HONEY - Is a natural healer. Used to Treat: Ageing: as it has high Prophylactic properties that halt or control the process. Calcium Metabolism: 1 Tablespoon x 2 daily contains array of Minerals and Vitamins. Face: mix 1 Tablespoon of Raw Honey with 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil, 1 Egg Yolk and 1 Tablespoon of fresh Fruit Pulp. Apple softens the Skin and acts as an Astringent, Banana smoothes, softens and soothes, Pear is a super moisturizer, Orange has great softening powers, Rockmelon re - hydrates Dry Skin and Strawberry moisturizes, softens and tones. Feet Dry - Flaky: splash warm water on the Feet and rub in a good layer of Honey and leave for 30 minutes to be well absorbed by the Skin and rinse off with warm water and pat dry and continue to use daily until the Condition improves. Food Preservative: Skin: nourishes due to it's high Potassium & Vitamin content, promotes moisture retention, prevents and erases Wrinkles and assists with eruptions. Soak small pads of cotton wool in raw Honey and place on the effected area such as Acne.  and repeat regularly especially after washing and leave on overnight or apply Honey to gauze and wrap over blemishes and renew daily until eruptions are gone. Hand Cream: 2 Tablespoons of Raw Honey, 1 cup of thick Yoghurt and the contents of 1 Vitamin A Capsule and combine all thoroughly and whiz together in a blender until smooth and refrigerate before and after using.

HOPS / Humulus lupulus / Moraceae - female strobilus / Europe. Temperate Climate. *One of the most useful plants. N.B: Do not use during Depressive Illness. N.B: Do not use if Pregnant or Breast Feeding. N.B: The Leaves and Pollen can cause Allergic reactions. Actions: Anodyne, Anti - Spasmodic, Bitter Tonic, Nervine, & Mild Sedative as it contains 2- Methyl - 3 Butene - 2 - Ol, which become stronger when dried. Constituents: Contains Volatile Oils with a specific scent. Cultivation: A Perennial climbing vine to 10 metres with fibrous stems to 4.5 metres / 15". Products: Leaves -  Similar to Grape Vine Leaves, Shoots, Strobiles - Dried Flowers - Medicinal use - cone like produced from the female plants only & Vines - paper & basketry use. Tender young shoots can be eaten raw or cooked and eaten in the Spring. The Fibre originally used to make a coarse fabric and paper. Grows in an open sunny position with moist rich soil and grows on poles, tripods, pyramids etc with the dead material cleared off in Winter. Grown from Seed and / or as only the female plants are required grown from root division in Spring or cuttings in the Summer. Affected by Downy Mildew and Verticillium Wilt. Indigestion: as a Sophorific. Insomnia: as a Sophorific using equal parts of Lime Flowers, Hops & Lemon Balm in a warm Decoction to take before going to bed. Menstrual - Pain: to relieve. Neuralgia: to relieve. Nerves: as an Oil to soothe. Pain: Quickly eases as an Anodyne. Preservative - Flavour: used also in Beer. Sexual: reduces potency. Sleep - Restless: as a Sedative by stuffing pillows with the dried herb to reduce or as an Oil. Or add dried Rose Leaves, Hops, Mint Powders & Clove Powders and put in a bag.     Horses: A Nervine herb used to soothe or as a Tonic and best given as a herbal Extract as all new Beers now contain Chemical Additives. Dosage: not more then 1/2 a teaspoon a day.  

 

HOREHOUND / White Horehound - Marrubium vulgare / Wild Herb -. Britain & Europe. Main use: Chest Remedy. Specific for Bronchial Conditions. Actions: Alterative, anti - Septic, Anti - Spasmodic, Bitter Tonic, Carminative, Cholagogue, Diuretic, Disinfectant, Emmenagogue, Expectorant, Febrifuge, Stimulant, Stomachic & Tonic. Constituents: Cholin, Essential Oil, Fat, Marrubiln (B.P) Mucilage, Neutral Saponin, Nitrate of Potash, Resin, Sugar, Tannin & Wax. Cultivation: A strong erect herb with square stems that flourishes in dry and poor soils and is propagated from Seed sown in Spring or Cuttings by dividing the Roots. Products: the Leaves & Stems are used / the whole herb above the ground. Washings - Wet Packs applied to Eczema & Swollen Glands especially in Nervous & Allergic types. Tea: 1 cup of boiling water onto 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of the dried herb and Infuse for 10 minutes and take 3 times a day. Tincture: 1 - 2ml 3 times a day. Syrup - Cough Medicine: Digest 2 heaped tablespoons of the dried or fresh Horehound in 500ml of water. Steep for 30 minutes, strain and press and evaporate to 250ml and cool & filter. Add 175gm Sugar and bring to the Boil. Can be varied with Liquorice, Fennel or Aniseed to add flavour to the mixture or add Coltsfoot, or Marshmallow plus Plantain for Mucilage to soothe. Take 2 - 4ml. Candy Cough Drops: 1 x heaped Tablespoon of the dried or fresh Horehound in 1 x Cup of boiling water and steep for 30 minutes and strain and add 3 cups of Brown Sugar and 1 x teaspoon of Butter. Cook to a hard - ball - stage and pour on a buttered Cookie sheet.  Used to Treat: Amenorrhoea: Aneamia: combined with Dandelion. Bronchitis: Specific as it is one of the most effective Expectorants known to relieve Coughing whether it is a Dry Cough or whether it is associated with a Lower Respiratory Infection with Irritation, Inflammation & Infection of the Bronchial area. Cardiac - Arrhythmia: Catarrhal - Congestive - non - productive Coughing: Circulation: corrects disturbances of the Blood. Colds - Coughs: Used in most Cough Mixtures to clear Phlegm. Gall Bladder Conditions: combined with Dandelion. Laryngitis: Liver Conditions: combined with Dandelion. Heart - Nervous: to cure. Menstrual - Delayed - Pain: combined with Dandelion Pulmonary Conditions: Stomach: Whooping Cough: to ease. 

 

    Horses: Best use is as a Tea, strained and used to dampen down the feed and as it is a Bitter herb, Raw Honey can be added, which also assists if there is Infection present.  

 

HORSE BALM / Monarda - Used to Treat: Altitude Sickness: Many Mints contain Thymol, Menthol  & Menthone who all have Anti - Aggregant activity. Horse Balm has the most. Other herbs Thyme, Nude Mountain Mint, Wild Bergamot, Winter Savory, Mountain Dittany, Lemon Mint, Basil and California Bay. Alzheimer's Disease: contains Carvacrol a beneficial compound that helps prevent the breakdown of Acetylcholine in the Brain that causes this Disease and also contains Thymol which also prevents it breaking down. HORSENETTLE / Solanum carolinenses. Actions: Anti - Spasmodic & Sedative. Cultivation: A common member of the Nettle Family. Products: Berries & Roots used. Used to Treat: Convulsions - Juvenile: Hysterical Conditions: in Women arising from Menstrual Disorders.
