*90.Niall Mor Naoighiallach - the Greater - of the Nine Hostages was the fifth son of *89.Eochy Mugmedon / Muigh Mheadhoin - the Cultivator of the Plain the Scythian Celtic Milesian Gaelic Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Felim Dal Cuinn 124th King of Tara / Ireland and Caireann Chais Dubh - of the Dark Curly Hair who was a Brythonic Princess the daughter of Scal Moen the Saxon King in Briton / Albion. *90.Niall was to be known eventually as *90.Niall Mor - of the Nine Hostages when he became the 126th King of Tara / Ireland, as he was to secure aristocratic warrior hostages from nine individual regions that he had previously submitted, to ensure their abiding allegiance, who also paid him tribute / borumha. Among these were the 4 Provinces in Ireland, the Teutonic Saxons in Albion / Briton, the Scythian Cruthin Gaelic Picts in Alba / Scottish Highlands), the Heremonian Ui Cobhthaigh Ui Conaire Dal Riada Sept in the north - east of Ireland and Argyle (The Land of the Gael) in the Scottish Highlands, and also a Province towards Calais and Picardy, where he had gone deep into Gaul to assist the Morini Celts to expel the Romans from out of their territory there.

    Initially *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages was to make his older half - brother, 90.Brion the first Dal Cuinn King of Connacht, who was also to become the direct male line ancestor of the 4 Ui Briuin Septs in the Connacht Province, and the U Briuin Kings of Connacht, and also eventually 2 Kings of Ireland.  90.Fiachra, his other half - brother, was to become the direct male line ancestor of the "southern" and "northern" Ui Fiachrach Septs in Connacht, and 2 of the Kings of Tara / Ireland and the early Ui Fiachrach Kings of Connacht. He initially made him the Dal Cuinn King of a region from Carn Feradaig near Co. Limerick in the north - west of the Munster Province to Magh Mucronmhe near Athenry in Co. Galway in the south of Connacht (The Land of *83.Conn). After the demise of 90.Brion he made 90.Fiachra the second Dal Cuinn King of Connacht. *90.Niall was married to Inne the daughter of Lewy / Lughaidh a relict of Fiachaidh, Indorba a Princess of Briton as Ireland and Briton were close during the 4th - 5th Century, and also to Roigneach.

    During *90.Niall's rule St. Patrick, aged 16 years, who was a Celtic - Romano was brought by force into Ireland, among a party of 200 children from Little Brittany / Amorica in France. but would escape later on and then return to Ireland in 432 AD of his own volition to spread Christianity further after he was to have a vision imploring him to do so.  

405 AD *90.Niall Mor was to be killed for revenge while he was resting on the banks of the River Lianne / Loire near Boulgne - sur - mer by a Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb Prince, 95.Eochy / Eochaidh Ainbhcellach, who he had previously exiled to Alba / Scottish Highlands, who was one of the sons of 94.Enda / Enna Cennsalach / Kinsella the Heremonian Ui Laoghaire Ui Lughaidh Cu Corb 2nd King of Leinster who would refuse Christianity when St. Patrick was to return to Ireland in 432 AD. *90.Niall Mor had previously decreed that Alba was to be known henceforth as Scotia Minor.

    *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages had 12 sons, and from 8 of these sons he became the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "southern" and "northern" Ui Niaill Septs / Family branches in the Connacht Province, Northern Leinster, the Ulster Province and the Highlands of Scotland. His second wife, Roigneach was to be the mother of his first 7 sons.

(1) 91.Cairbre / Coirpre, whose mother was Rioghnach, was to  become the direct male line ancestor of the Heremonian Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel Cairbre, including the O Flanagans of Tuath - Ratha, the Muintir Cathalan / O Cahills, while his grandson, *93.Toole / Tuathal Mael Garb became the 132nd King of Tara / Ireland and the only one from the Cenel Cairbre.

(2) 91.Conall Cremthainne was the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill King of Meath in Northern Leinster who became the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel nArdgail Sept, the Siol nAedo Slaine and the Clann Cholmain Kings of Ireland, including the Ui Maol Sheachlainn / O Melaghlin / Mac Loughlins - of Meath.

(3) 91.Fiacha / Fiachu / Fiachaidh, whose mother was Inne, the daughter of Lewy / Lughaidh, became the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "southern" Cenel Fiachach Septs who had their territory from Birr to the Hill of Uisneach (Medio Hibernica) in Co. Westmeath in Northern Leinster, were he became the ancestor in more modern times of the Mac Geoghegans / Meic Eoghagain who were the Chiefs there, the O Molloys / Ui Maoil Mhuaidh - of Meath, the Ui Donechar / O Donaghers / O Dooners.

