*Acidophilus: Is a special culture usually made from Goat's Milk and will enhance and replace missing Intestinal & Vaginal flora.

*Acupunture: is used to treat Disease by inserting the tips of long needles into the Skin at certain points and rotate back and forth by hand, or charged with a small electric current for 5 minutes or so. It can induce absence of pain during most surgical operations. It may alter the balance between two important divisions of the Nervous System, the Sympathetic and the Parasympathetic Systems or certain meridians of the two life forces Yin & Yang.

*Candidiasis: Can be treated by consuming Acidophilus Yoghurt every day and douche with diluted Yoghurt. Mix 1/2 x teaspoon of Acidophilus Powder in a glass of warm water and swish through the Mouth to combat any Yeast in the Oral Cavity then swallow. It can also be used as a gentle low - pressure Douche. You can buy a Yoghurt Starter Culture to make your own.

*Agar - Agar / Japanese Isinglass / Gelidium amansii / Wild - Japan. Made up of Powdered Seaweeds found in Japanese waters. Used to Treat: Stubborn Constipation – Relieves by absorbing up to 160 times its own weight in water and can be added to stewed fruit. Imported in Thin Strips about 12" / 31cm long. Also used especially for scientific Cultures & Commerce. A thickener it is used in Japanese cooking.

Air Freshener: toss a handful of dried Thyme onto a fire in Winter or burn fragrant Oil of Thyme in an incense burner.

*Bath: pour boiling Water onto dried herbs and steep and add the cooled liquid to the bath water or pack the herbs into bath bags and suspend under the tap while the hot water is running - See also Cold Pressed Oils below. For Aches in Joints / Muscles: a Birch Bark infusion is used, or after exercising or the discomfort of Arthritis. Calming: to ease aching Limbs combine Bay Leaves, Chamomile, Lemon Balm & Lime Flowers & Rosemary. It is also used for stiff Joints and to relax Muscles. Cleansing:  3/4 x cup of Borax, 1-2 teaspoons of Essential Oil (as required - Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Lavender etc) Combine with Borax in a container with a lid and use a heaped teaspoon per bath. Other dry ingredients can also be used such as Almond Meal, Orrisroot Powder or Soap Flakes for their additional cleansing properties. Extra Cleansing: add 1 x Tablespoon of fine Oatmeal or Bran and this will leave the Skin silky and smooth. Lovage is a natural Deodorant and has a pleasant smell.Mitts: Stitch 3 layers of fabric together on 3 sides / Face Cloths or any natural absorbent fabric or even silk. The open end forms 2 pockets, one for the Hand and one to hold the herbs. For dry, Itchy Skin 60gm, Cornstarch, 60gm Almond Meal, 60gm Oatmeal, 60gm Cornmeal, 30gm dried Chamomile Flowers and spray with Essential Oil if extra fragrance is required. Refreshing: use Eucalyptus & Lavender and both are natural Disinfectants, Borage, Peppermint & Sage enlivening herbs. Spearmint is a great Body Tonic to start the day. Basil, Marjoram, Meadow Sweet & Pennyroyal can be combined in any order as a mild Tonic effect. Salts: Spray 3 parts Sea Salt, one part powdered Irish Moss and 1 part Bicarbonate of Soda with a fragrant Essential Oil and toss well and if colour is required add a few drops of pure Vegetable dye and mix well.   Scented: combine equal quantities of Chamomile Flowers, Lemon & Orange Flowers & Leaves and peel and Rose Petals and simmer all in a muslin bag in water and add to the bath water and use the bag as a body scrub. Use packs of dried Elder Flowers and leaves in a bath bag and add equal quantities of chopped Geranium Root & Nettle Leaves to assist to heal minor irritations of the Skin. Dried Marigold / Calendula - Flowers will assist with chafed and dry Skin. ·        Warm: for Circulation and to soften the Skin on a cold day - steep 15gm of fresh grated Ginger in boiling water and mix with Witch Hazel and a little Almond Oil and rub briskly into the wet Skin while in the bath using a body brush. Crushed Cloves & Bay Leaves could also be a combination for a warming bath.

*Beeswax: Included in natural Cosmetics, as it is an Emollient and nourishing, an Emulsifier & Binder in Creams, especially for the Lips and protection. Usually sold in pressed cakes at pharmacies.

*Borax: is a Mineral Salt used in natural Cosmetics & Creams for its Anti - Septic properties and has a slightly Acidic effect and is used to emulsify Beeswax to prepare a base for a Cream or Lotion.

