MALLOW DWARF / Marshmallow / Malva neglecta /  Mediterranean Europe. Animals: N.B: can cause the Staggers in Sheep in heavily infested paddocks. Cultivation: A Perennial herb commonly found in this region with small white - lilac flowers of 5 petals that are often streaked and notched at the tips with the base of the flowers enclosed in a cup. The plant grows to 60cm with a deep taproot and the round leaves have scalloped lobes and radiating veins. The nutlets are brownish - green when ripe with smooth hairy backs and the seedpods split into 8 - 12 wedge-shaped segments when ripe. Harvest in the cooler months just before flowering if drying the Leaves or collect Leaves & Stems whenever required for a Tea not the Roots. The Leaves can be eaten but tasteless. Ointment: combined with Knotweed. Tea: can be combined with Peppermint, Thyme & Sage. To gain the most Mucilage soak a handful of Mallow Leaves in a cup of water overnight and in the morning heat to boiling point, filter, add Lemon & Honey and drink. Or use a handful of Leaves and cover with a cup of boiling water. 

    Used to Treat: Abscesses: Externally: Use the Leaves as a Compress, Poultice or Ointment or soak a clean cloth in the Tea and cover the area. Throats - Sore: rich in Mucilage to soothe.

N.B: If Pregnant only use the Culinary amount. Actions: originally used as a powerful Stimulant,  Essential Oil: has Mild Anti - Septic, Anti - Microbial, Anti Oxidant & Tonic properties. Intestinal Infection: Joints - Aching: Infused Oil is rubbed on to soothe. Menstruation - Cramps - Delayed: with a Tea. Muscular - Aches: used for Mwith the strong Aromatic Oil as a warming rub.
