Deering. English origins from Dering in Kent in the 16th Century AD into Co. Laois in the mid - west of Southern Leinster where they accumulated many Estates also in the surrounding Counties, besides holding many official positions under the English administration and are now mainly to be found in south - east of Leinster.

 

O Deery - Irish / Ua Daighre. Important Ecclesiastical Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province. Not connected to the O Derrys.

 

O Deevy, or O Devoy, which see - Irish / Ua Dubhuidhe / Duibhidhe. Gaelic Milesian Irian Ui Laeghis Cenel Crimthainn / Ui Crimthainn Ain Sept / Family branch, of the O Duff / O Duffy / Ui Duibh Kings of Creamhthainn (Maryborough) Kinsmen also to the O Hourihans / Ui hIndreadhain who had their territory at Ballyduff in Stradbally in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster. They were one of the 7 Septs of Leix / Co. Laois who existed in that territory along with the O Dorans, O Dowlings, Mac Evoys, O Kellys and the O Lalors and O Mores after the Anglo - Norman Invasion. Their alliance began after the 3rd Century AD when the ancestors of the Irian O Mores came into Co. Laois from the Ulster Province who were led by 69.Laoighseach Cean Mor, a son of 68.Conall Cearnach - of the Victories from the Ulster Red Branch Warriors, an associate of Cuchulainn. Co. Laois is named after 69.Laoighseach Cean Mor who assisted 86.Cu Corb the initial ancestor of the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Kings of Leinster to drive the Septs of Munster Province out of what was previously a part of Mogha's Half. They became sub - Kings there and they held together all through the six ethnic and religious rebellions under Elizabeth 1st until they were finally dispersed and relocated elsewhere as the English tried to extend the English Pale around Dublin in Co. Dublin to attack the Gaelic Irish Septs on the outer frontier. They are now also in Co. Kilkenny in what was previously the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Connla kingdom of Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster.

Deey. Origins unknown as yet but they were in Co. Dublin in the north - west of Southern Leinster in the 18th Century AD and in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province.

O Degidan - Irish / Ua Duibhgeadain. A Sept / Family branch who had their territory in the east of Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster. Some may have also changed their name to Dixon.

 

De Ginkel. Dutch English Earls of Athlone who had Estates in Co. Westmeath in Northern Leinster.

 

De Geneville - An Anglo Norman Baron who succeeded the de Lacys as the English Earls of Meath who were later succeeded by the Mortimers the Earls of March in England.

 

O Deheny. Used as a variant for O Doheny, which see.

 

De Hose or de Hosey. Descended from Hugh de Hose the Anglo - Norman Baron who was subject to Hugh de Lacy during the Anglo - Norman Invasion in 1172 AD under Henry 11, who had his Estates at Dees / Barony of Deece in Midhe in Northern Leinster. See also Hussey

Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster. Changed to Dickson in Co. Antrim in the north - east of the Ulster Province.

Delamer / de la Mare. Anglo Norman Barons who had their Estates in Co. Westmeath in the south - west of Northern Leinster with their main branch becoming known as Mac Herbert, which see. who were known as the Oiribertaigh.

O Delaney - Irish / Ua Dubhshlaine / Dubhshlainte (black defiance). A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster from where they were cleared out of Cloneagh twice by the English who were always endeavouring to expand the English Pale around Dublin in Co. Dublin to attack the Gaelic Irish further out on the frontier. Known as O Delane, which see, in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. They were also in Co. Kerry in the south - west of Desmond / Des Mhumhain / Southern Munster and were Chiefs in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster.