*Brewers Yeast: Use instead of Vitamin B Pills as it gives no Yellow Urine and more Energy. Contains B Complex Vitamins B1 - Thiamine 60 - 100 micrograms per gram, B3 - Riboflavin 35 - 50, Niacin 300 - 500, Biotin - 1-2, Pyridoxine 25 - 30, Pantothenic Acid 70, & Folic Acid 5 - 13. Hardly contains any Sodium but is an excellent source of Potassium, Phosphorus and other Minerals and the trace Minerals Copper, Selenium, Manganese, Chromium, Molybdenum, Zinc, Silicon & Sulphur. Can be sprinkled over Cereal or can be added to freshly squeezed Juice to ensure an adequate intake of the B Group of Vitamins. Can be mixed as a Powder with Honey or Witch Hazel or Wheat Germ Oil and an Egg and apply as a Toning, regenerating Mask. Assists to enhance and preserve the Hair. Facial / Tonic: combine 1 x teaspoon of powdered Brewer's Yeast to enough warm water to form a Paste and apply to the Skin as a Mask and allow to dry and rinse off and pat dry with a soft towel. Sunburn: break up a cake of Brewer's Yeast or crush 5 tablets and mix with a 1/2 x cup of Apple Cider Vinegar and blend in well to cool the Skin.

*Buttermilk: A by - product of Butter that is slightly Acid and soothing and has an Astringent effect on the Skin to reduce oversized Pores used for Allergies, Freckles, Pimples, Skin discoloration & Sunburn. Put on the Face with the Hands or cotton wool balls and allow to dry for 10 minutes and rinse off with tepid water and then pat dry with a soft towel. (Especially good for Summer.)

*Charcoal: A sour Stomach is sometimes caused by insufficient Hydrochloric Acid secretions and the food does not break down quickly enough in the Stomach and this also creates the growth of Micro - Organisms that produce Bad Breath. Charcoal Tablets taken between meals absorb the odour and the Bacteria that may be causing it allowing the Digestive System to re - establish balance.

*Cold Pressed Oils: are used in Cosmetics as preservatives and also to soften the Skin and a few Tablespoons of these naturally scented Oils can be added to warm baths, Almond Oil, Apricot Oil & Avocado Oil - See under Herbs. Castor Oil: is used to strengthen the Hair and a specially treated Castor Oil / Turkey Red Oil that disperses in Water can be used in a bath. Olive Oil: is rich and Emollient - See under Herbs. Wheat Germ Oil: is healing - contains Vitamin E.

*Cosmetics:

*Coriander: to enhance fragrances in Creams, Lotions & Perfumes.

*Cosmetic Cream: 1/2 x cup grated Beeswax, 1/2 x cup Almond Oil, 4 x Tablespoons distilled Water, a few drops of any Essential Oil as required and melt the wax in a double boiler over low heat and add the Oil and beat very slowly. Add Water while continuing to beat until the mixture starts to emulsify. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly, adding fragrant oil if desired and continue to whisk until all of the mixture is thoroughly blended then pour into clean glass jars and cap securely. 

*Deodorants: combine Apple Cider Vinegar with herbs to create a subtle perfume and Anti - Bacterial compound including, Calendula - Marigold, Eau - de - Cologne Mint, Tea Tree (really good), Thyme or Yarrow or others to suite and soft Essential Oils such as Geranium, Lemon & Ylang - Ylang.

*Essential Oils: are the concentrated pure plant Extracts of Herbs & Flowers to obtain their fragrance and therapeutic value to assist the health of both the Body & Mind used in bathing, inhalation or massage and known collectively as Aromatherapy. They can be detoxifying, relaxing or reviving.

*Exfoliations: are used for Skin Care treatments such as Alabaster, Bran & Milk, Loofahs, Pumice Stones, Oatmeal Scrubs, Salt & Tropical Fruit. The Sun burns the Skin, destroys Collagen - elastic Fibres that keep the Skin soft and youthful, thickens the Outer Layer that is already made up of rough, dead Cells that need to be removed. Almond / Olive / Sesame Oil:  See under Almond in Herb section. Cornmeal: See under Corn in Herb section. Feet / Dry: rub 1 x Tablespoon of Mayonaisse into each one before bedtime and cover with light cotton socks and rinse off any excess in the morning and repeat for one week.        Pumice Stone: used in the bath or shower to regularly rub over Calluses, Elbows, Knees & Feet to soften and smooth. Sea Salt / Wheat Germ Oil: blend a cup of Sea Salt with 3 x Tablespoons of Wheat Germ Oil and gently massage the mixture over any rough surface of the Skin. As the dead Skin Cells are removed Essential Oils are added to bring a glow to the Complexion.
