HAY FEVER - Spring and Perennial / Allergic Rhinitis - Also see Allergies. Spring Allergic Rhinitis is brought on by Spring conditions and if it becomes Chronic it can sometimes weaken the Body's resistance making it more susceptible to other Diseases.

Cause: Airborne Pollens including those from Corn, Fungi, Rusts, Spores and Wheat. Perennial Allergic Rhinitis: caused by Drugs, Feathers, Foods, House Dust, Industrial Fumes and Polluted Air. Symptoms: Irritation to the Mucous Membranes in the Nose and Throat leading to a runny Nose and persistent sneezing attacks, along with a Sore, Itchy Throat and Itchy swollen Eyes that water frequently and a feeling of being run down. Prevention is best by removing anything containing Feathers such as eiderdowns, keep the house well ventilated and cleaned with a Vacuum cleaner with a micro - filter. Do not eat Foods that you may be Allergic to. Do not grow Plants that are proven Allergens especially Privet. Avoid Dairy, Starchy and Sweet Foods as these create Mucus.

Treatment: Take 2 x teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 x teaspoon of Honey or 1/2 Lemon in Water first thing each morning. Use local Honey products and eat Honeycomb & Pollen whenever possible. Eat only the foods in Season. Pace both Hands in hot Water throughout the day to relieve. Herbs: Use Herbal Tonics made from Wild Herbs, growing throughout the local area in Autumn and Spring such as Cleavers, Dandelion, Elder, Fenugreek, Garlic, Ginger, Horseradish, Mallow and Stinging Nettles etc. by eating them fresh, Juice them, or make them into an Infusion. Cod Liver Oil: can also be combined with Garlic and Horseradish along with Vitamin A. Garlic: has an Expectorant and drying effect on the Sinuses. Garlic and Horseradish: can be combined as they have Bacteriostatic and anti - Biotic actions. Horseradish: promotes discharge and drainage and is a powerful anti - Septic. Phytolacca Ointment: can be rubbed into the Sinus areas around the Nose. Steam Inhalation: Use Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Thyme Oils. Formula: Acerola, Calcium Ascorbic Acid, Citrus Flavonoids, Echinacea, Garlic, Hesperidin, Horseradish, Liquorice Root - 3 x times a day, Sambucus - 100mg 3 times a day, Rosehips, Rutin, Vitamin A - daily, Vitamin C and Cod Liver Oil - 5ml a day.

  

