English forces in his contingent who were under Sir William Brabazon who was able to take O Cane's / Kane's castle at Limavady where he slaughtered the whole garrison there, which made Rory Mac Quillan victorious on this occasion. Rory Mac Quillan then summoned the Mac Sweeney galloglasses to join forces with him, but while they were involved in coming to some type of agreement, Rory Mac Quillan and Alasdair Carrach Mac Donnell attacked the Clann Sweeney mercenaries as they were leaving them at Killigmost.
Magnus O Donnell the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill King raided Lower Connacht once again, and the Irish Chiefs there submitted to him again and he then left the region, but soon after Ulick na Cenn Mac William the Anglo - Norman Baron from the Clann Rickarde, who was the son of Richard Burke, along with David Mac William Burke the son of Ulick Burke, also raided Lower Connacht and took Ballyoughter off of the O Flanagans, and then with Mac Dermot from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Mac Diarmada they went on and took hostages back to Clann Rickarde, including the Mac Sweeneys. A week later, Mael Muire Mac Sweeney himself was killed, and the Mac Sweeneys were banished and their fortresses demolished, with many of them also being killed, and Calbhach O Donnell the son of Magnus O Donnell, went to meet Sir Anthony St. Ledger the English Justicar and made peace with him personally while in the meantime, Magnus O Donnell in a further play of goodwill was to give the territories at Toorah and Lurg in the Connacht Province over to Sean Maguire, the son of Cu Chonnacht Maguire from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch Sept, who then submitted to him also as his overlord.
Brian O Niall 111 / The O Niall was the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain King of Tyrone / Tir nEogain in Central Ulster Province, and he would be followed into this position by Felim / Fedelmid O Niall.
Turlough O Connor Roe / Ruadh, the son of Teague Buidhe - of the Yellow Hair O Connor, from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Ui Conchobhair Sept in the Connacht Province was taken prisoner by Rory Mac Dermot from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Mac Diarmada Sept.

in Co. Cork. He
was to rent the
