O Cullen or O Cullin - Irish / Ua Cuilin. Heberian Eoghanacht Chaisil Sept / Family branch, who were the Chiefs of Coille Cullin who had their territory in Co. Kildare and Co. Wexford in Southern Leinster, and were also Chiefs in Co. Wicklow in the south - east of Southern Leinster. Their territory was also at Dunkerron in Co. Kerry in the Munster Province under the O Sullivans, and also Kilcullen in Co. Kildare. Before the 13th Century they also had Glen Cullin in Co. Wicklow, but during the 13th Century they were driven out by the Heremonian Cu Corb O Tooles and O Byrnes. Some of their Septs were also the Chiefs of Arra in Co. Tipperary and part of Connello in Co. Limerick. (This is the Family of Cardinal Paul Cullen.) Now also in the Ulster Province, descended from Murtogh Cullen who was born in 1747 AD who was an Erenagh in Co. Tyrone who was the first one of the Family to go there, who was married to Bridget the daughter of Mark Devlin of Glenoe in Co. Tyrone and he produced 6 sons and one daughter, Patrick, John, James, Charles, Hugh, Michael and Nancy. He died at Belfast and was interred at Donoughmore in Co. Tyrone. Hugh his fifth son, who was born at Eskragh in 1790 AD and died at Belfast  in 1853  AD was married to Esther the daughter of Thomas Carbery of Eskragh and produced 6 sons and 3 daughters, John, James, Hugh, Bernard, Joseph, Matthew, Esther Catherine and Margaret. Bernard. his fourth son who was also born in Belfast in 1829 AD, in 1850 AD married Anne the daughter of William Corless of Clogher in Co. Tyrone and produced 5 sons and one daughter all born in Belfast, Joseph born 1851, Zachary in 1856, Bernard in 1858, Paul in 1861, John 1864 and Mary.
