DANDRUFF and SEBORRHOEA / Itchy Scalp - See also Hair - Cause: usually by Seborrhoea, an Inflammation - Dermatitis of the Scalp.

Symptoms: Unsightly white flakes - dead Scalp Skin that appears on the Hair and Scalp. *Wash Hair regularly in a natural Shampoo. Oily Hair: use Wild Nettle to remove grease and Oil without stripping the essential Oils.Itchy Medium Hair: use Marshmallow as it soothes Inflamed Membranes. Dry Hair and Scalp: mix Almond and Milk Protein to strengthen the Hair Shaft and treat dry Scalp. Rub Apricot E Oil - a mixture of Apricot Kernel Oil and Vitamin E into the Scalp to bring the Blood supply to the Scalp and cure Dry Scalp Conditions. Include Essential Fatty Acids such as Cod Liver Oil and Evening Primrose Oil in the diet. Zinc assists to maintain the proper Sebaceous Gland function normalising the Oil on the Hair and Scalp. Herbs: Alfala, Apple Cider Vinegar, Burdock Root Oil, Cayenne, Celandine majus, Comfrey, Fenugreek, Ginger, Liquorice, Parsley, Plantain, Sesame Seed Oil, Slippery Elm, Soybean and Tea Tree. Hair Wash: Put 1 teaspoon of Potassium Chloride (Bought a supermarkets as a Salt substitute) into 6 cups of water and heat and stir until the Potassium Chloride dissolves then add 4 ounces of chopped fresh Ginger and Sesame Seed Oil / Massage: 1 - 2 Tablespoons of Ginger Juice (squeezed from 2 grated Roots) and mix with 3 x Tablespoons of Sesame Oil and 1/2 teaspoon of Lemon Juice and rub the mixture into the Scalp 3 x times a week. Formula: Cod Liver Oil - 5ml daily, Evening Primrose Oil - 1 Capsule 500mg 3 times a day. Zinc, Seaweed / Kelp Meal - 1 teaspoon 3 times a week.  

 

DEBILITY - Ensure the Mind, the Body and the Spirit are O.K. Change the Diet completely, along with habits and carry out Internal cleansing. Take Bran - 2 Tablespoons in 500ml Water, simmer for 15 minutes, strain and take 1 cup 3 - 5 times a day. Base diet on Brown Rice, Cottage Cheese & Salads. Vegetables, whole Grains, Bread, Buckwheat with Beetroot and Carrot Juice - Especially good for the Aged. Herbs: Ginkgo,  

 

DEPRESSION / See also Allergies - Symptoms: Profound Sadness, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, poor Concentration, disturbed eating, sleeping and Bowel habits, and an inability to derive pleasure from normal activities.

Causes: Medication, Contraceptive and Hormone Replacement Pills. Both the Body & Mind are depleted when in a depressed state. Exercise regularly and eat a lot of whole Grains especially Oats, Vegetables, Fruit, Fish, Lentils, Nuts, Seeds & Turkey. Multivitamin & Mineral supplements may assist until well enough to prepare good food. Cut down on stimulants, especially Caffeine as these exhaust the Body and Mind. Avoid white Flour and Sugar products. Herbs: Bach Flower Essences, Bedtime Blend Teas, Borage, Brewer's Yeast, Damiana, Evening Primrose Oil, Ginger, Ginkgo, Hops, Hypericum -St. John's Wort - a Nerve Tonic, if due to Stress, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Liquorice, Purslane, Rosemary Oil, Siberian Ginseng, Thyme, Seaweed, Tonic Tea, Valerian, Vervain if due to Illness and Wild Oats. Vitamin B. Vitamin B Foods: Neurotransmitters, the chemicals that allow Nerve Cells to communicate and function properly also play a part in Depression and B Vitamins, Folate and Vitamin B6 and B12 keep their levels high. Folate sources are Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Okra, Navy Beans & Pinto Beans. B6: Cauliflower, Bananas, Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Okra, Onions, Peas, Purslane, Spinach, Radishes, Squash and Watercress. An Amino Acid, Phenylalanine also should be included in the diet as it also has anti - Depressant activity when combined with B6 and it is found in Black Beans, Soybeans, Sunflower Seeds & Watercress.  Foot Baths: Epsom Salts. Tea: Used to restore a healthy Nervous System and slightly stimulate. Mix equal parts of each of Damiana, St. John's Wort and Wild Oats and put 2 x teaspoons of the mixture in a pot and add 2 1/2 cups of boiling Water, steep fort 10m minutes, strain, and drink 1 x cup 3 times a day.

 

DERMATITIS - Symptoms: An Inflammatory Skin rash, which suppurates but is not contagious and may even be caused by Industrial products. Compound Infusion: Comfrey Leaves - 4 parts, Skullcap - 1, Mistletoe - 2, Valerian - 1.  

 

DIABETES - Symptoms: The Sugar imbalance creates increased Urination and Thirst. Diabetes causes narrowing of the Small Blood Vessels throughout the Body and the higher the Blood Sugar - Glucose - levels the more the Small Blood vessels narrow and therefore carry less Blood and Circulation is impaired. Poor Circulation then leads on to poorly controlled Diabetes, Kidney Disease, poor Wound healing and Foot and Eye Conditions, Diabetic Limb problems follow resulting in Amputation. Diabetes also alters Fat Metabolism increasing the risk that Cholesterol - laden plaque will build up in the Large Blood Vessels putting the person at risk of Heart Disease.  

