                                                                                                                                                         1731 - 1740 AD

 

1731 AD Patrick O Shee from the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire Muscraige Sept became the Catholic Bishop of Ossory in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster until 1736 AD.  

    The Dublin Society was formed by the Land Lords and the Ascendancy Church of England / Ireland clergy to improve agriculture, manufacturing and arts in Ireland who later on were to add Royal to their name and the Royal Irish Society purchased Leinster House from the third English Duke of Leinster.

1731 - 1774 AD During this period of time a small bog at Cullen yielded up a vast treasure made up of numerous gold objects.

1732 AD The library at Trinity College in Dublin was opened, which was designed by James Gandon, the architect, who was brought to Ireland by Lord Charlemont on behalf of the Anglo - Irish Ascendancy and he also designed the Four Courts and the Custom House in Dublin.

 1733 AD Lord Dorset the English Whig Lord Lieutenant in Ireland, inserted Sir Ralph Gore, as the new Speaker in the Anglo - Irish House of Commons to continue to enforce the English Government's overall control, but he was to die, and during his short rule he was not to be as strong as the previous Speaker, William Connolly had been, and this then allowed those in opposition to the English Conservative Whig Government's control in Ireland to increase in strength.  

     The percentage of those of English and Scottish foreign planter origins and migration origins in the population of Ireland was now at 27%.  

    The Landlord, de Vesci / Vesey who was of French and English origins built Wyatt Mansion this year at Abbey Leix in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster.

1734 - 1749 AD Teague O Naghten / Tadhg Ua Neachtain the Irish poet worked on an Irish dictionary, so that future generations would still have access to the Irish Gaelic language and their Irish history, and gain renewed knowledge of what had been taken away and Charles O Connor had Hugh O Mulloy copy the "Annals of Ulster / of the 4 Masters" so it would not be lost because of the previous destruction of all Irish literature by those still in authority in England and their "Placemen" counterparts in Ireland.

   Bishop Berkeley the philosopher was appointed to be the Ascendancy Church of England / Ireland Bishop in Cloyne in Co. Cork in Southern Munster until 1753 AD.

1735 AD The Stowe Missal, an ancient Irish book written on vellum, which was originally at the Terryglass Abbey and had then been moved to Lorrha monastery 4 mile out of Lackeen, was this year found in the stone wall of the Lackeen Castle in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province, where it was enclosed in a metal shrine previously refurbished by Philip O Kennedy the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlogh King of Ormonde / North Eastern Munster and his wife Aine. 

      The Anglo - Irish Ascendancy Parliament in their own personal interests now passed legislation removing the Ascendancy Church of England / Ireland Tithe payments from their pasture land, leaving it to those who were involved in day to day agricultural pursuits to pay instead, which basically meant the "tenants" of the Land Lords, which then bought about a further decline in the use of agricultural land as the Land Lords began removing the tenants from off of their Estates.   

    Edward Tenison the Ascendancy Church of England / Ireland Bishop in Ossory in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster, died this year.

    The ancient Irish village of Ballyvaston was found buried beneath the sand after it had recently been uncovered by a violent storm.

    Lismore Castle in Co. Cork in Southern Munster, previously confiscated from the Fitz Geralds, and granted to Sir Walter Raleigh who then fell on hard times and had sold it on to Henry Boyle the first English Earl of Cork, was now acquired by the English Duke of Devonshire who had married Boyle's daughter.

     Charles O Hart was still in control of Cloonamahon Beg and Cloonamahon Mor in Tirerril in the Connacht Province while paying 10 shillings per annum now to German George Ludwig 11 the King of England. Cloonamahon had been the territory of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin Ai Mac Donaghs up until the end of the 16th Century AD. Charles O Hart and his brother, John O Hart the Catholic Bishop of Achrony in Co. Sligo, who lived at Cloonamahon, were deprived of their land under the Irish Catholic Penal Laws because they refused to take the Oath of Supremacy to German George 11, so in order to hold on to their property they had to get a non - Catholic to act as a Trustee of the Estate for them to try and evade the edicts of the Irish Catholic Penal Laws. Laurence Betteridge of Cartron, who was a non - Catholic, had agreed to act  for them, but instead he claimed the property for himself intending to pass it on to his son who he soon fell out with also, so instead he sold it to Thomas Rutledge who borrowed the money to buy it from Joshua Cooper of Marknea Castle who held a lien over the property of 4 shillings and sixpence an acre. Thomas Rutledge had 3 daughters who were married to Meredith, Phibbs and Ormsby, and Cloonamahon was then divided into 3 portions, including Lisaneena who went to Meredith, Ballina Bull which went to Phibbs, and Knockmullen that went to Ormsby who sold it off. Edmund Burke the Anglo - Irish Statesman was to make an Address and Petition to George 111 against this continuing immoral practice as prior to this during the reign of Queen Anne a Bill had been passed in the parliament stating that this was an honourable thing to do to Catholics.

