                                                                                                                                          AFRICAN TRYPANOSOMIASIS - AGUE 

 

AFRICAN TRYPANOSOMIASIS - Sleeping Sickness: Symptoms: Causes a local inflammatory reaction of the Skin that may develop into a hard sore and severe headache, difficulty in sleeping and a feeling of misery progressing to apathy, weakness, drowsiness and death if untreated.

 Cause: An Infection of the Brain by Blood sucking Parasites spread by the Tsetse Flies in Africa.

 

AGGLUTINATION: Cause: Clumping or sticking together of a number of small particles in Fluid such as Bacteria and Red Blood Cells when exposed to an antibody that reacts with an antigen they contain.  

                                    

AGE SPOTS - Liver Spots:  Include Carrot, Beetroot and Green Juices in the diet and reduce Fatty and Fried foods. Include more roughage in the diet. To fade the spots use the Juice of the Leek. Internally: Dandelion Tea. Externally: Calendula Juice, Ladies Bedstraw Tea or Cream, and dab on Swedish Bitters. See also Therapies.

 

AGEING: By 18 years of age there is already some degeneration in the Coronary Arteries and in the later 20's there is a decline in physical prowess. By the 30's there is a gradual decline that can be kept in check by diet, regular exercise and avoiding adverse health factors such as alcohol, smoking and obesity. During the 40's and 50's the process quickens especially in the Female due to the rapid loss of the Female Hormone output at Menopause. In the 60's and 70's they become apparent as white hair, stiffer Joints, and wrinkled Skin and degeneration of the Arteries leading onto Coronary Heart Disease or impaired Blood Circulation in the Brain.

Treatment:Keep as fit as possible and prevent Disease by leading a healthy life, exercise and well - balanced meals.

Herbs: American Ginseng, Chamomile, Echinacea, Evening Primrose Seeds, Garlic, Ginkgo, Gotu Kola, Horsetail, Milk Thistle, Peppermint, Purslane, Thyme and Willow.  Drink two anti - Oxidant Teas a day to neutralize Free Radicals, the naturally occurring Oxygen Molecules / Oxidants that damage the Body.  Replace Coffee with Herbal Teas containing anti - Oxidants such as Bee Balm, Lemon Balm / Melissa, Oregano, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sage, Spearmint, Savory and Thyme.  Eat one big Salad a day including wild greens such as Chicory, Purslane and Spinach as green leaves are full of anti - Oxidants / Nutrients that protect against Cancer, Heart Disease and other Degenerative Diseases. (The greener the Leaves the more anti - Oxidants they contain) Eat 1 - 2 Brazil Nuts a day as they contain the anti - Oxidant Mineral / Selenium - 70 micrograms. Eat Sunflower Seeds and other Nuts as they contain Vitamin E.  Eat Broccoli, Carrot and Celery Stalks as they are high in Fibre and Carrot and Celery high in Beta - Carotene a powerful anti - Oxidant that the Body changes to Vitamin A. Celery is high in Apigenin a chemical compound that dilates the Blood Vessels and may assist to prevent High Blood Pressure. Take any Fruits that appeal such as Apples, Bananas, Berries, Grapefruit, Melons and Oranges and blend together, but don't Juice as this separates the Fibre, which is good for the Digestive Tract. You can also add Cinnamon and Yoghurt.  Stevia from Paraguay can be used instead of using Artificial Sweetener. Replace one Meat course a day with a Vegetarian dish such as mashed Avocado, Garlic, Hot Chilli, Pepper, Lemon Juice sprinkled with chopped Nuts such as Brazil, Cashews, Hazel, Macadamias and Pistachio. All are rich in Mono - Unsaturated Fatty Acids that are good for the Heart etc. N.B: Do not use the Nuts if overweight as they are also High in Calories.) Use Olive Oil as it is Mono - Unsaturated as other Vegetable Oils are Poly - Unsaturated and not as good for you. Eat a great variety of Fruit and Vegetables, Herbs, Nuts and Spices. Exercise every day for at least 30 minutes and protect yourself from the Sun / Ultraviolet Radiation as normally you would receive adequate Vitamin D during normal activities if outdoors. N.B: Do not consume Alcohol and Medications that are not actually necessary and Tobacco as these make your Liver work harder then it has to and vary your diet.

 

AGEING SPOTS - Amyloidosis: Symptoms: Little brown Spots that often first appear on the back of the Hands, but they do not indicate Disease.

Cause: May be the first signs of anti - Oxidant deficiency in the diet as they are caused by an Oxidant build up of Free Radicals as you get older. Ingest as much anti - Oxidant food in the diet as possible, those rich in Vitamins A, C and E, Zinc and Ginseng. Take Cod Liver Oil as it contains Vitamin A, D and essential Fatty Acids, Beta - Carotene, Vitamin C / Ascorbic Acid, Selenium, Garlic, Korean Ginseng and Zinc.

 

AGORAPHOBIA Also see Phobia: Symptoms: A Psychotic / Irrational Condition in which the sufferer fears wide, open places and is hesitant to leave their home and is much more common in Women in which there is a terrifying feeling of panic, often with a racing heart, profuse sweating and trembling. There may even be a feeling that they are going to die until they return indoors.

Cause: May be linked to frightening experiences in early childhood including excessively harsh or terrifying punishments inflicted by parents or superiors.

 

AGRANULOCYTOSIS A severe illness characterized by a gross deficiency of White Blood Cells that are produced in the spongy centre or marrow of the Long Bones to defend the Body against Infection.

AGUE: Symptoms: Feverish Chills allied with Depression and Fatigue.
