Chambers / de la Chambre. Anglo Norman origins in the Ulster Province and Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. Also see Cambridge.

Chamney. Originally Champney / le Champagnois from Champagne in Co. Wicklow and Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster in the 17th and 18th Centuries AD.

 

Chaney. Used as a variant for Cheney, which see.

 

Chapman. English occupational name in all Provinces early as le Chapman in the 13th Century AD, and later in the Connacht Province in 1629 AD and later still they were in Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Northern Munster, Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster, nearby in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster and Co. Charters / Chartres. French toponymic. Huguenot origins in Co. Cork in Desmond / Southern Munster in the 17th Century AD and are now in the Ulster Province.

Cheasty. Gaelic Irish / Ua Sosta / Ua Seasta. A Sept / Family branch of the Tuath Ui Ciosta corrupted as Tuosist, who had their territory at Kilmacolloge in Co. Kerry in the south - west of Des Mhumhain / Desmond / Southern Munster, and were also in Co. Waterford in the south - east of Aur Mhumhain / Ormond / North Eastern Munster.

 

Cheevers or Chivers. French origins - chievre / goat in Co. Wicklow in the south - east of Southern Leinster since the Anglo - Norman Invasion under Strongbow and Henry 11 in the 12th Century AD. As Anglo - Irish Catholics they were treated harshly after the Oliver Cromwell Invasion during his foreign non - Catholic plantations in Ireland.
