Actions: Anti Bacterial, Anti - Septic, Mild Anti - Malarial, Aromatic, Cardiac Stimulant, Decongestant, Disinfectant & Diaphoretic. A Mild Anti - Malarial but not as good as Cinchona. Cultivation: Requires a sunny position in a well - drained soil and are grown from seeds that need watering regularly to establish and become Drought tolerant when mature but are subject to Beetle infestation creating die - back. The Oils are removed by Steam distillation with 5kg of Leaves producing 50ml of Oil.

EUPHORBIA / Euphorbia hirta. Tropical Asia. N.B: Must only be used on Professional advice as dosage rates are critical. *One of the best Anti Allergy herbs it is useful to treat Allergies affecting the Upper Respiratory System such as Asthma & Hay Fever, as well as Allergic reactions on the Skin such as Itchiness - Acute, Swelling & Sensitivity from Bites. Useful in the treatment of Acute or Chronic Conditions and results are generally rapid. Relaxes the Bronchi and used to treat Asthma. The Latex is used to treat Warts. Cultivation: Easy to grow in a sunny position and tolerant of free - draining, poorer, sandy soils and fairly Drought tolerant and Frost - hardy producing a yellow flowered Biennial plant to 1 metre / 3' high forming a basal rosette of Leaves producing a central flowering stalk culminating in a cluster of buds that open over successive nights. Requires a dry Sunny position and is luminous in the twilight with a delightful early display of pale yellow - lemon flowers that last only a short time but draw in Moths who mostly pollinate them. They come out in a long succession and open in the early evening but fade quickly to turn reddish - orange to be replaced by tubular seed - pods that produce many tiny seeds that spread freely. The whole plant is edible. Propagated from Seed sown in the Spring to Early Summer with extreme heat in Summer reducing the Gamma - Linolenic Acid - GLA content. Do not overcrow the plants as this will attract Powdery Mildew and if not in a well - drained soil Root Rot may also occur. Main Use: Specific as a Lotion for Eye Conditions as it is comforting & efficient. Actions: Anti - Inflammatory, Astringent & Healing. Constituents: contains a plant Glycoside that Soothes the Cornea. Cultivation: A diminutive insignificant Annual herb with small, toothed, rounded Leaves and yellow throated tiny white Flowers, striped or spotted with purple with the lower flower lip three - lobed with each lobe incised and it semi - parasitic on the roots of host plants such as Clover, Grasses and Plantain.  Does not like hot Summer conditions and requires a moist Alkaline soil and cool climate with the Seeds scattered around host grasses during Spring or plant the seeds in Dolomite or Lime soil enriched pots with meadow grasses. Harvest the whole herb when in flower and dry out.  Product: Leaves, Flowers & Stems used. Flowers: Cooling, Mildly Astringent & Toning effect on the Eyes as a Compress or Lotion for Eye Conditions or Infections.
