                                                                       Coca Butter - Comfrey

COCA BUTTER - Theobroma cacao. N.B: Caffeine can cause Insomnia and the Jitters. Products: A thick creamy Oil used as an Emollient to lubricate the Skin used in natural Cosmetics and Creams.  

Used to Treat: Asthma: Contains Caffeine and two other Anti - Asthma compounds, Theobromine and Theophylline that belong to a group called Xanthines that stop Broncho Spasms and open constricted Bronchial Passages. Has about 50mg of Caffeine in a cupful.                       Hands: to soften or combine with equal parts of Almond Oil and Beeswax and melt together and stir until cool and keep in a dark glass jar.                             Wrinkles: 1 Tablespoon of Cocoa Butter, 1 Tablespoon Lanolin and 1/2 cup Wheat Germ Oil and combine in a non - Aluminium saucepan and heat over a low flame until melted together. Add 1 - 2 teaspoons of purified water to make more spreadable and remove from the heat and pour into a clean glass jar and tighten the lid and store in the refrigerator and shake well before use. 

COCONUT OIL - Is a white semisolid saturated Fat that forms the basis of most Cosmetics, Soaps, Shampoos and Hair & Skin preparations. Shampoos: used as a liquefied detergent base as a surfactant in Bath preparations, Foam cleansers and Shampoos as it is biodegradable and free of additives, Dyes and perfumes.

Used to Treat: Skin - Dry: us a lubricant individually or as a base for Herbal Oils.  

COD LIVER OIL - Internally: as a liquid Vitamin A, Vitamin D and certain Essential Fatty Acids. *Can be taken in Capsules.

 Used to Treat: Arthritis: to prevent.                                Blotches: to heal.                      Cold Sore Blisters: to heal.                      Gout:                   Nappy Rash: to heal.                   Ointment: to heal.                  Pimples: to heal.                   Rashes: to heal.                       Skin Allergies and Conditions: to heal.                          Horses: 10 mls  3 times a week

 COLCHICUM / Meadow Saffron (Highly Dangerous) Colchicum autumnale. Europe and North Africa. N.B: Should only be taken in minute quantities under specialist advice. Similar to a Tulip but growing from a Corm. Product: the Corm alone is used. Used to Treat: Gout: to relieve.                                     Rheumatic Conditions: to relieve. Quick to act.

COLLARD GREENS - Brassica oleracea. Used to Treat: Macular Degeneration:

COLTSFOOT / Cough Wood / Wort - Tussilago farfara / Europe near water. Main Use: A Lung Herb. Used in Cough mixtures as the best Herb known.

Actions: Anti - Catarrhal, Anti - Inflammatory, Anti - Intussive, Demulcent, Diuretic and Expectorant.

Cultivation: A small bright green Herb that is easy to grow on which the flowers appear before the leaves Products: the Leaves & Flowers being used with the Flowers harvested before they are in full bloom in Spring and the Leaves in early Summer. Combines well with Comfrey and Horehound. Infusion: 1 - 2 teaspoons per cup. Tincture: 2 - 4ml 3 times a day. 

 Used to Treat: Abscesses: Best as a Poultice.                            Asthma:                           Bed Sores: Best as a Poultice.                     Boils: Best as a Poultice.                  Breathlessness:                    Bronchial Tubes: to clean out.                            Bronchitis: Chest Conditions: Used in herbal Tobaccos to relieve.            Complexion - Flushed: as a weak Tea and use as a Skin Lotion on a Compress by adding 1 teaspoon of crumbled dried Leaves to 150ml of boiling water and infuse for 10 minutes then strain.                    Cough - Persistent - Irritable:                     Creams and Lotions: as an Astringent and Emollient.                      Cystitis: not the main herb for this Condition unless you have both Conditions.                     Digestive System: to clean out any irritation.              Emphysema:                          Face: Externally made into a Lotion to prevent Thread Veins.                             Insect Bites: pulp the Leaves and use warm as a Poultice.                   Lung Conditions: to clean out any irritation.             Phlegm: Skin Conditions: Externally and Internally as an Anti - Inflammatory especially Dry Skin that is stretched and tight that easily becomes chapped in cold weather, flaky in the Sun or prone to Wrinkles. Or pulp the Leaves and use warm as a Poultice. COMFREY / Knitbone / Boneset / Slippery Root - Symphytum officinale - Boraginaceae / Europe near water. N.B: Do not use if Pregnant or Breastfeeding. N.B:* One of the most remarkable Plants available for use as a herbal remedy. N.B: Take care with Deep Wounds due to the quick healing properties of Comfrey as it has a lack of Anti - Septic properties, and Anti - Septic herbs such as Calendula should be applied first as well as raw Honey. N.B: Comfrey is not allowed officially for *Internal use in Humans due to the presence of  Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids, which if ingested in excess over a long period of time are Poisonous. These Alkaloids are in higher concentrations in the Roots and Young Leaves and it has a cumulative effect and can be Poisonous if taken *Internally in large amounts.  

