Tea: 1 - 5 teaspoons of the dried herb
and only drink one cup a day. The Leaves are
eaten as food in Asia. Fennel:
increases Libido of both Sexes as it has
compounds that act like Oestrogen and is to
promote Milk flow in Nursing mothers.
N.B:
Do not use Fennel
Oil, as in Pregnant
Women it can cause Miscarriage and in doses
greater then a teaspoon it can be Toxic.
Fenugreek:
has Oestrogen - like activity, that may
increase Breast size and aid in Milk
production for Nursing mothers. Oestrogen
also assists with Vaginal dryness.
Ginger:
may assist in this Condition. Ginseng:
used as an Aphrodisiac for Men but also for a
loss of Sexual desire in Women.
Dosage:
1/2 teaspoon or so of Tincture in Juice. Parsley:
is Oestrogenic used to promote Menstruation
and Milk production, facilitating Childbirth and increasing Female Libido.
Quebracho:
used as an Aphrodisiac as it contains Yohimbine
the active compound in Yohimbe. N.B:
Do not use if you have High
Blood Pressure and stop using if there are any
side effects such as Dizziness.
Saw Palmetto: used to restore
Libido in
Women and is also used to shrink enlarged Prostate
Glands in Men as it contains
Beta - Sitosterol, which has Aphrodisiac effects.
Can be purchased in Capsule and
Tincture form. Wild Yam: made into Salves for
Women experiencing Post -
Menstrual Vaginal dryness
as it contains Oestrogen
precursors. Whirr the inner portion of
the Yam in a Blender and add to a commercial Vaginal
lubricant. Yohimbe: It is better to use Yohimbine
the compound derived from the herb. N.B:
This herb can elevate
Blood Pressure and should only be
used under Specialist prescription.
INJURIES:
Stop the Bleeding using a Towel with Pressure
on the Wound and at the same time apply a Styptic
to assist the flow. Yarrow
is useful for this, either Fresh Leaves
or a mixture with Calendula Herbal Extract or
straight or diluted at about 15% extract in water.
(Calendula has high anti
- Septic properties.) Internally
administer Bach Rescue Remedy. Clean
with Disinfectant only
once, as it retards healing, then cover with healing
Ointment such as Aloe Vera and Comfrey
or similar. Use as mild a Disinfectant as possible to prevent
scarring
and promote healing as fast as possible or soak
a pad in Flint's Oils and apply to the cleaned
Wound keeping the pad moist at all times. (Good for Broken
Knees to prevent scarring in Horses.) Minor
Injuries: Stop the Bleeding
and clean the
Wound by flushing
with a mild Saline
Solution in a
syringe. Then use diluted Yarrow
and Calendula Extract
and bandage. (Also give
Tetanus injections if required.) Prevent
Infection for at least 3 days with regular
cleaning and applying Calendula either
15% Extract diluted in water or as an Ointment.
Calendula also assists
in preventing Scarring. Also apply Raw
Honey with or without a bandage. If
there is no Infection use Comfrey
Ointment or a Poultice of fresh
Comfrey Leaves pounded with Water
and held in place by a bandage. Dried Comfrey Leaves
can also be reconstituted as a Green
Leaf. Horses:

Interferes with healing,
as the Epithetial Cells cannot create a new Skin
covering. If Scarring occurs over or near
a JOINT the Skin
can be pulled tight and this will restrict
the Joint’s movement.

If not available give the Horse 10 grams (1 x Dessertspoon of Vitamin

Punctured
Injuries: Castor Oil will float off
debris and grow Hair back later. Comfrey
can also assist to prevent Arthritis from
developing. Raw Honey can be used Internally
and Externally as a natural Anti - Biotic and
healer. N.B: Processed commercial Honey
from the Supermarkets has been stripped of its healing
powers in the processing.

