Taaffe or Taa or Tathe or Taffe / Tath (Descended from a son of David) Welsh origins. Arrived in Ireland in the 13th Century AD. English Earls in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster and Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province. English Barons in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of Connacht and Co. Dublin in the north - east of Southern Leinster. One of their branches were also in Connacht.

Tackaberry. See Thackaberry.

Tackney. They were in Co. Cavan in Southern Ulster and the surrounding region were it was also used as a synonym for Sexton, which see. Not connected to Tagney or Tasheny.

O Tagan or O Teegan - Irish / Ua Tadhgain / Tadhg / Teague. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory at Ballyteegan near Mountmellick in Co. Laois and nearby in Co. Kildare in Western Southern Leinster.

Mac Taggart or Priestman or Priestly. They were in Co. Tyrone in Central Ulster. See Mac Entaggart.

Mac Taghlin - Irish / Mac Giolla tSeachlainn (Descended from a son of a devotee of St. Seachlann / Secundinus who was an early missionary. A Sept / Family branch who had their territory in Co. Donegal in the north - west of the Ulster Province. Also see Houston.

Tagney. Used as a variant for Tangney, which see.

Mac Tague. See Mac Teigue.

O Taheny. They were in Co. Roscommon in the east of the Connacht Province. See  also O Teahan - Irish / Ua Teitheachain of which it may be a variant. 

O Taidhg - Irish / Ua Thaidhg. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Kerry in Iar Mhumhain / Southern Western Munster.

Talbot . Originally Talboid. Anglo Norman origins. They were English Earls in Co. Wexford in the south - east of Southern Leinster and were also there in Co. Wicklow and nearby in Co. Waterford in the south - east of the Munster Province. They came to hold the Malahide Estate in Co. Dublin in north - eastern Southern Leinster for 800 years. Malahide Castle was founded by Richard Talbot in the 12th Century AD and is still held by them with its 15th Century AD tower still intact. During his Invasion, Oliver Cromwell seized their Castle and the ruins of the Abbey are nearby and Maud Plunkett who married Lord Talbot the Admiral of the Seas, is interred there and St. Donlough is buried in the Church nearby. Later another Richard Talbot was the Earl of Tyrconnell who acted as the Supreme Commander for the Catholic English King, James 11 against the invading forces of William of Orange.

O Talcharan. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province.

Talcher -

Tallant or Tallent. English origins. They have been in Co. Carlow and Co. Dublin in Southern Leinster since the 16th Century AD. May also be a variation of Tallon, which see.

Tallen -

O Talleran. An important Irian Conmaicne Cuile Toladh Sept / Family branch - who had their territory at Kilmaine in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. See especially O Tolleran.

Tallon or Talon / Talun. Anglo - Norman origins. They were in Co. Carlow in Southern Leinster. Tallonstown is in Co. Louth in the north - east of Northern Leinster.

O Tally - Irish / Ua Taithligh. Originally Mac Taichligh / taithleach (peaceable). An Erenagh  Sept / Family branch who had their territory in Devenish in Co. Fermanagh in the south - west of the Ulster Province. Tally was also used as a synonym for Tully, which see, in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster.

O Talran. An important Irian Conmaicne Cuile Toladh Sept / Family branch who had their territory at Kilmaine in Co. Mayo in the mid - west of the Connacht Province. Especially see O Toleran.

O Talty - Irish / Ua Tailtigh. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in the west of Co. Clare in the north - west of Thomond / Tuaiscert Mhumhain / Northern Munster. Not connected to Tally in the Ulster Province.

Tanclory -

Tandy / Andrew. They have been in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster since the 14th Century AD.

O Tangney - Irish / Ua Teangana. A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Kerry in Iar Mhumhain / South Western Munster They were kinsmen to the Mac Elligotts, which see. Tangley may be a variant.

Tankard. (Maker of tankards). They were in the Leinster Province in Medieval times. Tancred was used as a synonym. See also Hankard.

Tanner. Anglo Norman occupational origins. In Ireland since Medieval Times.

O Tanny or O Tannay or O Tanney or O Tannie or O Taney - Irish / Ua Tanaidhe. They are descended from 96.Conor / Conchobar (a brother to 96.Aed Allan the 155th King of Ireland and to 96.Niall Frossach the 157th King of Ireland). Mac Tansey - Irish / Mheic an Tanaiste / Tanaiste (Prince / heir apparent). A Sept / Family branch, who had their territory in Co. Sligo in the north - west of the Connacht Province and nearby in Co. Roscommon in the east of Connacht.

Tarleton. English origins. They came from Liverpool in 1600 AD and were in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster.
