1571 - 1576 AD
1571 AD
Sir John Perrot, the English appointed Lord Deputy in
Ireland for Elizabeth 1st the
Welsh Tudor Queen of England attacked the
surrounding Irish
Families
near
Kilmallock in
Co. Limerick
in the north - west of the Munster
Province, and they fled across the bog
to escape his inhumane merciless fury, but after discarding his heavy gear he was to eventually catch up
with them and
was able to kill 50
of those who were fleeing and then
cut off all of their heads and took them back
and put them in the marketplace for all of the population
there to see. (Because of the way these people had fled during their attempt to
escape his extreme brutality they then became known to the English authorities in the Dublin Castle
as
"Bog Trotters.
Previously
123.Conor O Brien
who had been appointed the third
English Earl
of Thomond, had revolted against the personal indignity of the Assizes being held against the
Irish Dal gCais Septs in Co. Clare in the north - west of the
Munster Province by Sir Edward Fitton the
English appointed President in
the
Connacht Province, which Co. Clare was previously
geographically
part of,
and he had then been forced to flee the scene in fear of
his life, but this year, he was
to be reinstated to
his former English "official" position after he had
personally gone to England to see
Elizabeth 1st, and when
Sir
Edward Fitton was to come down once again a year later into Co.
Clare,
Myler / Mael Muire Magrath, now also became the notorious Ascendancy Church of England / Ireland Archbishop of Cashel in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province, where he added further to his accumulating wealth, as he now held 4 positions as an Episcopalian Bishop at the one time, and was also receiving the imposed Tithes to the Church of England / Ireland from 77 livings.
1572 AD Elizabeth 1st the Welsh Tudor English Queen now also laid "claim" to the English Mortimers and also their confiscated Estates, and called herself the Countess of Ulster, and had Sir Thomas Smith colonize the Ards Peninsula and all of the territory there in the north - east of the Ulster Province from Coleraine down to Belfast, which she wanted to share with her favourite, Sir Walter Devereux / Dearbhrus / de Evreux the first English Earl of Essex, but Sir Henry Sidney, her appointed Lord Deputy in Ireland, did not agree with her decision, and besides this Sir Walter Devereux was also not welcome at all in Ulster where he would carry out terrible atrocities on the Irish population there. He was to come up against the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Colla Uais Mac Donnells / Mac Donalds and the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain O Nialls of Clannaboye there in the north - east of Ulster, and eventually had to give up any chance of taking over any of the territory in that region, so she eventually granted him the Barony of Farney further down in Co. Monaghan in the South West of Ulster instead, where he was to build a castle against the Irish Septs there at Carrickmacross / Carraig Mhachaire Rois (The Rock of the Plain of Ross.)
The town of
Ballymore Eustace,
which was an old
English Pale town
held by the
Fitz Eustace Anglo - Norman Barons on the
Liffey
River in
Co. Kildare
was burnt down by the
Irish
Septs in
Southern
Leinster.
1573 AD Sir Walter Devereux the first English Earl of Essex, who was Elizabeth 1st's favourite, whom she had appointed the English Earl Marshall in Ireland followed her instructions to the letter using her "Scorched Earth Policy" of "Slash and Burn" with terrible treachery and slaughter on the Irish Families there in the Ulster Province.
The Irish Brehon Law and
Irish Tanistry / heir apparent was now seemingly
lost to all of the Gaelic Irish Septs, and in
the Heberian Dal gCais kingdom of
Thomond
/ Northern Munster a
state of constant internal turmoil had developed between the leading Heberian Dal gCais
Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Ui
mBriain
O Brian Septs, over who now had the real
authority there, as they now continued to scramble over who was the
actual Irish
Heberian Dal gCais Chieftain left among them,
and many from the
Dal gCais
Families were now forced once again into conflict with their fellow Dalcassians in
Co. Clare, hoping to decide the issue,
which only further suited the English purpose.
1574 AD Elizabeth 1st
the Welsh Tudor
English
Queen intended to "officially" force the English Shire system on the
Ulster Province, and
to this end English Sheriffs were appointed and the Irish
Families and
Anglo - Norman / Old English there
were once again put
under further pressure to resist the continuing takeover of their
individual territories there, as
1575 AD
Sir Walter Devereux, the first English Earl of Essex, had
attacked
Sorley
Boy
/ Buidhe
- of the Yellow Hair
Mac Donnell the Catholic Earl
of Antrim who had his
Heremonian Dal Cuinn
Colla Mac Uais
territory there in the
Glens of Antrim in
Co. Antrim
in the
Ulster Province, and
because of this
continuing onslaught he had sent all of the women and children and his valuables
for safe keeping, over onto
Rathlin Island, off the
coast of
Co. Antrim, but Sir Walter
Devereux
had then sent 3 English frigates there, with one under the command of
Sir Francis Drake,
who immediatelywent about killing all of the 200 people who came out of the castle
there, and then began routinely hunting down and
killing the rest of the general population there who were still surviving on the island. (Between
300 to 400
innocent people
were to be ferocially slaughtered,
including many who were hiding out in the caves and on the cliffs by the sea,
and he continued on with this slaughter until all persons on the island were
done away with, leaving no
living survivors).
