1316 AD May: Edward Bruce, Robert - the Bruce's brother, crowned himself the King of Ireland on a hill at Knocknemelan at Faughart near Dundalk in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster, and besieged the palace of the Catholic Archbishop of Swords in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster and destroyed it and  then held an Irish Parliament on the Rock of Cashel in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province and the Irish Chiefs were able to take back some of their previous English confiscated territories.

1316 AD August 10th: Art O Hara the Heberian Cianacht King who had his territory in the ancient kingdom of Leyney / Luigne in Co. Mayo in the north - west of the Connacht Province was killed in the Battle of Athenry and many of the O Haras, but their kinsmen the Heberian Cianacht O Garas were to hold onto this kingdom until they were to be finally also driven out by the Anglo - Norman English under the Costelloes who were to also Gaelicize their name as Mac Goisdealbh and the O Garas would eventually have to settle as Cianacht Chiefs in Cuil O Flynn, in Coolavin in Co. Sligo in the north - west of Connacht in 1436 AD.

Aed O Donnell and his Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill warriors marched south to Carbury into the Connacht Province again, reaching Castlecomer, and Rory O Connor, the son of Donnell O Connor, handed over hostages to him and also gave him control over Carbury and Dervorgilla / Dearbhorgaill had the galloglasses kill Rory O Connor, the son of Donnell O Connor on the moor at Tochar along with many others and Carbury was also plundered while 121.Felim O Connor the 72nd King of Connacht gained many hostages and set out now to also banish the English Galls from out of the west of Connacht killing many and also came up against an the army from Leath Moga / Mogha's Half at Meelick and destroyed the castle there. 115.Murtogh O Brian and the descendants of Brian Ruadh O Connor also submitted to him, and he chose Donough O Brian 111 the King of Thomond to support him. Hearing William de Burgh / Burke the Anglo - Norman Baron had returned from Scotland he took his army to expel him, and was now backed up by Donogh O Brian 111 the King of Thomond / Northern Munster, as 115.Murtogh O Brian was now still dispossessed of his previous position. Along with O Melaghlin / Ua Maelsechlainn the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Clann Cholmain King of Meath, Uallgarg O Rourke the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne King of West Breifne, O Farrell the Gaelic Milesian Irian King of Conmaicne, Teague 1st O Kelly the Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch Ui Maine King and many more, all proceeded to Athenry in Co. Galway to take on William de Burgh, Mac Feorais / de Bermingham and the other English Galls in Connacht who they were then able to defeat, 121.Felim O Connor the 72nd King of Connacht and heir apparent / Tanaiste to the Kingship of Ireland was still only 23 years of age when he was to be killed along with a great many others. including Teague O Kelly the Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch Ui Maine King. and had reigned for 5 years until 122.Rory O Connor had taken the position from him as the 73rd King of Connacht for 6 months, and he had then ruled for another 6 months after that. 121.Rory na Fed O Connor, the son of 120.Donogh O Connor, the son of 119.Eogan O Connor, the son of 118.Rory O Connor, became the new 74th King of Connacht. Mac William de Burgh / Burke the Anglo - Norman Baron and the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Siol Muireadhach / Sil Murray O Connors made peace with 121.Rory na Fed O Connor except for the Mac Dermots of Moylurg and he besieged Moylurg raiding Ath an Chip and Uachtar Tire burning and destroying. 121.Rory na Fed O Connor, the son of 120.Donogh was to be deposed by Diarmait Gall Mac Dermot, and 121.Rory na Fed O Connor was to be killed by 121.Cathal O Connor, the son of 120.Aed O Connor, the son of 119.Eogan O Connor.