Cause: This Inhibits the Body's use of Sugar for Nutrition due to a lack of Insulin - Associated with Western Culture and Diet. The Pancreas stops producing the Hormone Insulin / or the Body becomes unable to use the Insulin it produces. Glucose, the Body's main fuel, cannot enter our Cells unless Insulin is present and working and Glucose builds up in the Bloodstream and eventually turns up in the Urine. 2 Types: Type 1 - Insulin Dependant and they must inject themselves with Insulin daily to control their Blood Sugar. Type 11 - non - Insulin Dependant and produce their own Insulin but their Cells do not respond to it properly - associated with Obesity - and their Blood Sugar can be controlled through weight loss and diet and sometimes oral medication to boost the effect of their own Insulin. To avoid Diabetes, use whole Grains, Vegetables, Fruits and small amounts of Protein and refined food. Exercise and keep the weight down with fresh Vegetable Juices and eliminate all Sugars including Artificial Sweeteners. N.B: Stevia is a good herbal sweetener, if required, but it must be from Paraguy. Lower Blood Sugar levels by using Allspice, Barley, Burdock, Cabbage, Carrot, Fenugreek, raw Jerusalem Artichoke, Lettuce, Oats, Onion, Prickly, Spinach, Stinging Nettles, Sunflower, Sweet Potato, Turnip and Wormwood. Herbs: Bay Leaves, Beans (high in Soluble Fibre,) Bitter Gourd, Fenugreek Seed, Garlic, Gurmar, Jackass Bitters, Liquorice, Macadamia Nut, Marshmallow Root, Onion, Peanut and Tea.

  

DIABETES MELLITIS - Cause: There are 5 subclauses of this Condition, which is a serious Metabolic Disease resulting in an inability to Metabolise, Carbohydrate, Fat & Protein. Blood & Urine Tests need to be done to examine the Glucose - Blood Sugar levels and if too high then a special diet is required or it can lead on to an increased risk in Eyesight Conditions & Cardiovascular Disease.

Symptoms: A Change in Vision, increased Thirst or unexplained Headaches. Herbs, Minerals and Vitamins combined with a high Fibre, high complex Carbohydrate diet can benefit. Chromium, found in Brewer's Yeast, also is a necessary part of Glucose Tolerance Factor / GTF - and increases Glucose tolerance improving the effect of Insulin. Cereal Grains, Legumes and Root Vegetables provide high Fibre. Diet should be 75% Complex Carbohydrates, 15% Protein & 10% Fat. Exclude Refined Sugar from the diet. Vitamin C can also assist and Zinc as this Mineral is excreted through the Urine in Diabetics. Essential Fatty Acids can also assist. Formula: Chromium, Vitamin C, Zinc, Seaweed - Kelp Meal - 3 x teaspoons a week, Evening Primrose Oil - 1 Capsule 3 times a day.

   

DIARRHOEA - Symptoms: Loss of Fluid is a side effect and can be critical especially for Children due to Dehydration. Cause: Antibiotics, Anxiety, Food Poisoning - of a short nature. Prolonged attacks indicate something more serious such as food allergy or a major Disease of the Colon. Avoid eating Dairy Products during an attack as they contain Lactose and this can cause Diarrhoea. Avoid Oranges as they too can cause Diarrhoea especially if the Condition is caused by Gastro - Intestinal illness such as Gastro - Enteritis. Eat dry Foods, such as Biscuits and Rice Crackers as these assist to bind food. Drink plenty of Fluids, especially those sweetened with natural Glucose. Mucilage soothes the Digestive Tract and adds Bulk to stools by absorbing Water and swelling up considerably.  Pectin is a Soluble Fibre that adds Bulk to stools and soothes the Gut. Tannin has the ability to bind up or contract Tissues reducing Intestinal Inflammation by binding to the Protein layer of the Inflamed Mucous Membranes causing them to thicken and slow resorption of Toxic materials and restrict secretions. Grate the Apple and leave until brown, and mash ripe Banana and Rice or Barley Water. Main risk is Dehydration so it is very important to keep up the Fluids, by sipping Water or Astringent Iced Tea. Take several Charcoal Tablets or take 1 x Dessertspoon of finely ground Charcoal to stop persistent Diarrhoea. Take several doses at intervals to suite. Herbs: Agrimony, Apple, Bananas, Barberry, Bilberry and Blueberry, Blackberry and Raspberry, Carob, Carrot / Seed, Comfrey, Dill, Fenugreek Seeds, Fleabane - Children's, Meadowsweet, Oak, Peppermint, Plantain, Pomegranate, Psyllium Husks, Slippery Elm Powder, Tea & Wormwood. Ginger Tea - 50ml of sliced Ginger Root, 1/4 of a Lemon, 500mls water, 1 broken Cinnamon stick, 5 Cloves, and a dash of Nutmeg simmered for 10 minutes. Strain and drink 3 - 5 times a day. Formula: Agrimony, Bayberry, Kola Extract, Rhubarb Root, Slippery Elm, Mineral Water with added Glucose, Rice Biscuits, 6 - 8 glasses of Water a day.