(4) *91.Leary / Laoghaire became the "southern" Ui Niaill 128th King of Tara / Ireland, and St. Patrick arrived back into Ireland in the fourth year of his rule, but he had promised his father that he would not become a Christian. His son, *89.Lewy / Lughaidh was to become the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill 130th King of Tara / Ireland. They both then became the male line ancestors of the O Connellan / Ui Caoindealbhain - caoin (comely) dealbh (form) and the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel Laoghaire Sept / Family branch, who also had their territory in Co. Meath in the south - east of Northern Leinster. Anglicized also as Kindellan, Quinlan / Quinlivan in the Munster Province, O Conlan or O Conlon also.

(5) 91.Maine - of Tethbae became the direct male line ancestor of the Cenel Maine, who had his territory from Loch Ree to Loch Annin near Mullingar / Molingar in Co. Westmeath in Northern Leinster was to become the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Cenel Maine Septs, including the Sionnach Muinntear Thadhgain / Fox the Kings of Muintir / Muinntear Tagan, the Muintir Ronain, the Muintir Choinmheadha, the Ui Inneirghe Sept, the Muintir tSlamain, the Muintir Dhuibhgheannain, the Clann Ui Mhaoil Chonaire, the Muintir Bhraoin, the Muintir Chibleacain, the Ui Siadhail Sept, the Muintir Chathalain, the Muintir Muireaghdha, the Ui Carrghamhna Sept, the Muintir Chuinn, the Mac Gawleys of Carbry, the O Dugans, the O Henergys and the O Mulchonreys. 

(6) 91.Eogan became the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain Sept, initially in Tir Eogain in the north - east of the Ulster Province as the Kings of Aileach, then as the Kings of Tyrone, and eventually as the Kings of Ulster, while also producing many of the Dal Cuinn Kings of Tara / Ireland and the Kings of Scotland, 91.Eogan was baptised by St. Patrick at Aileach. His main Septs later on in more modern times were to be the the O Canes / Kanes, the O Carolans, the O Creans, the O Dalys - of Ulster, the O Grogans, the Mac Loughlins and the O Nialls.

(7) 91.Conall Gulban became the direct male line ancestor of the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel Conaill Septs in Tir Conaill / Tyrconnell who were also to be early Kings of Tara / Ireland, and Kings of Tyrconnell, especially represented later on by the O Donnells / Ui Domhnaill in the north - west of the Ulster Province along with the O Boyles, the O Doughertys / Dohertys, and the O Gallaghers.

(8) 91.Enda / Eanna became the direct male line ancestor of the "northern" Ui Niaill Ui Endae Septs whose mother was also Rioghnach, and his descendants in the mid - north - west of the Ulster Province would be incorporated into those of his 2 "northern" brothers, 91.Eogan (Cenel nEogain) and 91.Conall Gulban (Cenel Conaill).  

(9) 91.Fergus became the ancestor of the Cenel Fergusa represented in more modern times by the O Hagans and the O Fergusons,

(10) 91.Angus / Aonghus / Aeneas, (11) 91.Aulthearg / Ualdhearg and (12) 91.Fergus Ailtleathan. All of which I have no record of issue.

     Of the 5 sons from the "southern" Ui Niaill, only 3, 91.Cairbre / Coirpre, (Cenel Cairbre),*91.Leary / Laoghaire (Ui Laoghaire Septs) and 91.Conall Cremthainne (Siol nAedo Slaine and the Clann Cholmain) were to leave Dal Cuinn "southern" Ui Niaill Kings of Tara / Ireland. 91.Conall Cremthainne's male line was to eventually become the aristocratic warrior standout, as they were to not only produce Kings early on from his descendant *94.Aed Slaine the 141st King of Ireland (Siol nAedo Slaine) but later still from his older half - brother, 94.Colman Mor (Clann Cholmain) whose Sept was to survive in the Kingships until the early 11th Century AD.

       *90.Niall - of the Nine Hostages had in essence become the first real Ard Ri / High King of Tara / Ireland, although in actual fact there was no such a position allowed under the Celtic Brehon Law, as the Celtic Septs always remained independent of each other in Celtic culture and tradition, which was to bring  them undone eventually, on the Continent, in Briton, and also in Ireland. *90.Niall had his Summer Place at the fortress of the Grianan of Ailech / Ailed in the north - west of Co. Derry in the Ulster Province, which was to be built with oak trees from Thomond  / Northern Munster. It was situated on the Greenan Mountain west of Co. Derry overlooking Loch Swilly and Loch Fee where it was to only last as a Heremonian main seat until the 8^th Century AD under the auspices of his descendants the Dal Cuinn "northern" Ui Niaill Cenel nEogain.