Phelim O Connor along with Mac Feorais / de Bermingham the Anglo - Norman Baron, and the English Galls / foreigners from the west of the Connacht Province, had put together a large force and travelled to the causeway at Moin Coinneadha where 121.Rory na Fed O Conor the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai 74th King of Connacht had came up against them and his forces were defeated and he was killed and also slain was his kinsman, Diarmait Gall Mac Dermot the Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai King of Moylurg / Magh Luirg who also had his territory in Connacht, and Cormac Mac Ceitherrnaigh the Heberian Eoghanacht Cianacht Ciarraige King, along with many of the Highland Scottish galloglasses / mercenaries. Due to the demise of 121.Rory na Fed O Connor, Phelim O Connor had achieved his own personal objective, as he then became the new Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai 75th King of Connacht. Along with the Gaelic Princes from the kingdoms of the Heberian Dal gCais Ui mBriain of Thomond / Northern Munster, the O Melaghlins from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Clann Cholmain of Meath in Northern Leinster, the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Breifne, and the Gaelic Milesian Irian Conmaicne Septs in Connacht, they took on William de Burgh / Burke and Richard de Bermingham / Mac Feorais, the 2 English Norman Barons, at Athenry in Co. Galway. Phelim O Connor the 75th King of Connacht and many of the other Gaelic Irish Princes were to be killed in the conflict and Richard de Bermingham the English Earl of Athenry was to knight John Hussey for his gallantry in the victory over the Gaelic Irish Septs on this occasion. Once again the English had used the Gaelic Irish Septs themselves to reduce their numbers and gain further overall advantage in Ireland.

December - Winter: Robert "The Bruce" also came across from Scotland to assist his brother, Edward Bruce, in Ireland with another Scottish army of Norse Gaelic galloglasses from the Hebrides, and they then controlled the territory to the west of the River Shannon and the River Bann, and to the north of the Ulster Province border and they combined their Scottish - Irish forces and marched south, burning as they went, and kept moving on, and eventually laid siege to Dublin in the English Pale in the north - east of Southern Leinster, but a massive English Military force then landed in Ireland, and the Bruces and their Irish allies were then defeated and driven back to the north. The Gaelic Irish Chiefs were now divided over the ongoing conflict, as once again the Heberian Dal gCais Ui mBriain O Brians of Thomond / Northern Munster were totally hostile to any chance of the Bruces usurping their Gaelic right to eventually regain overall control for themselves in Ireland.

Edward 11 the Norman English King, took the Limerick Castle, that had been previously constructed there by his ancestor John the third Plantagenet Anglo - Norman English King, on the River Shannon in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of the Munster Province and held a court there for a few months. An Augustine friary was also founded there at Adare in Co. Limerick while Irishtown, which was south of the River Abbey, was eventually to be enclosed by walls, as was Englishtown situated on the island itself. Edward 11 appointed Roger Mortimer, the English Earl of March in England, as the new English Viceroy in Ireland, and John Fitz Thomas Fitz Gerald, who had his manor at Sligo in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province, was appointed the first English Earl of Kildare in Co. Kildare in Southern Central Leinster as the Geraldines had also assisted in the conquest of Connacht.

1317 AD Roger Mortimer the newly appointed English Justiciar in Ireland arrived with an English Military force of 15,000 men at Youghal in Co. Cork in Southern Munster, which was under the control of the Fitz Geralds, where he immediately created 2 new English knights in preparation to carry out an attack on the Bruce's Scottish - Irish forces in Ireland and Roger Mortimer, then together with the Norman English nobles held another Council in Kilkenny City in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster were they made plans to oppose Edward Bruce and his combined Scottish - Irish forces. They assembled a total force of 30,000 men along with 6 new English knights who were also created in Co. Limerick in the mid - north - west of Munster with John de Bermingham and John Mortimer, and also a few more English knights were to be invested while he was in Dublin. (The English Estates in Co. Kilkenny / Ossory was to be eventually partitioned among 3 of Gilbert de Clare's absentee sisters). During the ensuing conflict Edward Bruce was able to capture Gowran, which had been an early seat of the Fitz Patrick / Giolla Padraig Kings of Ossory in the south - west of Southern Leinster.

