Previous Celtic Septs who had their territory in the Aileach region in the north of the Ulster Province, were the Robogdii Sept who originally had territory in Co. Donegal in the west of the Ulster Province, along with the Vennicnii Sept who had their main fortress at Malin Head on the peninsula at Inishowen / Inis Eogain, and at Ram’s Head / Horn Head near Dunfanaghy.
91.Eogan (Owen) was one of the 12 sons of *90.Niall Mor - of the Nine Hostages the Celtic Scythian Gaelic Milesian Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn 126th King of Tara / Ireland the direct male line ancestor of the "southern" and "northern" Ui Niaill Septs / Family branches beginning in the late 3rd Century AD, who was descended from *83.Conn - of the Hundred Battles the 110th King of Ireland the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn (The People of *83.Conn) who had been one of the 3 sons of *82.Felim / Feidhlimidh - the Lawgiver who had been the 108th King of Ireland and the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Felim Septs. He in turn was descended from *60. Coffey / Cobhthaigh the 69th King of Erenn who was the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Cobhthaigh Septs and *37.Eremon the direct male line ancestor of all of the Heremonian Septs in Ireland. In the late 3rd Century AD 91.Eogan was to gain his own territory at Aileach in Co. Derry in the north - east of the Ulster Province, where Aileach had previously been an ancient Fir Bolg fort there of great importance. (Also Nuadha, the Scythian Nemedian Tuatha de Danann King who had defeated their own Scythian kinsmen the Scythian Nemedian Fir Bolg in battle, and then been in control of Ireland, had also been interred there before the Gaelic Milesians came into Ireland and also subjugated the Tuatha de Danann. Later on 91.Eogan's Sept the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain would also move down into Central Ulster where their territory there would become known as Co. Tyrone / Tir Eogain (The Land of *91.Eogan.)
91.Eogan became the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill 1st King of Aileach in the north of the Ulster Province during the 4th Century AD after he was accompanied by 2 of his brothers into the Ulster Province, Of these, 91.Conall Gulban also became the direct male line ancestor of the other main Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Sept in their territory of Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell (The Land of 91.Conall Gulban), now known as Co. Donegal / Dun Gall (The Fort of the Strangers) in the north - west of Ulster. The other brother 91.Enda / Endae became the direct male line ancestor of the the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Endae Sept who had their territory also there in the north - west of Ulster, situated between the territories of his two other brothers, and because of this his Septs eventually became absorbed into both of their Septs.
91.Eogan was to have 10 sons, (1) 92.Ailill / Oilill was to be the direct male line ancestor of the "northern" Ui Niaill O Feacheally / O Kelly (Muintir Cheallaigh) Sept in Co. Derry through Aodh / hAodha. (2) 92.Fergus / Fearghus was to be the direct male line ancestor of the O Connors / Ui Conchobhair Septs - of Magh Iotha in Co. Derry. (3) 92.Felim / Feidhlimidh was to be the direct male line ancestor of the O Dermonds / O Diorama / Mac Dermot / Darby / Ui Duibhdhiorma Sept in Co. Derry and Co. Donegal and of Criffan / Crimthainn the direct male line ancestor of the O Rorkan / Ui Dubhthaigh. (4) 92.Eochy / Eochaidh Binnigh / Binneach became the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel mBinnigh Septs, and the Cenel Binne in Scotland. 92.Murray / Muireadhach who became the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 2nd King of Aileach who was to die in 480 AD who was the father of 12 sons and many daughters of his own, including 2 of these from 98.Earca the daughter of 97.Loarn the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Conaire King of Dal Riada in Scotland. Of these, (1)*93.Murtogh / Muirchertach mac Earca was to be the direct male line ancestor of the "northern" Ui Niaill O Neills and the Mac Loughlin Kings of Ireland (2) 93.Fergus Mor mac Earca in the 20th year of the reign of *92.Lewy / Lughaidh the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill 128th King of Ireland was to take a great band of warriors along withy 5 of his other brothers, Fergus, 2 Loarns and another 2 known as Aongus into Alba / Scottish Highlands to assist his grandfather, 97.King Loarn there against the Picts who he defeated. 97.King Loarn died soon after and 93.Fergus Mor mac Earca was elected the new Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill King of Dal Riada due to his mother. (3) 93.Mongan - of the Long Hair was to become the direct male line ancestor of the O Donnellys / Ui Dunely / Ui Dhonnghaile Sept, the O Crodden / O Creedon / O Croydon / Ui Croidhen Sept, the O Mulcerby Sept, the O Crean Sept and the O Gormley Sept. This was to be after the demise of his kinsmen and second - cousin, *92.Lewy / Lughaidh the previous "southern" Ui Niaill 130th King of Tara / Ireland who had been a son of *91.Leary / Laoghaire the previous "southern" Ui Niaill 128th King of Tara / Ireland who had been a brother to 91.Eogan. He was another of the sons of *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages the 126th King of Tara / Ireland). *93.Murray mac Earca was married to Duinseach the daughter of 91.Duach Tenga / Teangumha Uma - of the Sweet Tongue the Heremonian Dal Cuinn Ui Briuin 3rd King of Connacht, the son of 90.Brion who had been the first Dal Cuinn King of Connacht and both were to become the direct male line ancestors of all of the 4 Ui Briuin Septs in Connacht.
*93.Murtogh mac Earca, after ruling for 24 years, was to eventually come to a sad end when he was to be burnt to death while he was hopelessly drunk, but he left behind 5 sons. (1) Donnell Illchealgach, (2) *Fergus who would become the 135th King of Ireland, (3) *Baetan / Baodan who would become the 137th King of Ireland, (4) Niall / Neilline and (5) Scanlan. The one who was to carry the aristocratic warrior male line forward to the "northern" Ui Niaill, O Neills and Mac Loughlins was;
(1) *94.Donnell / Domhnall Illchealgach - the Deceitful, who was his oldest son, who was to become the joint 4th King of Aileach and the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain joint 134th King of Tara / Ireland for 3 years from 563 AD - 566 AD / 561 AD, along with his brother, *94.Fergus / Fearghus and they created conflict with Leinster in the Battle of Gabhra Liffe were 400 of their aristocratic warriors and there followers there were slain. Both of the 2 brothers were to then die of the Plague on the same day, with 94.Fergus leaving no aristocratic warrior issue to continue his particular male line to the Kingships. (3) *94.Baetan / Bagdan / Baodan another of the brothers, was then to become the joint 5th King of Aileach and eventually the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain joint 136th King of Tara / Ireland along with his nephew, *95.Eochy / Eochaidh, who was a son of his previously deceased brother, *94.Donnell Ilchelgach. *95.Eochy / Echu was to be slain by Cronan who was then the King of Connacht in 572 AD / 563 AD. *94.Baetan was to become the father of 95.Lochan Dilmhain / Luchan Dilonhain the ancestor of the O Dillons / Ui Dillon Sept, and also *95.Colman Rimid who would became the 7th King of Aileach and the "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain 139th King of Tara / Ireland who was to die in 604 AD, which also saw the end his particular aristocratic warrior male line from 91.Eogan to the Kingships.
