RAINBOW FARMS AUSTRALIA
6th Century AD
Ireland by this period in time was basically under the control of the 3 principal aristocratic warrior Septs of the Scythian Celtic Gaelic / Goidelic Milesians who had originated from 3 of the sons of 36.Mil the Celtic Hero of Spain, *37.Eremon, *37.Eber Fionn and 37.Ir. *37.Eremon was the direct male line ancestor of all of the Heremonian Septs, of which the most predominant of these would be through his descendant, *59.Ugaine Mor - the Great who had been the Gaelic Milesian 66th King of Tara / Erinn and his 2 sons,*60.Leary / Laoghaire Lorc who had been the Gaelic Milesian 68th King of Tara / Erinn and *60.Coffey / Cobhthach Caol Breagh who had been the Gaelic Milesian 69th King of Tara / Erinn. *60.Leary Lorc became the direct male line ancestor of the 2 main Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Septs in Southern Leinster (Ui Lughaidh and Ui Connla) and *60.Coffey Caol Breagh became the direct male line ancestor of the many Ui Cobhthaigh Septs all over Ireland.
*60.Leary / Laoghaire Lorc's descendant, 77.Breasal Breac was to have 2 important sons, who were in turn to produce the 2 main Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Septs in Southern Leinster namely, 78.Lewy / Lughaidh the ancestor of the Ui Lughaidh Septs there in Southern Leinster and 78.Connla the ancestor of the Ui Connla Septs there also in the south - west of Southern Leinster.
78.Lewy / Lughaidh as the male line ancestor of the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Septs was next folloed in importance by his descendant 86.Cu Corb who became the direct male line ancestor of the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Gailni Septs there also who were to have their territory initially in the southern part of Northern Leinster, but later on mostly in Southern Leinster itself. The Cu Corb Septs would play a major part in Southern Leinster with the Terryglass monastery being founded by St. Columb mac Crimthainn a Cu Corb Prince, who would himself become the ancestor of Aed Mac Crimthann who would in the future be involved in the compilation of the Book of Leinster in the 12th Century AD as the monasteries in the west of Southern Leinster across Co. Offaly in the north - west to the River Shannon and Loch Derg, were to be by then still under the control of the Cu Corb Septs in Southern Leinster. In time the Cu Corb Ui Garrchon Sept who are descended directly from one of the sons of 86.Cu Corb in 87,Mess Corb through his great - grandson, 90.Garrchu, and the Cu Corb Ui Enechglais Sept descended from another of his sons, 87.Nia Corb through his great - grandson, *90.Caher / Cathair Mor who would be the Gaelic Milesian 109th King of Tara / Ireland and then through one of his 9 sons, 91.Bressal Enechglas, were to be eventually forced to retreat to the Wicklow Mountains in Co. Wicklow in the south - east of Southern Leinster. This would be due to the increasing pressure from their Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill kinsmen in Midhe / Meath in Northern Leinster, and once there they were to assimilate into the other southern Cu Corb Septs never to be individually heard of again. During the 8th Century AD the same thing was to also happen to the Cu Corb Ui Mail Sept, which was another Sept descended from 87.Nia Corb, through another grandson, 90.Maine Mal, (who was a brother to *90.Cahir / Cathair Mor) who is himself the direct male line ancestor also of the Ui Theig Sept, and the Ui Chellaig / Kelly Cualann Sept. They would continue to persist in the Kingships of Leinster until the death of 101.Kelly / Cellach Cualann who would then be the 13th King of Leinster who was to die in 715 AD, which was to finally end the Ui Mail male line also altogether to the Cu Corb Kingships of Leinster. The most predominant surviving Cu Corb Septs would then become the Cu Corb Ui Dunlainge / Dowling Septs and the Cu Corb Ui Cheinnselaig / Cinsellagh Septs in Southern Leinster descending initially from another son of *90.Cahir Mor the Gaelic Milesian 109th King of Tara / Ireland, in 91.Fiacha Ba hAiccid - the Lame and his son, 92.Bressal Belach who would become the Cu Corb 1st King of Leinster. In turn his son, 93.Enda / Enna Nia was to be the father of 94.Dowling / Dunlaing the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Dunlainge Septs, while another son, 93.Labraid Laidech was to be the father of 94.Enda / Enna Cennsalach / Cinsellagh who was to become the 2nd King of Leinster and the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Cheinnselaig / Kinsellagh / Cinsellagh Septs.
