YARROW / Cure of all Ills  / Milfoil / Achillea millefolium. Britain. Immune System herb - Specific for the Urinary Tract. Main Use: Fevers. Portmanteau Herb used Internally and Externally as the number one Astringent.

Actions: Flowers: Carminative and Stimulant. Herb: Anti - Haemorrhagic, Anti - Scorbutic, anti - Spasmodic, anti Septic, Astringent, Depurative, Diaphoretic, Diuretic, Emmenagogue, Expectorant, Febrifuge, Haemostatic, Hypotensive, Sudorific, Stimulant and Tonic - Best Plant for Diaphoretic properties.

Constituents: Achillein, Achilleic Acid, Albumen, Asparagin, Gum, Inulin, Mucilage, Phytosterin, Resin, Salts, Tannin and Volatile Oil.

Cultivation: Easy to grow has a penetrating scent when it is brushed against or crushed in the fingers - Use the whole herb above the ground including Leaves and Flowers. Grow from Seed in Spring or by division in Spring and Autumn. A delicate plant that tolerates a wide variety of soils but prefers Sandy Loam in a Sunny position. Collect the whole Plant when in Flower and as a Perennial it is available whenever required. The White Flower variety is the best medicinally but the Red one has similar properties and is a good activator for Composting. A tiny Herb Leaves only used. Tea: Pour one Cup of boiling water onto 1 - 2 teaspoons of the dried herb and Infuse for 10 - 15 minutes and drink hot 3 times a day. Infusion: 1 - 2 teaspoons per cup. Tincture: 2 - 4ml 3 times a day.

Germ Juice: Combine equal parts of Powdered Ginger and Garlic, add a bunch of Peppermint Leaves and a pinch of Cayenne Pepper. Pour on boiling water, add juice of 1 Lemon freshly squeezed and sweeten with Honey. Between time replace the lost fluids with Elderberry Cordial and make a Salad that includes Nasturtium and Dandelion Leaves with plenty of fresh Garlic in the dressing. Later when better make a Tea from Boneset and Catnip / Catmint - with Echinacea or Cat's Claw.

Horses: It re - arranges Fluid and Blood loss Internally and Externally and is anti - Shock and acts like a herbal suture on Cuts and Gaping Wounds. It is Protective, Strengthening and Supportive not only for Physical Wounds. Also used as part of a mixture for very Depressed, Injured and Sick Horses, to strengthen the Spine and in the treatment of many Musculo - Skeletal, Hoof and Foot Conditions. Used for Centuries to staunch Wounds on the battlefield. A handful of the soft Leaves can be used to hold on a Wound with pressure to stop Bleeding if no Extract is available. A good handful of fresh or dried herb can be added to the feed daily for an average sized (450kg) Horse.

Blood Purifier: Used in Blood purifying compounds. Blood Vessels: Tones.

Chest Colds: Cramps: on Children due to Teething & Bed Wetting give one small cup morning and night.

Digestion: Stimulates.

Fever: to relieve without suppressing it allowing a raised Temperature that encourages excretion of Toxins without it becoming too severe.

Hair: Tonic. Hives: with 28ml of this herb, 56ml Dandelion, 7ml Golden Seal and 28ml Stinging Nettles and cover and simmer for 20 minutes in 1 litre of water. Dosage: Take 1 Tablespoon every 4 hours.

YELLOW DOCK / Curled Dock / Bladder Dock / Rumex crispus - Polyconaceae Family. Wild Herb. Blood cleanser especially for Skin Conditions and to treat Acne and Psoriasis.

Actions: Root: Alterative, anti - Viral, Astringent, Cholagogue, Laxative, Sedative and Tonic. Leaves: Anti- Scorbutic, Depurative and Tonic.

Constituents: Root: Chrysophanic Acid, Emodin, Gum, Lapathin, Mucilage, Oxalic Acid, Rumicin, Starch and Tannin. Leaves: Oxofolate of Potash.

Cultivation: A widely spread weed found on waste ground and cultivated areas where there is poor drainage and has narrow Leaves that curl on the long edges and the Root has a deep yellow colour when scraped. Dig up the Roots in late Summer and early Autumn and clean well and split lengthways before drying.

Decoction: 1 to 2 Teaspoons of the dried herb / Root per cup and bring to the Boil and simmer gently for 10 - 15 minutes. Drink 3 times a day. Tincture: 1 to 4ml x 3 times a day.

Used to Treat: Colon: as it acts on the Colon with a mild Laxative effect. Constipation: as it stimulates the Gut Muscles and has a mild Cathartic action on the Bowel and use with Dandelion Root.

Detoxification: as it works on the Kidneys and Spleen.

Glandular Enlargements: as it enlivens the Liver.

Jaundice: as it creates a flow of Bile as a Mild Stimulant.

Liver: as a Mild Stimulant. Lymphatic System: as it enlivens the Liver.

Poor Circulation: as it enlivens the Liver.

Skin Conditions: Specific as it works on the Kidneys and Spleen and combine with Burdock and Poke Root.

Skin - Oily:  combine 3 Tablespoons of Yoghurt with 1 Tablespoon of Brewer's Yeast and 2 teaspoons of Lemon Juice to make a liquid Facial formulas to brush onto the Skin and allow to dry for 15 minutes and rinse off.