INSECT BITES and STINGS: Herbs: Externally - Calendula, Garlic, Onion and Plantain. Basil: used mainly as a Spice, but the Leaves can be rubbed on the Skin as an Insect repellent. Calendula Flower: rubbed on the affected part for pain and swelling caused by a Bee or Wasp. Citronella: a lemon scented plant from Asia used as an Insect repellent and used in candles to ward off Mosquitoes. N.B: Pure Citronella Oil can be irritating to the Skin and should never be ingested. If using dilute by adding several drops to a Vegetable Oil base and rub directly on the Skin. Citronella Oil and Tea Tree Oil control Aphids on plants. Citrus and Citrus like Aromatic properties Essential Oil: repels Insects and should be diluted with several drops to a Vegetable Oil base and combine to suite. Dill: as an Insecticide similar to Basil and Lavender keeping Flies and Mosquitoes at bay with 1 x Tablespoon of Dill Oil or Plant near doors and windows. Garden - as the Yellow Flowers also attract beneficial predators, Ladybirds, Hoverflies and Lacewings, with 1 Hoverfly capable of consuming 1200 Aphids. Essential Oils: Citronella, Lavender and Pennyroyal mixed drops to suite, in a Vegetable Oil base. N.B: Do not ingest as Essential Oils can be Toxic. Garlic and Onion: Contain Enzymes that break down the chemical substances known as Prostaglandins released by the Body in response to pain and both work Internally and Externally, or you can make a Poultice and apply directly to the Bites and Stings and eat foods that contain them. N.B: Onion Skin contains Quercetin the anti - Allergic chemical that relieves Inflammation. Leave the Skin on when cooking Soups and Stews and take out the skin before serving. Other Herbs: Chamomile, Flanders Poppy, Indigo and St. John's Wort. Rub the fresh herb onto the injury and only use if the other herbs are not available. Lemon Grass: closely related to Citronella containing many of the same compounds. Crush and rub on the Skin. Mountain Mint and Pennyroyal: contain Pulegone a powerful Insect repellent, and Pennyroyal is also effective against Fleas. Mountain Mint works better then Pennyroyal and pick some Leaves and rub them on the Skin and clothing. N.B: Do not use Pennyroyal or Mountain Mint if Pregnant as the ingredients in these herbs increase the risk of Miscarriage. Plantain: used for Insect Bites by rubbing it on directly or make a Poultice for Bee Stings by cleaning the Leaves first and applying.
INSECTS, TICKS
and MIDGES - Horses: 450 Kg. Horse = 1 x Tablespoon Dried Granulated
Garlic daily. Reduce or Increase
to suite the size. The Blood
becomes unpalatable for biting Insects and
also deters Worms in the Gut.
Repellent:
500 ml Spray / 200 ml Apple Cider Vinegar,
300ml Wormwood Tea, 15
drops Citronella Oil,
5 ml Neem Seed Oil, 3 drops of Eucalyptus
Oil. *Apply Tea
Tree Oil to all exposed areas and avoid contact with Eyes
or Mouth. Wormwood
Tea: Take a double handful of
Dried Wormwood and
add to 500 ml of boiling water, allow to stand
for 15 minutes or more, then strain and squeeze the Water out of the Herb
by hand. N.B: Do not use on Broken
Skin or near the
Eyes.
Spray around the Coronet Band on
the Legs and under the Belly
area or the rest of the Body if not rugged.
Cover the Body with a White Cotton Rug with a
sewn - in Neck rug and Fly
veil. Shampoo Horses regularly with Herbal Shampoo
and Conditioner. To
sooth and heal Bites:

