Eoghanachta of Munster - 24.A
833 AD. 100.Coffey / Cobthach mac Maele Duin the Heberian Eoghanacht Locha Lein King, died his year, who was a son of 99.Muldoon / Maele Duin the previous 20a King of Cashel / Munster and he was also to be the last of his particular aristocratic warrior male line emanating from 89.Conall Corc the 1st Heberian King of Cashel / Munster the ancesator of all of the Chaisil Septs, but his brother, 100.Congal would continue the line as the father of 102.Olchobar the future 24th King of Cashel / Munster and Abbe Imlecha Ibair who would then be the very last of the Locha Lein Sept altogether to ever be Munster Kings.
100.Felim mac Crimthainn the Heberian Eoghanacht Chaisil 23rd King of Cashel / Munster raided the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill kingdom of Delbna Bethra again, killing most of the monastic community and burnt everything except the church, and then attacked the monastery again also at Durrow in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster that had been a rival to Clonmacnoise in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster for the favour of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Clann Cholmain Septs, as it had aided a previous Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Niaill King of Ireland against the Munster Province in 766 AD. 100.Felim's hostility to Clonmacnoise, which was situated in the territory that was in Conn's Half / Leith Cuinn was unremitting, as the kingdom of Delbna Bethra belonged to the Fortuath Clann who were subject to the "southern" Ui Niaill and who had there own sub - King who was also subject to Clonmacnoise. They also had possession of the monastery at Lemanaghan / Liath Manchain in Co. Offaly, which had been originally a Munster foundation of St. Manchan that may have also controlled Gallen, which was also situated in Co. Offaly. It was patronized by the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch Ui Maine Kings from the Connacht Province, the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Kings of Connacht and the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Kings of Midhe / Meath in Northern Leinster. It also had subject churches on both sides of the River Shannon and also on Loch Ree, who all suffered from the ongoing Viking raids as well as those from the ever - consistent 100.Felim mac Crimthann. Co. Westmeath and Co. Meath in Northern Leinster were once the Midland Province in Conn's Half until *83.Conn - of the Hundred Battles the Gaelic Milesian Heremonian 110th King of Tara / Ireland had joined it in with Southern Leinster after the death of 83.Mogha. Southern Leinster was always to be a sore point with the Munster Heberian Kings and a never - ending source of dispute between the Heberians and the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn Septs. Heremonian Kings had imposed an onging tribute / borumha in Southern Leinster on the Heremonian Cu Corb Septs, who were also originally from the male line of 59.Ugaine Mor through 84.Cu Corb even before the time of *80.Conn - of the Hundred Battles. They were also imposed on the Heremonian kingdom of Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster who were basically sandwiched in between Southern Leinster and Munster
who were also originally in Mogha's Half.
835 AD. Forindan
/ Forannan the Abbot of Armagh in the south - east of the Ulster Province ousted Diarmait O Tiernan / Ua Tigernain from Armagh who was nevertheless to continue to contest the position for the next 17 years as disputes had arisen shortly after the inauguration of *101.Niall mac hAeda Caille the Gaelic Milesian Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niall Cenel nEoghain 166th King of Ireland, who began also trying to assert his overall authority in Mogha's Half in Southern Leinster. He had also nominated 105.Bran mac Faelan as the new Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Ui Dunlainge Ui Dunchada 25th King of Leinster, but to enforce this he even had to subdue his own kinsmen from the "southern" Ui Niaill Septs so he ravaged their territory in Meath in Northern Leinster as far as Tech Maelchonoe, which was the site of another monastery in their sub - kingdom of Delbna Bethra. During that campaign the men from the Munster Province were to kill Fergus mac Bodbchada of Carraic Brachaide from Inishowen in Co. Derry in Northern Ulster who was one of his "northern" Ui Niaill Chiefs.
The monastery at Tuamgraney in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province came under attack once again from the Vikings during this year, as they were now set up in Limerick in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of Munster across the eastern side of the River Shannon in the Heberian Eoghanacht Sept's territory were 100 Felim mac Crimthainn still seemed to be oblivious of their nefarious activities.
100.Felim mac Crimthainn the Heberian Eoghanacht Chaisil 23rd King of Cashel / Munster now had ambitions of becoming the Gaelic Milesian Heberian Eoghanacht King of Ireland in his own right, and to this end he was politically selective as to who stood in his way, as he was now in a favourable position to bargain with those in religious authority at Armagh in the south - east of the Ulster Province so he decided to take a hand in the dispute putting Diarmait O Tiernan / Ua Tigernain back in as the Abbot of Armagh who he would then be sure that he could count on for support in his bid for the overall Kingship of Ireland. Meanwhile 105.Bran mac Faelan the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Ui Dunlainge Ui Dunchada 25th King of Leinster was still only a nominee of *101.Niall mac Aeda Caille the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 166th King of Ireland for this particular position in Southern Leinster.
836 AD. Forindan and Diarmait O Tiernan / Ua Tigernain the two candidates for the position of Abbot of Armagh went on a circuit of Ireland, with Forindan travelling to Southern Leinster to push his personal case forward for the top religious spot in Ireland. 100.Felim mac Crimthainn the Heberian Eoghanacht Chaisil 23rd King of Cashel / Munster then sacked Kildare in Central Southern Leinster where he captured Forindan who was by then visiting there and held him hostage and he also seized the Cork Abbey in Southern Munster taking the Abbot of Cork from there to Cashel in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province where he subsequently died. As Dowling / Dunlaing mac Cathussaig had earlier been the Abbot of Cork, 100.Felim also assumed that position for himself personally, and meanwhile Diarmait Ua Tigernain, 100.Felim's preferred candidate for the position as the Abbot of Armagh, was successful in his own right in the Connacht Province carrying with him the Crozier of Jesus / Bachall Isa and St. Patrick's Bell.
