Richard and Thomas Fleming came after the Anglo - Norman Invasion in 1172 AD and were subject to Hugh de Lacy acting for Henry 111, and they became the Lords of Slane and had their Estates at Crandon in Co. Meath and other regions including nearby in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster. After 1614 AD others came as foreign planters from Scotland, and were also in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province and Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster. They were also English Barons in Co. Meath and English Viscounts / Earls in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster.