1736 AD Colman O Shaughnessy from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Fiachrach Sept was to become the Catholic Bishop of Ossory in Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster until 1748 AD.

     Further repressive Religious Acts were passed this year by the Ascendancy Anglo - Irish Parliament to ensure all non - Conformist religions including the Irish Catholics, the Presbyterians, and other Dissenters, were to continue to pay the ongoing agricultural Tithes to the Church of England / Ireland.

    Cornelius Magrath was born at the Silvermines in Co. Tipperary in the north - east of the Munster Province who was to grow up to be 7'2 1/4" high when only 16 years of age, and die at 23 years of age due to a fall, and 4 students were to then snatch his body at the wake and take it to Trinity College in Dublin where John Hunter paid them 500 pounds for it for his museum.

1737 AD Lord Dorset's term as the English Vice - Royal in Ireland was to expire, and the reverse was now happening in the Parliament in Ireland as the Anglo - Irish Ascendancy House of Commons by now were the ones telling the English Lord Lieutenant what was really needed in Ireland, against what had previously been the case for a long time and Chesterfield was then to be appointed the English Ascendancy Whig Government's new Lord Lieutenant in Ireland and was to take Henry Boyle the Speaker of the Anglo - Irish Ascendancy House of Commons head on, who regardless was still growing more powerful each year together with the Anglo - Irish Ascendancy themselves. As the English Whig Government's new main representative in Ireland he was only to remain in that position for 18 months during which time he was to actually only spend less then 8 months in Ireland.

1738 AD Turlogh O Carolan, who had been born in 1670, who was the well known blind Irish harpist, who had written 200 Irish tunes, died, at Bally Farnon at 68 years of age and was interred in the churchyard at Kilronan / Cill Ronan / Ronan's Church by the shore of Loch Meelagh / Malagh in Co. Roscommon near the Co. Sligo border in the east of the Connacht Province. He had been reared by Mrs. Mac Dermott Roe and when he had been previously blinded at 18 years of age by smallpox she had then paid for his apprenticeship to become a harper and provided him with a horse and money and he had then wandered throughout Ireland for 50 years producing and playing his music for all to hear. He had also visited the Dal Cuinn Colla Da Crioch O Harts at Cloonamahon in Co. Sligo in Connacht where he had composed 2 songs in their honour.

1739 AD  As a further sign of worse things to come agriculturally, the Potato crops in Ireland failed totally this year.  

1740 AD The Irish Catholic Penal Laws of 1695 AD were now also reinforced, once again in Ireland, by another English Conservative Whig Government Ascendancy Act, which, "Restricted further Irish Catholic rights."  

    The Potato crops once again failed  this year, creating further widespread Famine and disease, with whole villages depopulated and many hundreds of thousands of Irish people died because of this, and migration from Ireland was once again on the increase. 

    Phoenix Park in Dublin in Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster, which was composed of 2,000 acres, which was previously the land of the Knight Templars taken from them by Henry VIII, during the confiscations of the Catholic Church Institutions, was now proclaimed a park.  

    Jonathon Swift the Church of England / Ireland, Dean, English protagonist, and author, who was in charge of St. Patrick's Church in Dublin, was now showing advanced signs of being mentally unstable.

    By this period in time 1,250,000 Pounds was being transferred annually from out of Ireland to the Absentee - Landlords who were living in luxury in England, which did doing nothing towards sustaining the economy in Ireland to provide employment  

   This year the Newry Canal was constructed at Portadown in Co. Armagh in the south - east of the Ulster Province, which made the town and its inhabitants very prosperous there.

     The English Conservative Whig Government's Undertakers and Placemen in the Anglo - Irish Parliament in Ireland were by now, once again, operating on their behalf, and were trying to create a split in the Anglo - Irish Ascendancy House of Commons by supporting John Ponsonby, a son of Lord Bessborough, against the all - powerful Henry Boyle, but over time his group were once again regaining greater control in Ireland.  

   Bernard O Gara from the Heberian Cianacht Sept in the Connacht Province who had been the Catholic Bishop of Tuam since 1716 AD died, and was succeeded in the position by his brother, Michael Oge - the Younger O Gara.
