Kerry in the south - west of Desmond where they evolved into further Septs and were Princes / Tanaistes. The O Donoghue Mor had his territory near Loch Leane at Killarney in Co. Kerry were in 1657 AD they had Ross Castle nearby until their lands there were also finally confiscated by the English. Kilkenny in Southern Leinster where they had their main seat at Gowan, which was part of Ossory O Donoghue / Magh Mail / The Plain of Mal where the territory there was originally given by the Septs of Southern Leinster to the Kings of Cashel for the death of Eidirsceal the King of Munster, who was slain on the Hill of Allen in Co. Kildare by 96.Nuadha Neacht the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh King of Leinster / Laigin, and ran from Gowan in Co. Kilkenny to Dun Grianan in Co. Tipperary. It came into the possession of the O Donoghue Sept who were to hold onto it until the end of the 12th Century when it taken from them by the Anglo - Norman Invaders.
