- of the Red Tresses taking up her father's turn so
she raised a band of followers and attacked and defeated both of them in battle, and then
took up her term of ruling for 7 years.
*60.Dithorba
was killed in battle soon after, but he left behind 5 sons who also
claimed their turn at the
Irian
Kingships,
and *61.Macha
Mongruadh would not
agree as she had now won her place in battle as the overall
Monarch of Ireland. The young
Irian Princes
/ Tanaistes
raised a
compliment of warriors
of their own and went into battle against her, but they were defeated and also
lost all
of their followers in the conflict and *61.Macha
Mongruadh
banished them into the
Sreng's Fifth
/ Connacht Province
and then married
*60.Cimbaoth
and handed over her warriors to him.
*61.Macha Mongruadh
then decided to rid herself of the troublesome young
Irian
Princes
/ Tanaistes
altogether, and went to
Connacht
herself
and brought them back to
Ulster Province
were the
Ulstermen
decided that they should all be executed to ensure there was no more conflict
over the
Irian Kingships,
*61..Macha Mongruadh
would not go along with this decision and instead put them to work building a
rath, which would become the chief fort of
the
Irian
Ulstermen.
She was to mark the area of the foundations with her golden brooch from around her
neck,

later be changed into Latin and known as
Emania.
Ulster then
became a kingdom in its own right with