At this time, 115.Donogh O Brian was still the Heberian Dal gCais Ui mBriain King of Thomond / Northern Munster and Maelsechlainn Carrach Mac Dermot was the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai King of Moylurg / Mag Luirc who had his territory in Co. Roscommon in the east of the Connacht Province.

The Gaelic Irish Chiefs under the leadership of 117.Donnell O Niall the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill King of Tir Eogain / Tyrone / Co. Donegal in the north of the Ulster Province complained to Pope John XXII at Avignon in France about the endless English cruelties, and their injustices in Ireland, and the wrongs to the Celtic Irish Catholic Church, and he especially complained against the violation of the previous English Pope Adrian’s right to have originally granted Henry 11 the See of Ireland. The Pope only intervened in regards to the exclusion of the priests attending to either the Norman English or the Gaelic Irish, but nothing else changed, except the Pope's profile in Ireland had increased.

The Anglo - Irish / Old English were now known by the English authorities in Ireland as the "Middle Nation."

The Bruce brothers decided to carry out a circuit in Ireland, as was the custom on becoming the overall King of Ireland, but Richard de Burgh the Anglo - Norman Earl of Ulster set an ambush for them there and attacked them from the rear with his archers, while in Dublin the Vikings and the English Galls there burnt the buildings outside the walls to deprive them of any cover should they try and besiege them, but they only passed on by and went into the Munster Province instead and then returned to the Ulster Province, and as an attack was also made on Scotland at this time by the English Military forces of Edward 11 the English Norman King, Robert "The Bruce" had to return there, leaving his brother, Edward Bruce to keep up the fight in the north of Ireland. Edward 11 the Norman King of England also sent a force of Genoese cross - bowmen over to Ireland to support his extensive English Military forces and also went about trying to increase his own influence among the Anglo - Irish.

121.Turlogh O Connor, the son of 120.Aed O Connor, the son of 119.Eogan O Connor, became the new Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Sil Murray 76th King of Connacht.

Mailer de Exeter the Norman English Baron who was now the English Earl of Ballyrahan was killed by Cathal O Connor, the son of Donnell O Connor, at Methen in Drumcliffe in the Connacht Province along with 14 other English Galls, and the Gall's Ballymote Castle was destroyed.

Cathal O Connor then attacked the Connacht Province where he besieged Mac Dermot and was also able to seize the Kingship of Connacht  and assumed the 77th Kingship of Connacht, after deposing 121.Turlogh O Connor the previous 76rd King of Connacht, and placed himself under the protection of William de Burgh / Burke the Anglo - Norman Baron and the English Galls in Connacht.

118.Seoan O Niall, the son of 117.Donnell O Niall, from the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain was killed by Aed O Donnell from the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niall Cenell Conaill in their territory at Derry in Co.  May 13th: The Heberian Dal gCais Cenel Cuallachta O Dea / Ui Deadhaigh Chieftain who had his territory in Co. Clare in the north - west of the Munster Province was finally able to defeat the Norman English Barons there in the Battle of Deaga and kill their leader, the ongoing "switching" troublemaker, Thomas de Clare, together with his son, Robert de Clare, in what turned out to be a furious battle near the Dysert O Dea Abbey where Thomas de Clare's body was hacked to pieces and his widow in a panic burnt down their stronghold in Bunratty Castle and fled back to England with as many valuables as she could carry, and this single act of defiance by one of the Heberian Dal gCais Septs was to break the English dominance in Co. Clare in the future for nearly 200 years. Thomas de Clare's Dal gCais followers at this time who were the descendants of one of the sons of Brian Ruadh - of Red Complexion O Brian who he had previously cruelly tore apart with horses, fled across the River Shannon to Ara in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province, where their descendants have remained, who are known as the O Briens of Ara. Brian Bawn / Bane O Brian the Prince / Tanaiste of Thomond and his kinsman, Mahon O Brian of Inchiquin, were to retire to their territory in the east of Co. Clare, while 115.Murtogh O Brian was to reign in Co. Clare as the King of Thomond / Northern Munster. The ongoing misery that had been emanating from Thomas de Clare the Anglo - Norman Baron due to his continual "switching" policies had lasted  for 31 years since 1277 AD.

