1014 - 1020 AD
1014 AD *105.Brian Boru - of the Tributes the previous Heberian Dalcassian Ui Bloid Ui Turlogh 175th High King of Ireland the direct ancestor of the Ui mBriain Sept had reclaimed all of Mogha's Half / Southern Ireland for the Heberian Septs, before he had been slain at the Battle of Clontarf this year along with his son. 106.Murtogh and his grandson 107.Turlogh.
*105.Brian Boru would leave behind 2 of his younger sons who were half - brothers who would soon be in conflict over who now had the right to the Heberian Dal gCais Kingship, and the youngest of these was *106.Donogh / Donnchad, whose mother was 110.Gormlaith, the sister to the recently deceased 110.Mael Morda the previous Heremonian Cu Corb Ui Faelain 57th King of Leinster who had joined in with the Vikings to oppose *105.Brian Boru and was among those who were killed in the conflict. *106.Donogh would eventually become the 42nd King of Cashel / Munster in his own right through devious means, and then eventually assume the 176th Kingship of Ireland - with opposition after the death of *107.Malachy 11 who had been the previous 174th King of Ireland who assumed the title once again after the death of *105.Brian Boru and who later was to die in 1022 AD, and in turn *106.Donogh's son, 107.Murrogh / Murchad O Brian would become the 42a King of Cashel / Munster, who would be the father of 108.Brian O Brian the future 46a King of Cashel / Munster who would die in 1118 AD, bringing to an end 106.Donogh's particular Ui mBriain direct male line from *105.Brian Boru altogether to the Ui mBriain Kingships.
*105.Bran Boru's other older surviving son, 106.Teague / Tadhg, whose mother was Eachraidh, would be slain in 1023 AD, with *106.Donogh his younger half - brother, personally involved in this kin slaying / fingal, but despite this the older half - brother 106.Teague's particular direct O Brian / Ui mBriain male line would be the one that would persist, as he was to be the father of another, *107.Turlogh O Brian who would die in 1086 AD after becoming the future Heberian Dal g Cais 43rd King of Cashel / Munster and then the 178th Heberian Dal gCais Ui mBriain King of Ireland. This particular*107.Turlogh O Brian in turn would then become the father of 3 sons. *108.Murtogh / Muirchertach O Brian who would die in 1119 AD as the future 44th King of Cashel / Munster and the Heberian Dal gCais Ui mBriain 180th King of Ireland, and 108.Teague / Tadhg O Brian the future 44a King of Cashel / Munster who would die in 1086 AD the father of 109.Donnell / Domhnall O Brian the future 44b King of Cashel / Munster who would die in 1115 AD. *107.Turlogh O Brian's other son, 108.Diarmait O Brian, who would die in 1118 AD, was to become the future 45th King of Cashel / Munster and the father of 109.Teague Glae O Brian who would die in 1154 AD as the 46b King of Cashel / Munster, and still of another 109.Turlogh O Brian the future 46th King of Cashel / Munster who would die in 1167 AD. He in turn would then become the father of another 110.Murtogh O Brian who would also be a King of Northern Munster / Thomond, and 110.Donnell Mor O Brian who would become the 47th King of Cashel / Munster, on whose death in the future it would all really begin to unhravel and come to an end in 1194 AD after the Anglo - Norman English Invasion, due in part to 110.Donnell Mor O Brian's own personal ambitions, agenda and lack of overall foresight of what would be really happening in Ireland by then.
With the recent death of
110.Mael Morda
the
Heremonian
Cu Corb Ui Dunlainge Ui Faelain
45th King of Leinster
also occurring, during the
Battle of Clontarf in
Mogha's Half in nearby
Southern Leinster,
111.Dunlaing
became the new
Heremonian Cu Corb
Ui Dunlainge Ui Muireadhaigh
45a King of Leinster
who was to also die this year, who would leave behind
4 sons who would all be future
Kings of Leinster,
including
112.Duncan / Donncuan
who
became the Cu Corb
Ui Dunlainge Ui Muireadhaigh 46th King
of Leinster
who would die only 2 years later on in 1016 AD.
The Kingship
of Leinster
Directly after the
Battle of Clontarf in 1014 AD,
106.Teague
/ Tadhg,
the
previously mentioned half - brother who was the oldest surviving son of *105.Brian
Boru and Eachraidh, assumed control over the
remaining Heberian
Dal gCais forces,
who had withstood the major brunt of the conflict, with 1,000
of his Heberian Dalcassian
aristocratic warriors severely handicapped with
all of their various
injuries and weariness left over from the conflict, while their Heberian
Eoghanachta
allies
from Southern Munster,
still had
3,000 of their aristocratic warriors left.
The leaders of the Eoghanachta were more then well aware that they
had previously held overall control over the
Munster
Kingship for a very long time prior to being displaced by the
Dalcassians under
105.Mahon and his
younger brother,
*105.Brian
Boru - of the Tributes, and when they found out that not only
*105.Brian Boru, but
also his son,
106.Murrogh
/ Murchad,
and grandson,107.Turlogh
had been
slain in the conflict, they
decided that this would now be their best opportunity to gain back the
Munster
Kingship from the
Dal gCais
Sept.
106.Teague's
younger half - brother,
106.Donogh,
the son
of
*105.Brian
Boru and
110.Gormlaith, had gathered together all
of the more injured
Dalcassians,
and
had
one third of those who were still able to fight
to protect those who were severely injured, and he then stood
with the other two thirds ready to take the
Eoghanachta
Septs head on if need be. The
Dalcassian
warriors who were wounded also forced
moss into their wounds and then stood with the
rest of their
Dal gCais Sept ready to
oppose the Eoghanachta,
who on seeing their great courage and
determination
to stand and fight to the death then decided against forcing the issue any further at this time.