Seeing
no other alternative against
the endless ethnic and sectarian oppression of Elizabeth1st the
Welsh Tudor English Queen in
Ireland,
Sir
James Fitzmaurice
Fitz Gerald in the Munster Province went to
France to arrange
for
French support to try and stop the
endless slaughter being carried out by Elizabeth 1st's
unbelievable sickening minions, and
while he was away in France seeking help the English
authorities in the Dublin Castle appointed his cousin
Gerald Fitz Gerald
the English
Earl of Desmond to govern
Munster
for them, but despite this he too soon found himself at the head of this
particular
Irish Rebellion instead,
where he was to be defeated by the
English Military forces
with their superior weapons, who then
also turned on the Connacht
Province.
Grace O Malley
/ Grannia Ua Maille, the
Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh
Dal Cuinn
Ui Briuin Ui Maille Pirate
Queen who had her kingdom and territory off of the coast of Co. Mayo
in the Connacht Province went to England this year, where she met with
Elizabeth 1st
the Welsh Tudor English Queen and actually had the
affront to treat her as her equal, and told her straight to her face that she did
nothing physical
herself to accomplish any of her terrible edicts in Ireland,
and on her way back to Connacht she called in at
Howth Castle, which was situated on the coast in
Dublin in
Co. Dublin in the
north - east of Southern Leinster, were all of the gates
were closed, so in retribution she abducted the young
English Lord of
Howth and took him with her to her fort at
Carrigahooly
Castle
on
Clare Island
near
Newport in
Co. Mayo
in the mid - west of Connacht.
(She only returned him when they agreed to keep their gates open at dinner time).
1576 AD
Sir Henry Sidney,
the English Lord Deputy
in Ireland,
for Elizabeth 1st abolished the ancient
Irish
Celtic
customs in the
Munster
Province,
and made
Donnell
O Brien, who was
previously the nominated
Dalcassian
Prince
/ Tanaiste
of Thomond
/ Northern Munster,
who now resided at
Ennistymon in the north - west of
Co. Clare, the
English Governor of
Co. Clare,
and he proved to be a
real "survivor" as he began to hang his
own Dalcassian
people who were now classified by the English as "Irish Rebels" for resisting the English take over of
all of their
lands, and he also had
the English
now
separate
Co. Clare
"officially" topographically from the
Connacht
Province under English Law,
and joined into
Munster
Province.
To further try and bring to an end any further chance of Irish
Uprisings by the
Dalcassian
Families
against the ongoing English confiscations
and ethnic and sectarian oppression,
Sir
William Dury who was the
recent English appointed President
of
Munster,
hung several of
the more prominent Heberian
Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Ui mBriain O Brians. He also held another
English Assizes for
8 days, where he compelled the inhabitants of
Munster Province to pay
10 pounds for each
English Barony in
Ireland to
Elizabeth 1st
the
Welsh
Tudor English Queen who then conveyed
all of the Catholic Church lands
in Co. Clare and their livings, to her new found friend
and ally,
Sir
Donnell O Brien after he personally
journeyed to see her in
England.
The
Anglo - Norman / Old English Fitz Geralds
/ Geraldines
and
Thomas Butler
the
English Royalist 10th Earl
of Ormonde,
who had been reared for an English purpose,
came into personal conflict and
a battle occurred between them at
Affane in
Co. Waterford
in the south - east of the Munster Province.
Of the
205
Irish
Catholic parishes in the O Melaghlins / Mac
Loughlins Heremonian Dal
Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill
Clann Cholmain's kingdom of
Meath in the
south - east of Northern Leinster, the
English
Episcopalian Ascendancy had taken over
105,
but not one of them had a
resident clergyman.
Grace
O Malley,
the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ui
Maille Pirate Queen also held
Kildownet Castle on
Achill Island in Co.
Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province, and
she was to
go to
Galway City to see the English Governor of
Connacht there and offer
her services to
him, together with 3 Galleys and 200 men, and
as a consequence she now also began to
harass other Irish Septs.
Hugh Dowdell,
the Ascendancy Episcopalian Archbishop of
Armagh
in the south - east of the Ulster Province, advocated the
expulsion of
all of the
Scottish settlers in the north - east of the
Ulster Provence, who had been
previously brought in there by the
Heremonian
Ui Cobhthaigh
Dal Cuinn Colla Uais
Mac Donnells / Mac Donalds the Catholic Earls of
Antrim who had their territory in the north - east of
Co. Antrim.
Kilcolman Abbey
in
Co. Kerry in the south
- west of the Munster Province, was
suppressed this year by English Militia and it was then given over to
Captain Spring, who was newly arrived
from England, while the
Poulnaraha
Priory in
Co. Kerry,
that had been founded by
Geoffrey de Marisco, the Anglo - Norman Baron
in 1215 AD, on the
original site of the Celtic monastery of
Killagla
/ Cill Acaro
(The Church of
the Field) was also suppressed, and the territory
there was also given over to Captain
Spring, with "No
Irish
allowed to buy or rent." (Later on in the middle of the 17th Century AD it was to be taken over by
Oliver
Cromwell the English Protector, during his particular
"Bloody Massacres, and given to the
Godfreys who are still there today). Some of the
Mac Godfreys /
Mheic Gothraidh who took up this English name were
not connected as they are a Family branch of the
Heremonian Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch Maguires
of Co. Fermanagh