with Anti - Parasite and Gut
health Mixture for External and
Internal Parasite Control) A Liver
Cleanser would also be useful for Horses
treated previously with Chemical Insect treatments.
INSOMNIA: Cause -: Biochemical imbalances and Psychological problems. Biochemical imbalances can be treated by diet and natural remedies. Regular exercise - 1hour walk in the morning and again after the evening meal. Release Tension with stretching exercises. Limit Alcohol and especially Caffeine (Coffee and Tea) Late Meals and Sugar intake. Anxiety and Medication can also be a cause. Take a warm Bath or Shower and follow with an Epsom Salts drench by dissolving 50gm of Epsom Salts in 1 litre of warm water. Keep the rooms well ventilated, as over heated conditions are hard to sleep in. Take a hot Cup of Milk with Honey and grated Nutmeg or an Apple before retiring. Lavender - put a few drops on the pillow or in the Bath. Chew Aniseed and Dill. Warm Foot Bath with Thyme Infusion. Drink Thyme Tea before retiring. Drink a warm drink such as skim milk or soy milk as both contain Tryptophan for the Brain. Include Vitamin B3 and Vitamin B6 in the diet to ensure Serentonin the sleep producing natural Hormone is converted from the Amino Acid, L - Tryptophan. Protein should be minimised in the evening meal and ingest mainly Carbohydrates instead. Anxiety Mix: Californian Poppy, Hawthorn and Hops. Herbs: Aniseed: Chamomile: used as a bedtime Tea as it contains Apigenin an effective Sedative compound. Californian Poppy: Catnip: has mild tranquillizing, hypnotic, Sedative effects as it contains Nepetalactone Isomers a chemical similar to the Sedative constituents of Valerian. Tea: Try a cup about 45 minutes before bedtime. Hops: is a grape - like perennial vine and is used to treat Anxiety, Insomnia and Restlessness as it contains the Sedative, Methyl - Butenol, which effects the Central Nervous System and can be consumed as a bitter - tasting Tea. Insomnia Mix: Californian Poppy, Passionflower and Valerian. Hops - use only 1/2 teaspoon a day), Herbal Formulas, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Passionflower - use only 1/2 teaspoon a day) Rooibos, Sage Milk and Valerian. Lavender Oil: used for Insomnia in a warm Bath or sprinkled on bed - clothes. Some components of the Oil affect Cell Membranes interrupting the interaction of Cells with each other slowing Nerve impulses reducing irritability and bringing on sleep and also has an Anaesthetic effect. N.B: Not all Lavenders are tranquillizing, especially Spanish as it may have a stimulating action similar to Rosemary. (Essential Oils are used Externally only.) Lemon Balm / Melissa: is a Sedative and Stomach soother due to chemical compounds known as Terpenes. Basil, Clove, Ginger and Juniper have more, but Lemon Balm has the best combination and reputation as a Bedtime herb. Tea: 2 - 4 teaspoons of the dried herb per cup of boiling water. Passionflower: is a mild Sedative and is used to treat Anxiety, Insomnia and Nervous Tension. Rooibos: is an African Legume as a bedtime Tea and to improve appetite, calm the Digestive Tract and reduce Nervous Tension. Regarded safe enough for Infants. Stress Mix: 2 parts each of Chamomile, Lavender, Lemon Balm and Linden with 1 part Orange Peel. Valerian Tea: 1-2 teaspoons of the dried Root 30 minutes before bedtime will promote sleepiness and can be drunk several times a day to relieve anxiety, Nervousness and Restlessness. It has a rank aroma and taste and can be utilised in Capsules or Tincture. Long time sufferer: include a Nervous System Tonic. Tea: 1 Teaspoon each of dried Chamomile, Lemon Balm and Vervain into a pot and add 2 1/2 cups of boiling water, steep for 10 minutes, strain and drink 1 cup after tea and warm the balance and drink before going to bed. If it persists add a decoction of 1 teaspoon of Valerian Root or 1/2 teaspoon of dried Hops or Californian Poppy. Compound Infusions: Passiflora - 2, Hops - 1, Wild Lettuce - 1, Lime Tree Flowers - 2. Formula: 30 mg. Lupulus, 180 mg. Valerian, 60 mg. Vervain and 90 mg. of the aqueous extractive of Passiflora and Wild Lettuce. Formula: Valerian - 600mg of the dried herb, Scullcap - 300mg of the dried herb, Passionflower / Passiflora - 500mg of the dried herb, Hops - 200mg of the dried herb, Vitamin B3 - 100mg, Vitamin B - 20mg. Take I hour before bed with a glass of warm low Fat Milk and do not eat a large meal before bedtime.
INTERMITTENT CLAUDICATION: Affects both Men and Women after he age of 50, but Elderly Men suffer more from this Condition then Women. Diabetics are particularly at risk and those people with high levels of Cholesterol in the Blood. Symptoms: The Calf Muscle is most often affected but there may also be pain in the Buttock and Thigh area with tightness, numbness and severe fatigue in the offending Muscle. Usually an intermittent Cramp that creates pain in the Calf Muscle when walking, that can come on slowly or strike suddenly with a burning like experience until eventually it becomes so bad that you have to stop and rest.
Cause: Restricted Circulation due to Obstruction by the Hardening or Narrowing of the Arteries in the Legs, reducing the Blood Flow and therefore the Oxygen to the Muscles when walking, and the inability of these Blood Vessels to supply it, creating pain and lameness. High Cholesterol causes plaque to build up in the Arteries, with either Buerger's Disease or Cigarette Smoking causing a reduction in Blood flow to the Legs.
Treatment: Exercise regularly, maintain correct weight for height and stop Smoking as it causes narrowing of the Arteries. Alpha Tocopherol / Vitamin E lowers the viscosity (thins the Blood), has Anti - Clotting action, and improves the Oxygen supply to the Oxygen - starved Tissues. Herbs: Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo Biloba, Formula: Vitamin E - up to 1000 IU a day starting with 100IU and increase slowly if suffering from High Blood Pressure, also need Magnesium, Vitamin C and Flavanoids and Evening Primrose Oil (500mg in 1 Capsule Morning and Night.)