78.Lewy's brother, 78.Connla was to become the direct male line ancestor of the other main Sept in Southern Leinster, the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Connla Osraige Sept who had their territory in the kingdom of Ossory / Co. Kilkenny in the south - west of Southern Leinster who in more modern times would result in the Fitz Patricks evolving there.
Meanwhile, *59.Ugaine Mor's other son, *60.Coffey / Cobhthaigh who had been the Celtic Gaelic Milesian Heremonian 69th King of Tara / Erinn, became the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Cobhthaigh Septs all over Ireland as he is the direct male line ancestor of *82.Felim / Feidhlimidh who was to be the Gaelic Milesian 108th King of Tara / Ireland who also became the direct male line male ancestor of the Ui Felim Septs. In turn, one of his sons, *83.Conn - of the Hundred Battles was to be the Gaelic Milesian 110th King of Tara / Ireland who is the direct male line ancestor of all of the Dal Cuinn Septs (The People of *83.Conn) one of which is composed of the Dal Cuinn 3 Connachta Septs who were to all have their territory in the Connacht Province (The Land of *83.Conn). They were to be descended from his descendant, *89.Eochy Mugmedon the Gaelic Milesian 124th King of Tara / Ireland, through 3 of his sons, 90.Brion the direct male line ancestor of all of the Ui Briuin Septs, 90.Fiachra the direct male line ancestor of the 2 main "southern" and "northern" Ui Fiachrach Septs, and 90.Ailill the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Ailello Septs. Another of their Dal Cuinn kinsmen were the Ui Niaill Septs descended from the 3 Connachta's half - brother *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages who would become the Gaelic Milesian 126th King of Tara / Ireland, who are known now as the "southern," and the "northern" Ui Niaill who were to have their territory in the north - west of the Ulster Province, while the "southern" Ui Niaill were to have their territory in the Midlands / Midhe / Northern Leinster.
The Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Septs were to be descended from 5 of the 8 sons of *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages the Gaelic Milesian 126th King of Tara / Ireland, and of these 91.Cairpre / Coirpre Mor is the ancestor of the Cenel Cairpre Septs who were to have their Family territory in the north - east of the Connacht Province and also nearby in Co. Longford in the north - west of Northern Leinster and they were to come up against the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Septs in Northern Leinster while trying to extend there territory there further. 91.Cairpre's son, 92.Cormac Caech was to be the father of *90.Toole / Tuathal Mael Garb who was to become the one and only Gaelic Milesian "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel Cairpre 132nd King of Tara / Ireland, from his particular "southern" Ui Niaill male line, from 536 AD until 544 AD, which brought a quick sudden end to their particular male line to the Kingship. Later their "southern" Ui Niaill territory was also to be at Granard were they shared the territory at Tethbae with another "southern" Ui Niaill kingdom belonging to another of his brothers, 91.Maine the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel Maine Septs, to the south, which was beyond the River Inny from it's southern boundary down the eastern side of Loch Ree and the River Shannon into Co. Offaly situated in the mid - west of Southern Leinster. (91.Maine was to leave no issue at all towards the "southern" Ui Niaill Kingship of Ireland). Another brother, 91.Fiachu became the 2nd King of Meath and the direct male line ancestor of the "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel Fiachach Septs who were also to leave no issue towards the Kingship. Another brother, *91.Leary / Laoghaire had been the Gaelic Milesian "southern" Ui Niaill 128th King of Tara / Ireland and who had died in 461 AD and his son, *92.Lewy / Lughaidh had then been the Gaelic Milesian 130th King of Tara / Ireland who was to die in 507 AD, which also was to bring to an end their Cenel Laoghaire direct male line to the Kingship also. Of these 5 southern Ui Niaill sons of *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages the 126th King of Ireland only 91.Conall Cremthainne's direct male line known by then as the Clann Cholmain would persist in the Kingship of Ireland until 1022 AD.