October: The English Galls had previously built walled defences around Castledermot in Co. Kildare in Central Southern Leinster against the Gaelic Irish and the Scottish - Irish forces of Edward Bruce who by now only had the support of a few followers in the Ulster Province, and his Scottish supply lines were also undependable. but he was now also assisted by the Anglo - Irish de Laceys, who had been previously displaced as the English Earls of Ulster, and he rode southwards out of Ulster with a 2,000 strong Scottish - Irish force again to attack the English Galls. Along the way they came up against Richard de Clare who was now the new English Lord Lieutenant in Ireland for Edward 11 the Norman English King, and Edward Bruce's knights tried to advise him to await further reinforcements, while the Gaelic Irish would not join in to such a head on one sided battle, but suggested that they could carry out guerrilla warfare until further assistance arrived to support him. Desperate for immediate victory he decided instead to charge headlong into battle with his own knights at Dundalk in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster, who were then defeated and he was killed and his head was cut off and salted and sent over to England to Edward 11. (His headless body was buried there at Faughart in the King's Grave in the old churchyard under a large stone on the slope of the hill.) Mac Rory the King of the Hebrides and Mac Donnell the King of Argyle and many of their Scottish supporters were also killed after going through 3 1/2 years of hell. As Robert 1st "The Bruce" had already gone back to Scotland prior to this, and the rest of the Highland Scots who were previously under Edward Bruce's command now decided to do the same, except in Co. Down in the south - east of the Ulster Province where they ravaged the region forcing the Anglo - Irish there to combine with them in their own interests. 117.Donnell O Niall the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain King of Tir Eogain / Tyrone and his Gaelic Irish forces were now driven back to his territory in Tyrone in Central Ulster. When Pope John XX111 condemned all of the supporters of the Bruces, 117.Donnell O Niall replied, " That he could cede his kingdom to whoever he wanted to," and condemned the Norman English Galls for not dealing justly with the Gaelic Irish. 117.Donnell O Niall's  territory in Tyrone was still very wild terrain and it was to be the least effected by the ongoing oppressive Norman English rule and from now on new English Earldoms were to be created in Ireland to increase their overall hold over Ireland, and to further try and stabilise the lot of the English Galls, who had taken over further territory in Ireland, after the Bruce campaign.

Richard Le Drede who was a Norman English Franciscan became the Catholic Bishop of Ossory / Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster until 1360 AD.

1319 AD 117.Donnell O Niall the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niall Cenel nEogain King of Tyrone was expelled by the English Galls who were assisted by Aodh Buidhe - of Yellow Hair O Niall the Cenel nEogain Prince / Tanaiste of Tyrone who would become the direct male liner ancestor of the Clann na Buidhe / Clannaboye, and also the Fir Manach who carried out the raids against him with their forces who crossed over the River Bann and took over the territory in northern Ulaidh and divide it into North Clannaboy and South Clannaboy, but they were to get it back later on. His son, 118.Brian O Niall was also to be killed by their kinsmen from the Clannaboy Sept. Later on part of North Clannaboy would become Brian Carragh's Country after it was to be taken over then by Brian Carragh Mac Donnell, a Chief of the Mac Donnells, and south Clannaboy Barons of Ards , Castlereagh, Kinelearty and Lecale from the Bay of Dundrove to the Bay of Carrickfergus on the Belfast Loch.

The Church of St. Nicholas Collegiate was founded in Lombard Street in the town of Galway in Co. Galway in Southern Connacht where Christopher Columbus would hear Mass there on the way to America, and it too later on was to be taken over by the Ascendancy Church of Ireland / England during the confiscation of the Catholic Church Institutions and lands by Henry V111, and is still used by them.
