Gentian: Gentiana amarella: Uncertainty - For those who are easily discouraged and prone to pessimism although they may be progressing well either in illness or in daily life, but any small delay or hindrance causes doubt and disheartens. Horses: for Nastiness (Biting, Kicking and Striking.) Complimentary Flowers: Larch, Mimulus and Willow.

Gorse: Ulex europoeus: Uncertainty - For those who it all seems to be hopeless and believe they have lost any chance of any more being done to correct their situation although they may try different treatments while affirming to others that there is little hope of relief. Horses: used for Hopelessness and should be used if the Horse is not recovering well from illness and does not want to eat. Encourages effort to heal, especially if given with Parsley, Sage and Yarrow.

 

 Heather: Calluna vulgaris: Loneliness - For those who are self - concentrated and always demanding the attention of others and find it necessary to discuss their own affairs with others and are therefore poor listeners. Horses: To settle down alone and is used with others to create dependence such as Centaury. Complimentary Flowers: Chicory and Willow.

Holly: Ilex aquifolium: Over - Sensitive to Influence - For those who are easily irritated and aggressive with thoughts of envy, jealousy, revenge or suspicion and suffer within when there is actually no real cause for these feelings of  unhappiness. Horses: for Aggessiveness and Anger, Hatred and Suspicion. (May also show up as self - damage.) Give with Rescue Remedy to mitigate the effects of being released. Complimentary Flowers: Impatiens and Willow.

Honeysuckle: Lonicera caprifolium: Lack of Interest - For those who dwell in the past, when they had great happiness or lost a real friend or their ambitions have not come to fruition and expect there is no chance of any further happiness such as has gone. Horses: used for those who are Anxious. Complimentary Flowers: Chestnut Bud, Mimulus, Pine, Star of Bethlehem and White Chestnut.

 Hornbeam: Carpinus betulus: Uncertainty - Monday Morning Remedy / For those who are worn out by everyday routine mentally and physically and cannot carry the burdens of life such as their daily affairs although they can succeed generally in fulfilling their tasks. They personally believe that some part of their Body or Mind needs strengthening to fulfill their work. Horses: for the mentally physically exhausted through illness or boredom or the wrong training. N.B: Works quickly so discontinue when O.K. Complimentary Flowers: Chestnut Bud, Mustard and Olive.

 

Impatiens: Impatiens glandulifera: Loneliness - For those who are impatient creating difficulties and stress for themselves and others wishing all things to be done immediately finding it difficult to be patient with anyone who is slow and endeavour to make them quicker and usually like to do their own thing at their own speed.  (Another one of the 5 Essences in Rescue Remedy.) Horses: Used for Irritability and Nervousness such as for those digging holes and pawing often showing up as loose manure. Complimentary Flowers: Beech and Chestnut Bud.

 

Larch: Larix decidua: Despair - For those who feel inhibited and dissatisfied with themselves with feelings of not being as good at things as those around them and therefore do not make a strong enough attempt when it is needed to succeed. Horses: used for a lack of confidence on previously abused Horses to make bolder. Complimentary Flowers: Centaury, Cerato, Gentian, Honeysuckle, Mimulus and Star of Bethlehem.

 

Mimulus: Mimulus guttatus: Fear - For those who have personal fears and a need to cope in any situation such as illness, pain, accidents, poverty, fear of the dark, of being alone, of misfortune, of everyday life. For those who quietly and secretly bear their dread and do not speak of it freely to others. Horses: for known fears and used with Aspen. Complimentary Flowers: Gentian, Honeysuckle, Larch, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem.

 Mustard: Sinapis arvensis: Lack of Interest - For those who feel sad and empty without knowing why / Depression, periods of gloom, even despair removing the light and joy of life with possibly no reason why they feel this way and make it impossible to feel happy. Horses: for Hormone balance in Mares along with herbs and used with Gorse for depression caused by chronic illness. Complimentary Flowers: Gorse, Larch, Olive, Sweet Chestnut and Willow.

 

Oak: Quercus robur: Despair - For those who do not willingly give up, but need respite, usually brave people fighting against great difficulties without loss of any hope or effort on their part while being discontented if illness interferes with their duties or while they are still attempting to help others. Horses: for those who are valiant and keep going on physically, even if despondent. Rebuilds physical strength so it is good for Horses that require stamina. Complimentary Flowers: Rock Water.

Olive: Olea europoea: Lack of Interest - For those who feel totally exhausted and overtaxed who have suffered mentally or physically and the daily grind is too hard without any pleasure. Horses: for Mental and Physical exhaustion usually from chronic illness. Useful for those who are suffering post - viral syndrome. Complimentary Flowers: Centaury, Chicory, Crab Apple, Larch, Oak, Rock Water and Vervain.

 

Pine: Pinus sylvestris: Despair - For those who have exaggerated feelings of guilt, self - reproach and unworthiness who always consider that they could have done better and are never content with their own efforts even though they are hard working. Complimentary Flowers: Gorse, Honeysuckle, Rock Water, Sweet Chestnut and White Chestnut.

 

Red Chestnut: Aesculus carnea: Fear - For those who worry too much about loved ones or other people feeling that some unfortunate thing may occur even while ceasing to worry about themselves. Horses: for concern such as Mares over Foals or their Owner, or their Mates who cannot handle separation. Complimentary Flowers: Chicory, Gentian, Honeysuckle, Mimulus, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem.