On the other hand, the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Septs were to be from the other 3 sons of *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages the Gaelic Milesian 126th King of Tara / Ireland who were to have their territory originally in the north - west of the Ulster Province, with one of them 91.Enda the direct male line ancestor of the Ui Endae Septs who also left no Kings of Ireland, and whose Ui Endae Septs over time would become absorbed into the Septs of his 2 other "northern" Ui Niaill brothers. 91.Conall Gulban the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel Conaill who were to produce 10 Kings of Ireland up until *96.Flaherty / Flaithbertach the Gaelic Milesian 159th King of Ireland was to abdicate in 734 AD. 91.Eogan the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel nEogain was to produce 18 Cenel nEogain Kings of Ireland up until *111.Murtough Mac Lochlainn the Gaelic Milesian 182nd King of Ireland was to die in 1166 AD. All of the Septs / Family branches from both the "northern" and "southern" Tuaths / Family regions of the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn Ui Niaill from this time on were to be as one (fintiu) and their territories were to be their hereditary family land from now on as they continued to produce the majority of the Kings of Ireland.
The Gaelic Milesian Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire Dal Riada / riata (People of 89.Eochy / Eochaidh / Cairbre Riada) Septs were another individual Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire kingdom who now had their territory in the north - east in Co. Antrim in the Ulster Province originally migrating there due to a bad Drought occurring in the Munster Province in their previous territory in the south of Ireland. 90.Erc the King of Dal Riada was a son of 89.Eochy / Cairbre Riada, who had been one of the 3 sons of *88.Conaire 11 the Gaelic Milesian 111th King of Tara / Ireland who had been also descended from *60.Coffey / Cobthach Caol Breagh (the brother of *60.Laoghaire Lorc) who had been the 2 most important sons of *59.Ugaine Mor - the Great the Gaelic Milesian 66th King of Tara / Erinn. (N.B: *60.Coffey Caol Breagh is also the direct male line ancestor of the previously mentioned Dal Cuinn Septs.) 89.Cairbre Riada was also a son of 84.Saraid, who was another of the daughters of *83.Conn - of the Hundred Battles who had been the previous Gaelic Milesian 110th King of Tara / Ireland before *88.Conaire 11, who is the direct male line ancestor of all of the Dal Cuinn Septs. 89.Cairbre Riada along with his two brothers, who collectively are now known as the 3 Cairbres, are the direct male line aristocratic warrior ancestors of the Muscraige Septs, the Earna Septs, the Corco Duibne Septs and the Ui Baschaoin Septs (People of Muskerry) in Southern Munster, and originally also in the Highlands of Scotland. After the long Drought in the Munster Province 89.Caibre Riada's son, 90.Erc was to secure their territory there in the far north - east of Co. Antrim from the Celtic Gaelic Milesian Irian Dal nAraidi Sept descended from 37.Ir. the direct male line ancestor of the Irian Septs, who had been the brother of *37.Eremon the direct male line ancestor of the Heremonians, and *37.Eber Fionn the direct male line ancestor of the Heberians. The initial Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire territory in Ireland had originally also been in the Midlands / Midhe / Northern Leinster from where they had also migrated previously into Southern Munster, then due to the extensive Drought occurring there, the followers of 90.Erc had then migrated first up into the north - east of Ulster, and then later on migrated 13 mile across the Irish Sea to extend their Irish kingdom of Dal Riada back into the territory there in the Scottish Highlands, which they had previously occupied and been driven out of by the Scythian Gaelic Picts, which later became known as Argyll (The Land of the Gael) This then meant that their collective kingdom was in Ireland and Alba / Albany / Scottish Highlands divided by the North Channel. They were to settle their Scottii / Irishmen, (previously named for Scotia the daughter of Nectanbus the Pharoah of Egypt, the wife of 36.Mil and the mother of *37.Eremon, *37.Eber Fionn and 37.Ir, into the regions now known as Kintyre, Knapdale and Lorn, and divided the territory there up between them. Because they were then in the Scottish Highlands they were to be in constant conflict with the Scythian Gaelic Picts for centuries, often supported by the Celtic Britons who were in the Scottish Lowlands who were themselves to be driven out of Briton to Strathclyde, with the Attacotti also to contend with in the territory there in Galloway, and the Saxons in the south - east of Scotland.