The
1000 Dalcassian
warriors who were now under the overall leadership of
106.Teague
/ Tadhg and his younger half -
brother,
106.Donogh then set out from Dublin
in Co. Dublin in Southern
Leinster to return to their own territory in
Northern Munster / Thomond, and towards this goal they headed south - west
further into Southern Leinster until they eventually reached
Athy on the
River Barrow where they were confronted by
110.Donogh mac
Giolla Patrick / Donnchad Mac Giolla
Padraig (Fitz
Patrick) who was now the
Heremonian
Ui Laoghaire Ui Connla King
of
Ossory
in Co. Kilkenny
and he too was waiting to also take his once in a
lifetime opportunity to attack the Dal gCais as he was
still seeking revenge against them.
*105.Brian
Boru
had previously taken his father 109.Gilla Patraic hostage for a year to bring
their particular individual kingdom of Ossory
in
Mogha's Half into submissionn to assert his overall authority,
and
110.Donogh mac Gilla Patraic
wanted to avenge this previous indignity,
and if possible demand hostages from the battle weary
Dalcassians.
To his surprise
also, all of the 1,000
Dal gCais
warriors immediately began
to tie their wounded men to stakes to keep them
standing upright, as this way they could
not only defend themselves, but also their severely injured warriors, while standing a brother or a son on
either side of those who were wounded, so that they could also engage in the coming fight, if it
was necessary. This once again
displayed their great courage an commitment, and
110,Donogh mac Gilla Patrick realizing that the
Dalcassians were
more then
ready to fight to the death, and that they would take as many of the men of Ossory
with them
as necessary, he decided instead to attack them from behind as the Dal gCais continued on homeward
bound, and due to this tactic another 150 of the Dal
gCais were to be lost along the way, with only
850 out of the original
1,000
Dalcassians left after the
Battle of
Clontarf eventually
making it back alive to Thomond /
Northern Munster.
With their main leaders gone now, in *105.Brian Boru, 106.Murrogh and his son 107.Turlogh O Brian the Dal gCais Sept no longer had the overall authority required to maintain their previous position in Ireland, so *107.Malachy 11 / Mael Sechnaill the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Clann Cholmain 40th King of Meath was able to take back control once again as the 174th High Kingship of Ireland until his own demise in the future in 1022 AD.
106.Teague / Tadhg and 106.Donogh, the two half - brothers who were the surviving sons of *105.Brian Boru, were left to themselves to sought out who would be the future Heberian Dalcassian King of Northern Munster / Thomond, and who would ultimately also try to regain the Heberian Kingship of Cashel / Munster, if they could, from the Heberian Eoghanachta in Southern Munster, with the Heberian Dal gCais Septs naturally ready to support the older brother, 106.Teague / Tadhg to be the King of Thomond over his younger half - brother, 106.Donogh, while the Heberian Eoghanacht Septs in Southern Munster were to be also still in dispute with them, over the overall Kingship of Cashell / Munster. Finally the increasing pressure from the Eoghanachta Septs at first forced the two Heberian Dal gCais half - brothers to combine their efforts, and together they were able to defeat and submit the Eoghanachta Septs with their Dalcassian warriors under the leadership of another of their kinsman, Donnell O Brian in a battle fought out at Limerick in Co. Limerick, which was also in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province.
111.Teague / Tadhg in Eich Gil O Connor the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Siol Muireadhaigh Ui Conchobair 47th King of Connacht descended originally from 90.Brion the first Dal Cuinn King of Connacht who is the direct male line ancestor of all of the Ui Briuin Septs in Connacht, and who was the oldest son of *89.Eochy / Echu Mugmedon the previous 124th King of Ireland, also had his mind set on their Sept's long lost right to the Kingship of Ireland, and he too decided that now was also a good time to besiege the weakened Dal gCais / Dalcassian Septs, and to this end he destroyed the O Brians / Ui mBriain fortress at Kincora in the north - east of Co. Clare in Thomond / Northern Munster. Once again this too backfired as 106.Teague and 106.Donogh with their combined Dalcassian warriors were able to drive them completely out of Co. Clare and force them back to the north into the Connacht Province as far as Loch Ree, but despite this combined success unfortunately the 2 Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlogh Ui mBriain half - brothers then returned to Co. Clare where they were now to continue to dispute with each other until 1028 AD, as to who should be the overall King of Cashel / Munster.
104.Meanma, a Heberian Dal gCais Ui Caisin son of 103.Aodh the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Caisin King, descended from 92.Caisin the second oldest son of 91.Cas the direct male line ancestor of all of the Dal gCais Septs died this year, who was to be the father of 105.Donnell / Domhnall the grandfather of 107.Cu Mara (Warrior / Hound of the Sea) the direct male line ancestor of all of the Mac Namaras in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province.
Realising what a great hole had
been left by the
recent death of
*105.Brian
Boru the
Tuaths (Family regions) of
Ireland decided to hold a meeting where they resolved to place a
Chief poet
and a devout man in
charge of Ireland,
and run it as
a Free
State and all of the
Irish history up to
this date was
written down.
The Teutonic Scandinavian Vikings in the meantime had been able to physically establish 12 permanent settlements / townships on the coastal belt of Ireland, including the main port of Dublin in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster, which they would continue to hold onto for another 150 years until the coming of the Teutonic Scandinavian Anglo - Norman English Invasion beginning in 1167 AD.
1015 AD *107.Malachy 11 who was once again the
Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern"
Ui Niaill
Clann Cholmain 174th King of Ireland besieged
the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire
Ui Connla kingdom of
Ossory in the south - west of
Southern Leinster to also further stabilize his overall authority
throughout Ireland once again and
110.Dunghal, another of the sons of
109.Gilla
Patraic was
slain during this conflict.