Actions: Alternative, Astringent, Demulcent, Expectorant, Haemostatic, Mucilage, Nutritive Tonic, Sedative, Symphto - Cynoglossin, Tannin and Vulnerary. Leaf Mucilage, Symphto - Cynoglossin and Tannin. Root: Valuable Astringent and Demulcent. Constituents: Allantoin and natural Vitamin B12.

Cultivation: A broad Leaf bushy plant with hairy green Leaves with mauve bell - shaped flowers that is easy to grow in the Spring with ample moisture and dies back in the Autumn / Winter period but the underground Roots continue to multiply. Subject to Rust when water stressed and requires Nitrogen. Easily grown from a small - piece of Root, 2" or longer, taken from a live plant early in the Spring and after digging the soil deeply and composting plant 1 1/2" deep leaving 1 metre around each plant. Grows to 60cm high and 75cm wide and can survive in low light situations and needs moderate fertilising. Grows in damper, cooler areas as it likes plenty of water and does not tolerate frost or too much Sun. Gather the Leaves fresh whenever needed 5 times a year with shears and gloves due to the hairs on the Leaves being an irritant and dig up the Roots & Rhizomes as required preferably when the plant has died back. N.B: Do not harvest in the first year or after early Autumn. (The Leaves can be dried.) The Foliage and Root contain a Nitrogenous, Crystalline substance, Allantoin, which is Cell proliferating. It has a Soothing & Healing effect upon every Organ it comes into contact with. Product: Use the Young Leaves & Root both Externally and *Internally?. Will heal Bone, Cartilage, Tendons, Soft Tissue, partly due to its Allantoin content, which promotes replacement of the relevant Cells at a much more rapid rate than in usual healing. Assists to treat damaged Mucosa. Bath: 500gm of fresh or dried Leaves soaked in 5 litres of cold water and the next day bring to the boil and add to the Bath. Infusion: 1 - 3 x teaspoons of the finely chopped herb per cup. *Internally: Used as a Tincture and Tea as its Mucilage properties make it a powerful healing agent. Ointment: Apply as required. Paste: Used to heal by mixing ground Comfrey Powder with 1 x teaspoon of Wheat Germ Oil & 1 x teaspoon of raw Honey. Poultice: Well dried Roots finely ground, mixed quickly with very hot water and a few drops of Cooking Oil and spread on a piece of linen and apply warm to the affected area and bandage. Or use the fresh Leaves, wash and beat to a pulp and apply to the affected part or scald the Leaves and apply warm. Poultices will reduce Bony Swellings in days. Tea: 2 x Teaspoons of finely chopped Roots soaked in 1/4 litre cold water overnight, warm in the morning, strain and take in sips. Tincture: Take 2 - 4ml 3 times a day. Wine: 2 to 5 Fresh Roots finely chopped and macerated in 1 litre of white wine for 5 to 6 weeks. Root Goo: Handful of fresh Root in a saucepan covered with water and boil and simmer until a cream forms and mash up when well cooked, strain and put on old Scars (Pock or Stretch marks) and Wrinkles as an overnight Mask. Wash off the next morning and continue to do twice a week until marks disappear. The Old Leaves can be used to activate Compost as they contain Vitamin B12.