The kingdom of Dal Riada there was to be eventually secured by 90.Erc's male line descendant Loarn whose maternal grandson in the Ulster Province in Ireland, 93.Fergus mac Ercae was to take his brothers and 150 followers over from Co. Antrim in Ulster to assist Loarn against the continuing onslaught of the Scythian Gaelic PIcts there. 93.Fergus mac Ercae's older brother *93.Murtogh mac Ercae was the Gaelic Milesian 131st King of Ireland who was from the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain, and 93.Fergus mac Ercae's descendant 96.Gabhran was to actually be the one to set up in Knapdale were he was to build a fortress on Dunadd Rock surrounded by bog land, and 93.Fergus mac Ercae then became the direct male line ancestor of the Gaelic Scottish Highland Kings down to Malcolm 111 Cean Mor and his son, Alexander 1st - the Fierce, who was a son of the Saxon Princess, St. Margaret. After the Saxon and Norman influence was first introduced by her into the Scottish Highlands that was to be the beginning of the end for the Gaelic way of life there. 88.Gabhran's son, 89.Aedan / Aodhan was the first to be Inaugurated as a Celtic King under the auspices of the Catholic Celtic Church on Iona (The Island of the Saints) by his Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill kinsmen, 94.St. Columbcille / St. Columba and they were from then on to be referred to as belonging to The Kindred of 94.St. Columbcille / St. Columba). Within 50 years the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Riada Scottii Septs had come into conflict with the Scythian Cruthin Gaelic Picts / Painted People in the east of the Scottish Highlands who were also under attack from the Celtic Romano Britons and the Teutonic Germanic Angles in the south. The Brythonic Kings of Strathclyde who had their fortress on Dunbarton Rock also were to come up against the Scythian Gaelic Picts and the Dal Riada Scottii from then on, until finally *88.Gabhran's direct male line descendant 104.Kenneth mac Alpine would combine the Scythian Gaelic Milesians and the Scythian Gaelic Picts in Albany becoming the Scythian Gaelic Highland Kings of Albany and Scotland.
4 further Septs would result in Alba / Scotland including the Cenel Gabrain, the Cenel Comgall descended from 72.Fergus, and the Cenel Lorn and the Cenel Angus froms two of his other brothers, later still the Cenel nGuaire, the Cenel Fionn Chuinc, the Mac Onan / Adhamnain, the Mheic Eogain of Eirtre, the Mag Giolla Eogain and the Mag Giolla Laghmain.
Prior to all of this occurring, previously in 396 AD, St. Ninian had also introduced Christianity into Alba / Albany / Scottish Highlands, but in the very early 5th Century AD the Romans were to pull out of Briton leaving the Romano - Celtic Britons to their own fate as under Roman rule they had not been allowed to have any major military support of their own, and along came the Teutonic Germans, the Jutes, the Angles and the Saxons to help them out and soon gained the inside running. The Romano - Celtic Britons were also to be soon driven from Briton into Strathclyde, with the Attacotti Septs eventually also settling into Galloway in Alba / Scottish Highlands, while the Gasconi Septs were in the south - east with the Teutonic Saxons.
The Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Scottii Clans who would then make up the four most important individual Tuaths / Family regions in the Scottish Highlands, the Cenel Gabhrain and the Cenel Comhghaill Septs descended from 93.Fergus, the Cenel Lorn and Cenel Aengus Septs descended from 93.Lorn and 93.Aengus, respectively. 93.Fergus mac Ercae as the new King of Dal Riada along with his brothers, and there followers were to eventually gain control of a vast area in the west of Alba / Scottish Highlands. Previously in Co. Antrim in the far north - east of Ulster Province they had been separated from their other inland Heremonian kinsman by the Ulaid kingdom that was also in the north - east based on the Irian Dal nAraide Septs, descended from 37.Ir, which they could not triumph over. Originally *37.Eremon had given over the Gaelic wives of those warriors who had perished in the initial Gaelic expedition into Ireland to the Scythian Cruthin Septs who had assisted him in the south of Ireland in a battle against a group of Britons who had infiltrated the south of Ireland using poisoned spears, on condition they selected their future Cruithin Kings from the female line. The Gaels had always selected theirs from the male line and as 96.Kenneth mac Alpine's grand - mother was from the female line of the Cruthin Gaelic Kings it was only natural that he could readily try and combine both positions as the accepted heir to both Tuaths / Family regions in Alba. There were originally 7 Cruthin territories, Caithness / Caith, Sunderland, Ross / Fidach / Moray, Athol / Fodhla, West Perthshire / Fortremn, Mar / Ce / Buchan, Mearns / Ciric and Fife / Fibh besides the 4 territories of the Dal Riada kingdom in the Scottish Highlands.
The Celtic Gaelic Milesian Irian Ulaid Septs in the Ulster Province who were originally descended from 37.Ir, in the early 4th Century AD had lost their right to the Kingship of Ulster and also of Ireland altogether, with the destruction of their Navan Fort of Emain Macha / Armagh in Co. Armagh in Ulster by the Heremonian Dal Cuinn 3 Colla brothers expedition, and later on during this Century and the 7th Century AD they were to re - form a confederation of their own once again in the north - east. The Dal nAraidi Septs were to then produce 14 Kings of Ulaid until 104.Aed their 44th King was to die in 972 AD, while the other main Sept there in Ulaidh was to be the Heremonian Dal Fiatach who are descended from 103.Fiatach Fionn (Daire) - who had been the Gaelic Milesian Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh 103rd King of Tara / Ireland whose male line was to produce 58 Kings of Ulaid until 113.Rory / Ruaidri the 69th King of Ulaid was to die in 1201 AD after the Anglo - Norman English Invasion.
The 2 main Celtic Gaelic Milesian Heberian Septs descended from *37.Eber Fionn, the Eoghanachta (People of 85.Eoghan) and the Dal gCais (People of 90.Cas), were to continue to control the territories in the south in the Munster Province, while always trying to regain their over - lordship once again into their original territory also in Mogha's Half that was geographically also in Southern Leinster. The Eoghanachta would initially become the more predominant Sept in producing the Kings of Cashel / Munster from now on until 109.Molloy / Maelmuad the future 40th King of Cashel / Munster was to meet his end in 978 AD, and the Heberian Dal gCais Ui Bloid Ui Turlough Sept would then emerge triumphant due to the continuing Viking incursions and disruption to the Irish Brehon Law and they would then also produce Kings of Cashel / Munster and Ireland, until 110.Donnell Mor O Brian the 47th King of Cashel / Munster was to die in 1194 AD also after the Anglo - Norman English Invasion.
Throughout this Century, and up until the year 800 AD, after the actual beginning of the first Viking incursions, there were still to be placed throughout Ireland nearly 300 Ogham Stones, which basically are a form of religious inscribed tombstones containing their inscriptions written in the Ogham Alphabet. (Ogma, a son of the Daghda Mor the Scythian Tuatha De Danann King, has been credited with inventing this type of writing).