Herbs:
Cinchona Bark: contains
the compounds that are the source of Quinine

It also contains 20 active compounds besides
Quinine and Quinidine, and most are active against Amoebas.
Tea: tastes very Bitter - steep 1/2 teaspoon of powdered bark in a cup of boiling
water for 10 minutes and drink 2 - 3 cups a day. Cubeb
- Ground: is a Spice related to Black
Pepper and is used to treat Amebic Dysentery and can be included in cooking. Elecampane
/ Wild Sunflower: contains 2 Anti
- Amebic compounds, Alantolactone
and Isoalantolactone. Dosage: Bring a cup of water to the boil then
drop in 1 teaspoon of the herb and simmer for 20 minutes and drink up to 3 cups
a day. Golden Seal:
contains Berberine a proven Amebicide
is available in 5 herbs with yellow roots including Golden
Seal, Gold Thread, Barberry, Oregon Grape and Yellow Root.
N.B:
Do not over use as it
is 10 times as strong as required to kill the Parasites. Dosage: 1/3 to 1/2 ounce only of the dried
herb divided into 3 parts and taken over
1 day in Capsules or Tea. N.B:
Also do not use if Pregnant
because it could cause Miscarriage.
Ipecac Root:
used to induce Vomiting when a child ingests poison.
As it also contains at least 3 Amebecidal compounds,
Cephaeline, Debhydoemetine
and
Emetine it
also kills Amoebas. Dosage: 30 drops of an
Ipecac Tincture made up of part Ipecac
and part Alcohol. (1
time treatment only.) Papaya:
contains both anti - Septic
and anti
- Parasitic compounds including Carpaine.
Add a few crushed Seeds to any Fruit
Juice. Sweet Annie: contains Artemisinin
and is used to fight the Malarial Organism
that is related to Amoeba. Tea:

A rinse made from Chamomile and or / Calendula Tea and / or fresh Aloe Vera Gel direct from the plant also is soothing and healing to the damaged Skin. Also another Skin wash can be made from Calendula and Golden Seal extracts together with Crab Apple and Rescue Remedy. Internally: Protect by adding 1 x Tablespoon of crushed or dried Granulated Garlic to the diet twice daily for 450 kg Horse. Sweet feeds such as Molasses should not be fed only natural feed and supplements. Do not feed any oils or oil based feeds except those recommended mixed Herbs. Should be fed for a full Blood Cycle of 12 weeks of External and Internal Oil Herbal treatment. Aloes, Chamomile, Devil's Claw, Echinacea, Euphorbia, Fenugreek, Garlic, Liquorice, Rosehips and Vervain. Bach Essences: - Beech, Impatiens, Rescue Remedy and Vervain.
ITCHINESS: Herbs: Chamomile, Euphorbia, Fenugreek and Vervain. Internally: Aloes and Garlic. Externally: Calendula, Golden Seal and St. John's Wort. Aloe Vera Gel - to apply to soothe and heal. Hypericum Oil is also useful as an external first aid for relief. Liquorice is also a good choice.
Horses:
Hot and Agitated from an Allergic
Reaction give 60ml Chamomile Tea
Internally using a Syringe as well as Rescue Remedy.
Relief should be obtained after 2 x doses half an hour apart - if not, a single Cortisone
Injection by a Vet often works to settle.