Haemorrhoids:                         Haemorrhaging: as it is an Astringent that stops it and is soothing to Inflamed Tissue.                    Hiatus Hernia: Used as a Tincture and Tea as its Mucilage properties make it a powerful healing agent combined with Slippery Elm Powder and Aloe Vera Juice.                    Intestines - Inflamed: combined with Slippery Elm Powder and Aloe Vera Juice.                        Joints - Swollen: Externally - Used as a Tincture.                Mouth - Abrasions: to heal.             Mucus: loosens both clear and Infected and best to use with Coltsfoot.                        Muscular - Rheumatism:                     Neck - Pain:                    Nipples - Chapped: Externally - used as it speeds up the healing with fresh Poultices of Comfrey Leaves or use the hollow part of the Comfrey Root.                        Periostitis:                         Pulmonary Conditions: used as a Wine.                      Rheumatism: Externally - Used as a Tincture.                    Rheumatic Conditions: as a Bath.                 Skin - Irritations: to heal by peeling a piece of Comfrey Root 10cm long and place in a non - Aluminium saucepan with 150ml  of water and bring to the boil and strain and allow to cool and bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.                 Sores: Externally - used as it speeds up the healing with fresh Poultices of Comfrey Leaves.                    Stomach - Ulcers: combined with Slippery Elm Powder and Aloe Vera Juice.                     Sparaplegia:                           Sprains:                    Skin - Tears - Cuts: to heal with a Poultice of mashed Comfrey.                     Stomach - Ulcers: pour 1/4 litre boiling water over 2 x teaspoons of Root, Infuse for 3 minutes and take 3 to 4 cups a day.               Swellings: to calm down with an Infusion or Tea or with a Poultice of mashed Comfrey. Teeth - Extractions: afterwards put a few drops of boiling water on a little pad that contains 1 x teaspoon of chopped dried Comfrey Root and hold over the spot to reduce Inflammation and Swelling.                    Tissue - Inflamed: as it is soothing and is used in Poultices for healing and reducing Inflammation.                        Tissue - Scarred (new and old) used as Root Goo and reduces partly due to its Allantoin content, which promotes replacement of the relevant Cells at a much more rapid rate than in usual healing. Toxicity:                       Ulcers including Varicose Ulcers: Used in Poultices or Paste for healing and reducing Inflammation partly due to its Allantoin content, which promotes replacement of the relevant Cells at a much more rapid rate than in usual healing. May also be prescribed *Internally under specialist prescription.                      Vaginal Douche: combine 28gm of this herb with 28gm Slippery Elm Powder, 28gm Golden Seal, 28gm Squaw Vine and 28gm Chaparral and take 30gm of the mixture to 600ml of Water, cover and simmer for 30 minutes then cool and strain. Add 14ml of Apple Cider Vinegar and use once daily for 1 - 3 days.                       Vaginitis:                           Wounds: Externally - used as it speeds up the healing, as a Poultice of freshly bruised Leaves applied will increase the healing process and minimise Inflammation. Heals wounds quickly due to the Allantoin that stimulates Cell proliferation inside and out and can be also be used as an Infusion and soak the dressing. N.B. Comfrey is not Anti - Septic so in the early stages of Wound treatment, especially Deep Wounds and where there is Infection present or suspected, Anti - Septic herbs, such as Calendula, must be used first,         Wrinkles: as Root Goo.

 Horses: Used Externally and Internally for Animals. N.B: It is contra indicated for use on Young Horses with Osteo - Chondrosis, even though it is very useful in the treatment of early Arthritis patterns. N.B. Comfrey is not Anti - Septic so in the early stages of Wound treatment, especially Deep Wounds and where there is Infection present or suspected, Anti - Septic herbs, such as Calendula, must be used first, as well as Raw Honey. Comfrey is the highest plant source of Vitamin B12 and is also very high in Mucilage, which makes it valuable to help heal Gut Conditions such as Ulcers. Comfrey is commonly used as a fodder plant for Horses in Europe. Comfrey Leaves, either fresh or dried can be fed to Horses as an excellent adjunct to the External treatment. N.B: If fresh, only use the Large, Older Leaves. One handful of dried or chopped - wilted Leaves daily for an average sized Horse (450kg). Use a few Comfrey Leaves twice a week per Horse. Comfrey's Anti - Tumour affects are due to its Alkaloids. Ointment or Liquid: Boil the Leaves and then boil slightly in Apple Cider Vinegar when it is even better. Comfrey used for a while will occasionally produce a mild Blister. Used also to inhibit Cancer. Also available as an Oil and works very quickly with minute amounts required.