HEAD ACHES -  See also Allergies, Migraines and Neurasthenia. N.B: Pain is only a warning - Seek out the cause!! Symptoms:  90% of all Headaches are Tension Headaches, which begin in the Back of the Neck or Head and spread outward with a dull non - throbbing pain. The other 10% are Cluster Headaches, Caffeine withdrawal Headaches and Migraines caused by the opening and closing - Dilation and Constriction of Blood Vessels in the Head that set off Pain Nerves. Migraine is a severe and throbbing Headache usually on one side of the Head and often proceeded by Visual disturbances. Nausea & Vomiting often accompany the Migraine. N.B: 3 times as many Women as Men experience this Condition especially just prior to Menstrual Periods or during Pregnancy and the Migraines usually disappear after Menopause in about 3/4 of Women. Cause Alcohol, Food Allergies, Caffeine, Strain and Stress. Place an Onion or Horseradish Poultice on the back of the Neck or on the Soles of the Feet. Massage & Exercise can assist to ease. Utilise hot and cold Foot and Leg baths. Massage the Scalp with Lavender and Rosemary Oils. Or press Oils on the Pressure points. Alcohol depletes the Body of Vitamin B1 and dehydrates the Brain, which can cause Head Aches. Keep up the non - Alcoholic Fluids and consume Vitamin B1. Often caused by tension in the Neck and upper Back Muscles preventing the Blood supply to the Head creating pain.  Coffee and Tea: Reduce Caffeine intake slowly from these beverages at 1 x cup less a day as otherwise you may get Caffeine withdrawals. Cold and Flu: Use Sneezewort, Thyme and Winter Blend. Digestive: Use Comforting Blend, Peppermint and Rosemary. General: Rub Hypericum or Hypericum plus Oils into the Temple. Migraine: Use Feverfew as an Infusion or eat raw Feverfew Leaves every day on Bread over a long period to get a Cumulative effect. (N.B: Do not over do.) Sinus: Rub Phytolacca Oinment into the Temple. Strain: Neck Muscles can become knotted and painful from lifting heavy objects and can travel up the other Muscles in the Head. Relax, meditate, massage or use Valerian to relax tense Muscles. Stress: Two drops of Essential Oil of Lavender mixed with 1 x teaspoon of hot or cold Water and rub directly on to the Head. Tension: Use Bedtime Blend, Lavender, Rosemary, Valerian, and Wood Betony. Herbs: Bay, Basil, Evening Primrose, Feverfew, Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Purslane, Red Pepper, Rosemary Tea or Tincture, Tansy, Thyme, Turmeric, Wood Betony and Willow. Bay Leaves: used if due to blocked Nasal Passages, as it contains Parthenolides used to prevent Migraine as it inhibits the release of the Neurotransmitter Serotonin from Blood Cells known as Platelets that play a causative role - Bay Leaves could be added to Feverfew. Basil: by rubbing the Essential Oil on the Temples. Evening Primrose Oil: is one of the best sources of Phenylalanine a pain - relieving compound and for Chronic Head Ache 6 - 8 Capsules a day is used. Sunflower Seeds also contain Phenylalanine 4.8% on a dry weight basis, while other sources are Bean Sprouts, Butternut Squash, Carob, Lentils, Lupins, Peanuts, Pigeon Peas, Pigweed Greens, Soybeans, Spinach, Swamp Cabbage, Watercress and Yard long Beans. Feverfew Leaves: works for 2/3rds of those who use them consistently. Fresh Leaves: Ingest 1 - 4 Leaves a day N.B: They do not taste good and if over done can lead to Mouth Sores or Inflammation of the Mouth & Tongue. Tea: 2 - 8 fresh Leaves and steep in boiling water but do not boil as it may break down the Parthenolides. Capsules: the easiest way to ingest from 1 a day (60mg) - 6 a day (380mg) of fresh powdered Leaf or 2 daily 25mg Capsules of freeze dried Leaf. N.B: Do not take if Pregnant as there is a remote chance that it might cause Miscarriage or Nursing as it may pass through the Breast Milk to the Infant. N.B: Long term users may suffer a mild tranquillising or Sedative effect. Garlic: eat plenty of Garlic & Onions to combat Migraines as they are Blood thinners and interfere with Platelet activity that are involved in Blood Clotting and triggering Migraines, making them a little less active - Used also to prevent Heart Attack. Ginger: used to prevent Migraines. Ginger Powder: use 500mg in Capsules. Fresh Ginger: use 5gr / 2 1/2 x teaspoons of the fresh grated Root. Or combine with Turmeric or another herb to suite, as it is Anti - Inflammatory and has similar properties to Ginger - 2 x teaspoons in a glass of Lemonade, as required. Ginkgo: improves the Cerebral Blood flow through the Brain. Extract: 30 drops of 0.5% Flavonoid Glycosides 3 times a day for a day or two. Capsules: follow the package directions 60 - 240mg a day but no higher as it may cause Diarrhoea, Irritability and Restlessness.  Head Ache Herbs: Tea: Mix any or either Cinnamon, Lemon Grass, Peppermint & Rosemary or Basil, Black Pepper, Caraway, Coriander, Ginseng, Lavender, Pennyroyal, Plantain, Poppy Seeds, Rosemary, Rue, Tea & Yarrow. Lemon Balm - Melissa: used to treat Migraines. Tea: 1- 2 x teaspoons of the dried herb per cup of boiling Water and steep until cool and add Feverfew, Ginger and Turmeric. Peppermint Oil: mix with a little Alcohol and rub on the Temples - it alleviates Head Ache pain especially mixed with Lavender, Eucalyptus & Rosemary. N.B: Do not take Essential Oils Internally - External use only. Purslane: Magnesium deficiency is connected to frequent Tension Head Aches or Migraines and Leafy Green Purslane with 2% Magnesium on a dry weight basis along with Legumes and whole Grains are good Food sources of Magnesium. Cow Peas, Green Beans, Poppy seeds, Oats and Spinach are others.  Rosemary Tea or 15 - 30 drops of the Tincture as required. Tansy: also contains Parthenolides the same as Feverfew that may assist with Migraines. N.B: If Pregnant do not use as it too has the potential to cause Miscarriage. Thyme Tea: 1 x teaspoon of the dried herb per cup of hot Water. Compress: used to ease aching Muscles in the Neck, Shoulders & Back that contribute to Tension Headaches. Turmeric: is an Anti - Inflammatory and can be used with Ginger or similar herb. Red Pepper: contains Capsaicin a pain reliever as it interferes with Substance P a chemical that is involved in transmitting pain impulses. Taken internally it is the richest source of Aspirin - like Salicylates and has been used for Cluster Headaches that are similar to Migraine - Can be taken in Capsules. White Willow Bark: is an effective pain reliever for Headache and is rather low in Salicin the compound that relieves pain while other varieties are more potent such as S. daphnoides, S. fragilis and S. purpurea. (1 x teaspoon of the high - Salicin Barks or 1 - 1 1/2 x teaspoons of White Willow.) More then 86% of the Salicin in Willow is absorbed by the Digestive Tract providing a good Blood level for several hours. N.B: If Allergic to Aspirin do not take and do not give Aspirin of any sought to Children who have Headaches with Viral Infections such as Colds or Flu as they might develop Reye's Syndrome a potentially fatal Condition that damages the Brain and the Liver. Commercial Aspirin as such is an isolated, concentrated chemical while Willow is still in Synergy with the other components but still has Aspirin - like effects. Also see Allergies as these are caused by Alcohol, Dairy Foods, M.S.G., Nutrasweet, Stress & Yeast. Scented Bath: Pour a few drops of Essential Oil of Lavender or some Infused Oil into a hot bath and lie back and relax or tie a bunch of the fresh herb under the hot tap as you fill the bath. Lavender or Rosemary Oil can be rubbed into the Temples. Tea: 1 x teaspoon of dried Wood Betony and ½ x teaspoon of dried Lavender or Rosemary into a cup and fill with boiling Water and steep for 10 minutes, strain and drink every hour throughout the day. Compound Infusions: Rosemary - 1part, Skullcap - 1, Wild Lettuce - 1, Valerian - 1, Balm - 2. Formula: White Willow Bark - Nature's Aspirin x 3 times a day, Vitamin B Complex, Hops, Skullcap, Valerian, Passiflora - follow the directions.