The "Golden Age" in Ireland was to also begin during this Century with the advent of the monastic schools, that had initially originated in Egypt, and it would continue to last until the coming of the violent incursions were to be carried out by the Vikings. Ireland would become known as the "Island of Saints and Scholars," as the Irish Catholic missionaries would travel throughout Europe, during and after the Dark Ages, establishing Catholic religious centres everywhere they went. The personal desire of the Irish monks at this time was to "exile" themselves from their Families and their territories, and this religious "sacrifice" would then also lead onto an increase in monasteries in Ireland, Albion / Briton and Europe. They considered their "greatest sacrifice" was to leave Ireland altogether, and go on a pilgrimage / peregrinatio. Although originally committed hermits these "Saints of Ireland" due to their piety and way of life were to attract many followers from whom they could not escape, as their reputations for piety and learning grew. They were forbidden to baptise or receive alms, and as the land in Ireland was still then held by the individual Tuatha / Family regions under the Brehon Law this led on to many of the monasteries being endowed by the individual Irish Septs / Family branches themselves. This also meant that the Bishops / supervisors held no sway outside of their own Family territory and that their dioceses / paruchia were restricted to their own Family kin / fine. It would be also up to these monks to record the individual past history of their Celtic Family, their myths, and their legends. Due to the Celtic territorial boundaries of the Tuaths / Family regions no church "hierarchy" was therefore able to develop in Ireland until later on, which was then due to the overall expansion of the monasteries. This would then also create "mother houses," which were to prevail over the smaller Family monasteries in the other territories that originally belonged to the individual Family regions, such as those of 94.St. Columbcille / Columba in Ireland, and also St. Columbanus who later greatly expanded his missionary work further into Europe.
St. Finnian who in reality was the foster - father of the "Saints of Ireland," initially was to set up his own monastery, and he was to be the first Celtic Catholic Bishop of Clonard in Co. Meath in the north - east of Northern Leinster. His was a model for the many monasteries that were to follow, with his self - discipline, and especially so his promotion of the intellectual life. Unfortunately the remains of his college, churches, round tower and the chapels were to be among those destroyed in the future by the Teutonic Viking incursions, and the on going English ethnic repression and religious oppression of "All things Irish." He had 12 disciples or Apostles, including St. Brendan at Clonfert and Ardfert who was from the Altraige Sept, who had been educated by St. Erc at Tralee in Co. Kerry in the south - west of Munster Province, St. Brendan of Birr whose monastery was also in Munster, who was from the Corco Auloimm Sept, St. Kenneth / Cairnech / Canice who founded the monastery in Aghaboe in Co. Laois in the mid - north - west of Southern Leinster, were he was to die and be interred and who was also venerated in the Highlands of Scotland where several churches in Argyle are named after him. St. Comhghall who was at the monastery at Bangor in the north - east of Ulster Province, which eventually was to have 3,000 monks and teachers studying there. (Lugh "Bran" a Druid who served under Crimthann had foretold the birth of St. Kieran / Ciaran mac in tSair (Descended from a son of the carpenter) who founded the monastery at Clonmacnoise in the sub kingdom of Delbna Bethra in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster, which drew Abbots from Tuatha - Aithech all over Ireland. Another St. Kieran / Ciaran was of Saighir / Seirkieran who was from the Gaelic Ithian Corco Loigde aristocratic warrior Sept in Southern Munster. St. Columb of Tir na nGlass, 94.St. Columbcille was also at Durrow Abbey, which is now only a ruin situated 4 mile south - east of Clara in Co. Offaly in the north - west of Southern Leinster, who was also set up at Derry in Northern Ulster, and on the island of Iona / Holy Island situated between Ireland and Scotland were many of the future Gaelic Scottish Kings are interred. Cork in Southern Munster. St. Garlath was in Tuam, St. Kevin / Caoimhin, who also studied under St. Petroc from Cornwall, was to set up at Glendalough in Co.
